  • Karelin's the ULTIMATE Russian athlete. A brown bear reincarnated into a human body. Has to be...

    ;-)

  • pause at 0:17

  • he said his toughest opponent ever was a refrigerator he bought when he was 16 lol he had to carry it up 6 sets of stairs . classic

  • that can't be good for your back. dude must have been in pain off the mat.

  • 6 people disliking this were the ones who got slammed

  • It's amazing he didn't kill or paralyze someone with that throw.

  • What the hell do they feed this guy! Scrapmetal? Uranium 235? Beehives? People?

  • @RecBookHero Food left over from Tchernobyl.

  • I like his style.

  • what is the name of this song?? It has to go on my owkrout playlist

  • lol why the sparrer or whatever like half his weight :D

  • Karelin throwin' niggas like it aint no thang

  • I love wrestling and I love L.O.G.

  • что за муза подскажите! а бой сильные!

  • Заебло такое музло

  • Lamb of God + Karelin = Win.

  • Karelin is the only person good enough to use a reverse body lift at the olympics and not get himself pinned.

  • I wonder what his coach is telling him that he already doesn't know.

  • well at least he is not on the biggest loser lol.

  • I just realized that my high school wrestling coach looks exactly like Kareliin, just smaller. Needless to say, he scares the shit out of all of us.

  • It wasn't inactivity that gave him the loss. He got pinged for a point for a re-clasp. The best have to get beaten eventually.

  • Everybody take a good look... cause you will not see anyone, anywhere in the world, come even close to this wrestler for many many years to come. That is what a real legend looks like. Now, vow. That means YOU TOO, Lesnar!

  • @josepablobolanos to me, karelin remains the only unbeaten wrestler in history. he lost his last match in sydney but that was not a real loss, i mean b/c inactivity? my friend is turkish and used to be a wrestler (62kg) himself, he told me they were trying to breed men in turkey JUST to defeat karelin, they were scared shitless of this dude. :D

  • I demand a rematch between Karelin and gardner.

  • @drquads

rematch is not needed, karelin beaten Gardner 5-0 before.Even Garder knows he was hell of guy and he would not be able to beat him in his prime.GArdner was victim to Karelin R lift before lol.

  • greatest wrestler ever without any doubt.

  • the Beast known as Karelin..

  • what song is this?

  • @alibabais1 children of bodom- now youve got something to die for

  • @alibabais1 the song name bulletsponge gave you is right but the band is lamb of god...i dont know if you care lol just thought id say the right band

  • All USSR/Russian Greco-Roman wrestlers must train & have experience in freestyle and Sambo submission wrestling as well. It's part of the "Master of Sports in Classical Wrestling" degree (which is like a high black belt in wrestling in Russian ranking). Sambo wrestlers train heavily with Greco-Roman (Classic) wrestlers, so Aleksandr Karelin is an overall amazing grappler with good freestyle takedowns and Sambo submissions... he's just not an expert at these styles thus only competed at Greco.

  • @pcjudosambo Cool, but USA beat him in the end.

  • @mattlewis66 Cool but you are still a retard.

  • @BarcaFury Not cool because you are a bigot against handicapped people.

  • @mattlewis66 he beat usa more times ... usa only triumphed once when he triumphed every time they met until that point

  • @mattlewis66 After 11 years ^^

  • Русские - лучшие!!!!! Кавказцы сосут хуйца!!!

  • what the hell is he doing at 0:43

  • @UltimateInOne stretching his inner thigh muscles (next to the groin). If you pull that muscle, you won't be able to walk for weeks or months.

  • Who did he throw? Was it Rulon? Looks like it.

  • это потомок богатырей, все таки еще не перевелись.

в армейки служил - убедился, что еще есть потомки тех богатырей, о которых сказания писали.

  • @BetterWatchUrBack

A.Karelin was not the governor. He was in the deputy in Parliament, and also it has a rank the colonel in tax police. Also it a member of a high council of party in power "United Russia".

