  • A MATERPIECE!

  • My grandfather was in the SS in Berlin!

So I'm not a NAZI, but my grandfather was in the Berlin of Hitler's bodyguard, the name of my grandfather was: HELMUT HENN!

  • I miss the good movies like these!!

  • i dont remember the elivator scene from original film , so long ago now .but in reality hell is not real . inventeted by the catholics to keep bums on seats in fear and to pay them. the reality is when god said if you eat from the tree of knowledge of good and bad you will die . not live on some where else in torment as some so called christian religions will have you believe , but that is it ,the end , till the resurection. then thats another story

  • this is one creepy ,scary film , that for some reason i still wanna look back on .imagine doing some thing terrible or being some one really bad and not knowing it ,then discovering it ,ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. That would be aweful, !

  • This is a great ending and gave me nightmares for months. Rourke is the very definition of quiet despertion at the end before he gets into that elevator to hell.

  • Creepy Bobby D at 7:45

  • Best Rourke's film so far

  • ROSETTA WEST - UNDERGROUND

  • Das ist aber die Wahrheit, mein lieber Freund!!

  • Unless that aint your gun up her snatch talk about a bang lmfao

  • I would love to see Rourke and Denzel do a detective film together!!

  • who can explain, what means the elevator at the end? his soul goes to hell?

  • @fantom6150

    something like that:)

  • @fantom6150 YES! throughout the film you see the elevator going down, I think each incident he has with one of his old allies, Cypher is waiting for him to realize who he really is and then step foot on that elevator but he drifts back and forth between Angel and Favorite. Alan Parker says in the commentary that he intentionally had the fan blow to show favorite is about to do something evil[paraphrasing]

  • @fantom6150 Yes...all through the movie there are subtle symbolic images in the movie. There is one quck scene showing Cyphre, Johnny and Harald walking down the stairs at the Waldorf towards the elevator.

  • Mickey Rourke is such an underestimated actor...

  • @PsychotronicWar Should have been Brando's heir apparent not sappy Johnny Depp!

  • @daxeboy9 : Agreed. Mr. Rourke has this decayed element. Mr. Depp is good, but still mainstream...

  • @achimDU1 Alright, let's see what you said...

"Great, I'm heart angel. My grandfather was in the SS in Berlin!

So I'm not a NAZI, but my grandfather was in the Berlin of Hitler's bodyguard, the name of my grandfather was: HELMUT HENN!

That's the truth You can mail me happy, but it's really true, my grandpa knew Hitler!"

    Totally irrelevant to this video.

    Völlig irrelevant, um dieses Video.

  • To this day, I still say - This films twist is the one I judge all others by; After all, the "Good guy..?" (Rourke) WAS the "Bad guy..." & the bad guy (DeNiro) was even worse! They should have just GIVEN Rourke the Oscar that year! (Nevermind DeNIro's efforts - He remains the Devil all others are judged by!)

  • That easily ranks amongst the top 5 most disturbing endings

  • @joesmoe71 its scary to think that we could do things as humans that we are not aware of and believe me ive done them already but not like this i might add

  • They cut Angle's last line short, originally it was "I know.... in hell..."

  • In the past I´ve never realised that the real Harry Angel is also played by DeNiro.

  • @VitoPossilipo No. DeNiro is played by Chyper (Satan). Angel was Rourke. Really? You didn't know that?

  • @CVargas No, I´ve meant the real Harold Angel, whose heart was removed. He is the young soldier turning and the man in the black robe. He is played by a clean shaved Robert DeNiro. Director Alan Parker said that he made it the way that Satan took the shape of Harold Angel in order to give the audience a "real headscratcher".

  • Just rediscovered this. I remembered it was good, but not this good. One of the best films I have ever seen.

  • Comment removed

  • ROSETTA WEST

  • are the subtitles in spanish?

  • @FlagOfInfiniteKarate No, Brazilian Portuguese.

  • I don't think he knows until he talks to Ethan Kruzmark. When he talks to Deniro in the church he seems completely baffled.

  • @trulysarcastic

Deep inside, he knows right from the beginning.

