  • Mark Waugh was the finest catcher in the history of cricket. He was an astonishing fielder, in the class of Jonty Rhodes and Vic Richards.

  • Wow what a great catch

  • LALALALALLAAAAAAAAA SUPERMAN 5

  • If we had referral to third umpires, it would be one to the ICC

  • Remarkable anticipation

  • Note the hang time :)

    Unbelievable!!!

  • Junior! He made everything look easy.

  • @prwilkinson he did indeed, he just looked so layed back, everything he did on the field seemed effortless!

  • credit to warne too. the drift is what made cairns play towards midwicket.

  • Im surprised Indian fans haven't come on here and said its not a catch because when he lands the ball touch the ground. Shows you how ridiculous that Sydney Test beatup was. Btw, 13 years on and Ricky Ponting hasnt aged a bit! lol

  • @Jazzaaaaa1

It touching the ground was always secondary to whether the ball was under control. That thing was wedged in his hand.

  • @Jazzaaaaa1, LOL I know right? Bloody stupid the fuss that was made over those two supposedly grounded catches. Honestly anybody who complained about them has either never even played the game, or they were just having a big old whinge because India lost. Most of them the latter.

Junior was one of the best fielders in the business. Can't think of many better catchers.

  • @Jazzaaaaa1

There's a difference between getting a few blades of grass touching the ball while your hand is still under it, and actually grounding the cricket ball.

  • @jumpnjza2 But my point is when Waugh took the catch he landed on top of the ball, thus technically 'grounding' it. To me and everyone that see's this, it's a catch. What Clarke and Ponting did in that Sydney Test was no different. Gavaskar and co's problem with those catches was when Ponting dived, he caught it and landed on top of the ball, just like this. They had no problem with Clarke catching it, it was after taking it, his weight went back and he 'grounded' the ball, again just like this.

  • that ball stays caught!

  • he caught that

  • Mark Waugh. Excellent batsman, excellent fielder and handy with the ball.

  • @keithbontrager outstanding fielder*