  • sweet footage!

  • @9262ABC you obviously have never wrestled and are a pansy

  • Lamb of God and Karelin! Fuck yeah!

  • Lamb of god fits well. I notice all of this guys videos are set to some heavy-ass metal...

  • @Melermometal the only music that could properly fit a karelin highlight is something hardcore like LoG.

  • Karelin at his prime would have destroyed Lessnar in a wrestling fight!

He was by far the strongest wrestler and completly dominated all his oponents.

I heard that now he is the governor in Sibiria or something like that.

  • - Alxander was too powerfull for everybody ... 290 lbs of muscle and bone ..

  • How strong is that guy come on a gorilla is crying when he see him!!!!!

  • HAHAHA Youtube start blocking negative responses about youtube new format LOL

  • at 0:41 he still looks eager to learn more and really shows the passion he has for the sport of wrestling. He's one of my new heroes.

  • Karelin is a machine. Brute strength, excellent conditioning, irresistible power...

  • Sasha RuLiT!!!

  • Yeah, he was beat. But seriously; 13 year undefeated streak!?!? Six of which where he was not scored upon once!!!!!

He's a real nice guy, too.

  • @13choya Only reason he lost is because they changed the rules. Up until that point he was undefeated, first match he had with altered rules he lost.

  • Crazy how Rulon came out of nowhere and upset him. Awesome

  • @gonatego2

No. Karelin was better but out of shape and they had a grotesque "decider" rule that year that they then dropped. You can read about it. He was robbed of the medal.

He is the smartest wrestler, has a Ph.D. a super classy guy:

"Greco-Roman is an original Olympic sport," he once said. "I like the idea of being a classical man, of belonging to a classical tradition."

  • Rulon was given 1 point for Karelin Mistake but Rulon did nothing to Karelin

  • He was beat .... 2000

  • resistance is futile

  • Now You've Got Something to Die For

    by Lamb of God

  • feel bad for his drilling partner

  • @bigbirdgrappler60 his partner is a bear

  • @bigbirdgrappler60 Au contrare, I wish I could be his drilling partner. It would suck, most definitely, but you don't get something from nothing, and it is every not-retarded athletes dream to regularly practice with people better than them.

  • @bowlslaw thats a fact i drilled with the best wrestler on my hs team for 2 years but that dosnt mean i liked it

  • @bigbirdgrappler60 his drilling partner was most likley a refrigerator due to him breaking all of his partners.

  • he's just the best.

  • he was about to be the best until rulon gardner beat him. hahah. number 1 upset in olympic history.

  • H ewas tested and found not positive, so that means hes drug free then? lol! naive or what!

  • btw karelin use to be fedor idol....

  • and steroids, thats for f'n sure!

  • he was tested and was never found to take illegal steroids

  • How the hell did Karelin train when there was none like him anywhere?

  • he beat the shit out of ppl so bad then after those 3 min utes hed go to the nxt guy and again the nxt guy then run from one side of russia to the other in the snow and then do it again..... then he started practice

  • @MultiMmafan Yea but not in wrasslin, in wrasslin he´d stomp fedor...

  • he was an amazing wrestler. i love the match between him a Rulon Gradener and Rulon won, it inspires me to go out and work harder at my moves and to be the best i can be

  • look at that lil bitch squirm as karelin just lifts and dominates

  • @Kickstick84

That's not exactly a nice thing to say.

  • ur a meat gazer

  • You're a funny guy.

  • the most amazing thing about karelin is where is all his match footage gone? all the 1980's/90's world and olympic footage?

We got all this you tube footage of average wrestlers and even russian nationals between guys we can barely remember....

but next to nothing on the most famous wrestler of all?

Wtf????? someone explain that to me

  • i'd say information filter

  • @kthanid83

Youtube did a great job to whipe off it all about good ppl

    Youtube loves assholes

    Youtube rules !!!

i hate this fucking youtube new profile.. i like old back youtube

  • @kthanid83 i want more footage too lol. barely found out about him and all i can do is read about him. which is kool imagining him caring a refrigerator up 8 flights of stairs.