  • 3 people gonna burn themselves for this...

    we know...

  • At the very end you can hear "Johnny? Harry?" in whispers.

  • maybe someone already wrote that here: but isnt there something missin at the end? Johnny sayin: I know. In hell.

and than his grandson looks at him and makes that same gesture like lucifer with those yellow eyes

  • @reelsweet25 That is true indeed. Book is better, and thats saying something, cos the film is fucking excellent!

  • @reelsweet That is true indeed.

  • Poor Johnny....What shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his own soul?...True then. True now.....

  • Fascinating picture, could have been better(a bit slow), but very intriguing plot and story. This movie shows how mood and atmosphere makes a film. Great acting. But one thing remains unclear: Did he know the truth the whole time, it's what I asked myself after seeing it

  • @horticulteurdunord yeh felt it was a bit slow too sometimes/heavy to digest. but some scenes are so fascinating and beautiful even so. imo harry never knew, but started wondering perhaps when being told about the ceremony (perhaps why he got so sick before killing that man..- his memory being jogged or something) - but it still crushed him seeing the names on those dog tags. just my opinion though. :) what i wonder is what he had planned to do had louis not showed up.

  • @horticulteurdunord I think he began to suspect. He's a detective, after all...the coincidences and the clues kept building up and building up... I think that towards the end, he was in denial... but even before he broke the vase and read the dog tags, I think his worst fear was that his suspicions would turn out to be true.. and of course they did.

  • @horticulteurdunord If he knew the truth the whole time, why did he take the case? He had no memory of who he was. Louis hired him to jog his memory.

  • @horticulteurdunord I doubt he knew, Rourke's expressions were amazing. Sometimes you could see like he knew but I doubt it! I loved the pacing of the film in fact Rourke's frantic pace lends so well to it.

  • if anyone has read the book tell me the difference between the ending of the book and the ending of the movie. I heard the book version takes place strictly in New York is that true?

  • Mickey always dismisses this performance, that he didn't think much of the movie and was getting ready to quit acting. I think he's fabulous and it's a very good movie.

  • Micky Rourke in his good looking days :-)

  • @honeegrrl funny thing about getting old...it's gonna happen to you too.

  • The same shit that happened to Mickey Rourke's character happened to the devil when he came face to face with Chuck Norris.

  • how terrible is wisdom when it brings no profit to the wise, Johnny.....

  • Sort of the same thing happened to me yesterday.

  • GIRL OF MY DREAMS I LOVE YOU ,HONEST I DO YOU ARE SO SWEET IF I COULD JUST HOLD YOUR CHARMS AGAIN IN MY ARMS THEN LIFE WOULD BE COMPLETE , SINCE YOU'VE BEEN GONE DEAR LIFE DON''T SEEM THE SAME .PLEASE COME BACK AGAIN ,AND AFTER ALL SAID AND DONE THEIRS ONLY ONE GIRL OF MY DREAMS IT YOU

  • does anyone know the song and performer on the album

  • @ronpi4286 - if it's the blues tune by Toots Sweet, that'll be Brownie McGhee in real life and the song is Rainy, Rainy day - was that the one you meant?

  • @ronpi4286 I think Otis Redding was featured

  • Hah - end of the film: most casual arrest ever.

  • I love Mickey Rourke!

  • denise huxtable's titties, woo-hoo!! try to download the sex scene between rourke and bonet!!

  • ho, I forget... for Rourke's 80's lover... find Homeboy with Debra Feuer... a really great movie...

  • I ever look for the song when H.Angel look for the voodoo ceremony... blue light of 40's cars... shoo shoo shine now ! or something like that

  • you can get it on many "T" like 411 but it's

one of the best movie of the 80's with Blade runner and The outsiders...

  • Anyone know where i can find the whole movie online??

  • rourke is so filthy throughout the whole movie i LOVE it!

  • @dlander89 Its dumb to compare "Devils Advocate" with "Angel Heart" - totally different kinds of films. Still, "Devils Advocate" was excellent, really done well but I can keep going back to "Angel Heart" and see something different everytime. Also, Rourke and Deniro bouncing off eachother is a thing of great beauty. Pacino had Keanu Reeves to work off of. Mickey Rourke was GREAT in this.