  • @kthanid83 Karelin is a russian wrestler NOT AN AMERICAN HOLLYWOOD STAR !!!!

We dont got footage of Theagenes of Thasos either. But Theagenes was the god of wrestlers.

Some irelevant persons don't even know Theogeni or even Karelin. But you can read about them with out hollywood effects and noise.

  • @arcadian33333 yes, but you always need evidence. what if a 10 year old comes to you and says that brock lesnar is the greatest? if you just call him a stupid 10 year old, than you are even more stupid. You will need evidence to prove him wrong, actually, educate him

  • @R2rGangstaFC Evidence is the fame through sport not through TV. Serius Athlets build their fame among wreslters and people who like wrestling as a sport not by marketing.Wrestling is one subject and Marketing is another .

  • @kthanid83

    Youtube kinda gay website

They do no not like people at all

    They collect LOL

  • The Guy Getting thrown by Karelin Is like "Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!"

  • deadlifting at it's best :))

  • Looks like he was about to suck that guys dick at the end lulz

  • hes such a fuckin beast

  • anyone know songs name?

  • Now you've got something to die for - Lamb of God

  • Wrestlers are like cockroaches you put them on their back and they die.

  • The problem is wrestlers rarely end up on their back.

And when a BJJ'er has a wrestler on top of him for some reason they end up being the cockroaches. Diaz/Guida, Penn/GSP, Lesnar/Mir and many many more examples. Wrestling>>>>BJJ.

  • songs name?

  • lamb of god now you've got something to die for

  • Silvas background is Muay Thai not BJJ. He wins because hes a great Muay Thai fighter.

And Manhoef sucks, he wouldnt beat Silva standingl. Thats just absurd.

And Maia is a great fighter, one of my favourites, his win against Sonnen was impressive.

But hes a rare example, wrestlers with sub defense awareness will often always beat the BJJ fighter. Wrestlng is simply more effective and it produces better athletes and fighters.

  • Yep. It's true... but don't waste your breath. You'll never convince them.

  • yeah no background in bjj when he is a black belt...

  • Man you're dumb. His background is Muay Thai. He didnt start BJJ until well in his late teens, early 20's.

Being a black belt doesnt mean anything. Black belts are handed out illegitimately by gyms to help promote their school, gain publicity and legitimize the fighters. What really counts is proving it on the international stage in world-class competitions.

Silva hasnt done that, hes not good enough.

  • Manhoef sucks? Please, prove to me that beating nobodies like Nate Marquardt and Rich Franklin qualifies you to be in the same sentence as a K-1 top contender. Wrestlers are good. Wrestlers with BJJ are better. It isn't about one or the other; it's about both.

  • Yes Manhoef is not good. K-1 is a joke.

And yes I agree, wrestlers with some BJJ are better. But i'd say wrestlers with knowledge of BJJ, thats all you need. You dont need to be good at it because wrestlers dominate BJJers all the time.

  • " a bbj wrestler have not choise against a good boxer or wrestler" Please... I think BJJ has proven how effective it is at early vale tudo fights and at UFC etc.. there is a reason why MMA fighters train BJJ/ SW. I have nothing against wrestling it's a great sport but its not made for freestyle fighting. Amen

  • Wrestling is the best style for MMA.

If you watched MMA you'd know that. Wrestlers are whooping BJJ'ers across the ring. Its simply more effective and produces better conditioned athletes.

  • yes indeed, but wrestling teaches control from a dominant position where as jiujitsu teaches to be comfortable from everywhere kinda like riding something out, but its wrestlers scary strength that helps put people out

  • LW- BJ Penn/bjj

    WW- GSP/wrestling

    MW - Anderson Silva/ BJJ

    LHW - Machida/ BJJ

    HW - Lesnar/wrestling

and this is in the UFC where the cage helps wrestlers a ton

wrestling is amazing and i personally think its more effective (but not more entertaining) than bjj, but wrestlers are not whooping bjj'ers all the time.

  • Machida is not BJJ, hes karate thats why hes so successful. Silva is not BJJ, hes Muay Thai.

Sure these guys are good BJJ practitioners but they would be nothing without their great striking ability.

And wrestling is simply the more effective art. Its the best art for MMA. And I dont think BJJ is anymore entertaining than wrestling especially in MMA. There are very few aggressive BJJ'ers primarily because wrestlers are so good from the top position that they negate everything from BJJers

  • lol @ machida and silva not being BJJ but having black belts in it and using BJJ in their fights...only in your world?

its MIXED martial arts, hence why amazing strikers like Melvin Manhoef who would smash Silva or Machida standing (or plug in any other K1 guy t hat fights MMA), and they would lose against a guy like Silva or machida. all their skillsets combined make them great fighters.

Anyway wrestling is more effective in a cage but go tell Demian Maia that wrestlers dominate him lol

  • Machidas background is KARATE. Its how he wins fights. Nobody is saying hes not a good BJJ practitioner but his karate enables him to be so effective, hence why he wins almost all his fights standing.

Silva also has good BJJ and MANY ppl have black belts in BJJ doesnt mean they are world class. Alot of people are awarded blackbelts to legitimize the gym they train at and to legitimize themselves as fighters. Its BS because there are black belts who havent done shit in BJJ competitions.

  • wtf are you smoking dude!? Manhoef would smash Silva or Machida hahahahahaaaaaa!!!!!!! LMAO!!! wow what planet are you living on man

  • Manhoef has no ground game to speak of. He's never beaten a top 10 fighter in his career.

  • It's a close battle between wrestlers and BJJ players, overall. But more digging into the numbers is in order. For instance, Penn is a world JJ champion while GSP has never wrestled in an actual tourney and if he did wouldn't be competitive at world class levels (good as he is). The fact is that national college wrestling champions and Olympic alternates have proven, time and again, to be a match for JJ world champs. How would several world champ wrestlers do as a group? We don't know yet.

  • several past ufc champions had solid background in wrestling also. Both solid, I think wrestling is little more effective in cage.

  • we learned that move at freestyle today

  • Please, dont't talk more about bbj. I'm a wrestler, and my coach learned in moscow's Lenin Institute. He tell me all the russians wrestlers are also sambo wrestlers.

Greco-roman and boxing are the betters way to fight. I been living in Brazil and I know how bbj do the rules to vale-tudo, and a bbj wrestler have not choise against a good boxer or wrestler. I participate in an open with judocas and this guys. Was funny, believe-me.

Wrestling is simple, like boxing, and effective.

  • Sambo is on par with BJJ for sure because they teach submissions and striking in Combat Sambo but if you are talking folk, free or Greco then I would disagree with you.

Boxing is one dimension as well, but if you are a good boxer and learn to defend Muay Thai and other striking disciplines then it is very effective. While also discarding some boxing techniques that can get you in trouble if it isn't a straight boxing match.

  • You right. But if a wrestler learn, not to compete under rules, but to fight, or a boxer- this disciplines become a martial art. Better if you mix greco-roman with boxing.

  • ur a moron boxer will get smashed by a bjj guy u tool. it has been proven already by gracie. now good boxer with greco roman and nice sub defence would wreck bjj guy

  • Sorry man, I don't understand your insults. I'm a wrestler who been travelling around a lot of time, and -bad thing- I needed to use some skills when I was younguer and poor. I know bjj is good, like all disciplines, but wrestling is more intuitive an when applied in real life just need one movement. Also the martial art depends in your body conformation, if you weight 600 pounds is better to do sumo.

If a grecowrestler lear to punch is complete(but not necessary

  • u blindly said that greco roman is better. i agree that one vs one greco is better so are any other wresltings including good judo. when competing id rather be demian maia on the ground than gsp or lesnar. on the street id rather be a good muay thai fighter than either wrestler or bjj

  • Yes, I agree with you in your concepts. Bjj is not bad, the fignter probably is. Who can think bjj can do against SUeshiba, BLee, or others, including big boxers like Ali? First of all MMA is an sport, not real fight. I fell me in selfconfidence with gr wrestl to walk safe in anywhere and my body is good for this style. I respect all martial arts, but claiming wrestling and all western styles are also.

  • on the street martial arts wont save u, u need experience. id rather know mt on the street. u serious? any good bjj black belt would smash all of the dudes u listed

  • so if they suck than that even makes my argument stronger that bjj > wrestling. anyway give me any wrestler that can hold down garice , maia , roger gracie any of em

  • I have been doing BJJ for 12 years now, and wrestling is better than BJJ in certain situations. As for the Gracies? Too much hype and credit where credit isn't due. BJJ came from Judo. Simple. The Gracies seemed to disappear from MMA once people learned "thier" art. Bjj is fun, and great exercise, but the Gracies are very overrated.

  • Amen.

Not only are the Gracies overrated but almost all of them if not all fo them are huge douchebags.

  • when did Gracie ever fight a good boxer?

    He never did.

And that Jimmerson didnt prove anything.

  • art jimmerson was ranked top ten cruiser weight at one point.

if it was a boxing match he would have knocked out gracie in one punch. but it was nhb match and he got killed

  • Ugh, Jimmerson wasnt a great boxer. He lost 18 bouts in his career.

And you clearly dont know the story behind that fight.. If you did, you likely wont ever bring that fight up.

Hell without knowing the story behind it and just watching it on TV you would still be dumb to bring up the example and have people take you seriously. THE DUDE WAS WEARING A 10oz glove.

Did you see Mercer/Sylvia? That fight is 10x more relevant than Jimmerson who showed up for a paycheque and nothing else.

  • i know the story behind the glove. Jimmerson said he didnt want to break his hand, he thought he would knock these karate guys out with one cross. he didnt think he would get taken down, no one knew that. ray mercer isnt relevant. tim sylvia just stood up with him, like an idiot. if they rematch tim wins that fight everytime.

  • Thats not the story behind it.

Also, Jimmerson was paid way more than anybody in that event. That should leave you with a few ideas.

  • lol just look at GSP vs Bj. bbj versus a larger wrestler. And we must remember that Karelin also did sambo and boxing, so the striking and summision game would not be unknown to him

  • Dude GSP is just a a beast and BJ didn't look too great. Not to mention GSP has great BJJ himself, if he didn't train BJJ as well he would have been submitted in an instant.

  • "To the death George" hahah Who knows?

  • karelin may have been the strongest man ever i think. Considering all the power lifters, body builders, and olympic lifters, wouldnt have the flexibility he had to toss a human athlete like he could brock lesnar would shit himself against karelin

  • Are you kidding me? Karelin would have destroyed everyone in the UFC. There is a huge difference between 240lb heavy weight in the UFC and the 300+lbs of destruction that was Karelin.

  • Karelin was a freakin' beast.

I don't know why people always bring in MMA into the question. I don't see any reason why this guy wouldn't do well in the UFC. The best wrestler in the history of the sport, amazing strength. Most of the heavy weights who fight in the UFC barely even break 240lbs, I think Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir are the only guys who close to that. Karelin was like 300lbs of pure power, in these clips he tossing guys that weight at least that much like they're nothing.

  • Rickson is what like 190lbs at most. He's got skills for sure being the best of the Gracies besides his deceased brother Rolls. But seriously 110lbs is a ton to give up not taking into the fact that this guy is an amazing wrestler. I don't see why he wouldn't be able to power out of pretty much every submission attempted or just grab him and piledrive his head into the mat. Hell look at Severn the guy was a mediocre wrestler at most and he did very well.

  • A) Rickson is not the greatest in the Gracie clan, nor is he the greatest jiujitsu fighter. B) Trying to power out of submissions might work for low-percentage subs. I don't care who you are. Someone like Rickson takes your back and starts choking you, you aren't going to power out of it.

MMA and wrestling are not the same thing. Look at what GSP is doing to all the wrestlers turned MMA fighters. I love and respect wrestling, but you can't rely solely on it in MMA. Nor can you rely on strength.

  • Incredible...

  • Can''t agree more, not bashing on Gracie or what so ever. But I think Karelin would indeed had dominated UFC

  • he would have dominate UFC even today

  • Karelin would have taken UFC 1 easily...

  • Yeah. With his talents for sure. Hell, he could have taken out even Rickson in his prime.

With enough MMA training (1 year or so of intensive training), Karelin would have been the UFC HW champ.

  • No doubt man,

Plenty of people believe Rickson would have taken Karelin.

But I doubt it due to the 60+ pounds weight difference (of pure muscle) on Karelin. As well as the fact that Karelin was possibly the greatest wrestler ever. Super human almost.

Karelin had trained Sambo, so he must have known a couple of submissions. I've also heard he trained a bit of boxing.

UFC 1 would have been Karelin via. domination, IMHO.

  • People believe alot of things about Rickson they wouldn't believe for long if he would actually fight some of these people they give him a chance against on paper. For christs sake, Rickson vs Karelin? Are you kidding me. Given the psychotic amount of strength and the obvious wrestling abilities, I highly doubt there's ever been a better equipped person rolling around on the ground than Karelin.

  • he will defeat everyone even today

  • Karelin is a superhuman. I remember watching him in the 2000 olympics and just was in awe. His dimensions where like no other opponents. 6'4" and like 260lbs, but lean. What was even more impressive was his record.

He will forever be at the pinnacle of Greco-Roman wrestling, and wrestling overall.

  • 6'3 and 286-295 lbs

  • If Karelin got into MMA even at his age, he would crush Lesnar like a child. Fedor though would probably beat Karelin at any age because he is Fedor and he would probably armbar him.

  • I think that Fedor would have a very good chance at losing to The General. I think that if he got into mma he would be the toughest match he's had and would also dominate any other competitor i know that being huge dosent make you good but godamn hes more than just huge hes got athletic ability far beyond any other mma fighter as far as im concerned serioulsly how many mma guys have 3 Oly. golds and about 9 world golds None!

  • if mma was an olympic sport then a couple people would have 3oly golds.

  • "How many guys have 3 Olympic golds and 9 world golds!" Are you fucking kidding me? Since when is MMA an olympic sport. What kind of relevance does having olympic golds and being a top fighter in MMA have? MMA isn't wrestling btw.

  • no im not kidding you and i never said mma was an olympic sport. the relevance of his Olympic golds and world success is that someone with his almost unheard of dominance in a one on one sport that has roots in mma he would have the upper hand in transitioning over to fighting. dont get so worked up aout it :)

  • come on. karelin is way too old for any fighting.

back then he would have ruled

  • he's like a huge lion

  • what song is this?

  • sounds like lamb of god

  • when he was listening to his coach, he was on his knees and bouncing up and down. lawl

  • lol did u see the guy hes sparring with

  • hahaha, hihihi, huhuhu, now GTFO!

  • fedor would smash karelin.

  • exacly, HAHA

  • don't be so sure..

it will be a great fight though

  • Karelin in his prime, if he were to transition to MMA would be the single most unstoppable force the face of the earth has ever seen.

  • thats exactly what i was thinking, if karelin went into mma like fedor... i dare not say

  • I'm very sure. Wrestling isn't fighting.

  • fedormight get anally raped

  • No but its possibly the best base you can have, and excellent wrestlers make excellent transitions into mma, koscheck, fitch, lesnar, hughes, sherk, tyson griffin, tito ortiz, randy couture, dan henderson.

karelin is better than all of them.