  • Well, that was wierd...wait a minute, didn't he pecker probe that chick that was on the bed?! That was his daughter?! Eeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwww!

  • @dlander89 Dont even compare those movies u moron -.-

  • @GlabRudzinski Dude, he didn't do anything wrong. Shut up.

  • Al Pacino is a better devil actor :)

  • @vegarofl Two different devils. No comparison

  • What is the name of the song in the clip, and who is the artist?

  • this film scared the hell out of me... it's so symbolic

  • One of the best films of the eighties

  • Rourke gives one of the best performances in a Horror Movie EVER!

Kinda rotten of you to ruin the ending for so many people.

This movie is awesome on Blu Ray or DVD..

    Buy it for like $12....

YouTube picture quality sucks...it's worth a purchase or rental...

  • what's the name of the song of the record that de niro puts in the turntable???

  • At the very end you hear someone whispering "Harry? Johnny?"

Can someone explain that to me? Maybe use a spoiler warning

  • @Roman888 It's meant to be Harry Angel meeting Johnny Liebling (Favorite) in hell (symbolized by Rourke's decent on the old elevator).

  • @jjobie Er, that should say "descent" not "decent." lol

  • This is the most creepiest scene i ever seen.

  • in movies, usually the characters that piss off robert de niro don't end up too well.

  • book was better. hands down no doubt about it. people have stopped reading though, given up.

  • youfoolwarenisdead,i couldn't have said it better myself! interestingly, the editing of the demon kid and harry saying "in hell" are the two changes i always wanted to make to the ending...

  • The direction, the sets, the acting, the sound, the music, the atmosphere... i don't get it! I mean, i don't get why everyone doesn't jerk off to this movie?

  • @YouFoolWarrenIsDead hahahhah, i agree! well said. lmao. though i believe we wouldn't have to cause at the end, the movie was so good, we all came anyway. :P

  • @spretten Fuck yes son we must all cum at this shit in summer solstice 2010!

  • Why was *In Hell* faded out at the end? Why'd you do that?

  • @PlanetSledge I think it might have been the network where this was shown on TV. I suspect that it was broadcast in another country or something and their TV standards are different. The scene with the child and its demonic eyes is also missing here.

  • Mickey Rourke has the best performance ever in a movie!!

  • Angel Heart

    otimo filme

  • The devil took Johnny's gun and dogtags, it was a set-up

  • Didnt u see the devil take johnny's gun and dogtags, it was a set-up. The devil did the last killing, that's why Johnny ran back to try an save her

  • I still don't know why Johnny killed Epiphany. She is Johnnys daughter right?

  • No matter how cleverly you spread your ass, your culo still looks you straight in the eye.

  • The best twist endings belong to Angel Heart and The Usual Suspects.

  • Funny how these days the studios go to great lengths to make artistic end credit sequences, and yet my favorite is Mickey Rourke descending in an old-fashioned cage elevator.

  • @MichiganLuc They have missed the point now days.I agree with you totally . Simplicity is the key,our imaginations will do the rest,we dont need all these stupid ass effects . This movie scared the hell out of me.

  • This film is Rourke's finest work

  • "WHO WAS THE BOOOOOY?!!!!"

  • Please post this whole movie!

  • try to find it on torrent

  • @lannnmi

    where the post ?

  • @Krissy19986 this is a great movie....buy it you cheap son of bitch....show the aritists some repsect...

  • DeNiro's devil is better than Al Pacino's in "Devils Advocate".

  • @Russobor54

    Agreed...more subtle and sinister.

  • @Russobor54 YES!!!!! DeNiro was exactly what I picture the devil to be... always lurking in the background, silently influencing but not directly interfering. You can feel his presence throughout the movie .... ABSOLUTELY CREEPY!!!!

  • The flesh is weak, Johnny. Only the soul is immortal....AND YOURS BELONGS TO ME!!!!

  • No matter how cleverly you sneak up on a mirror, your reflection always looks you straight in the eye.

  • @oneofspades thats why you need to be able to look in the mirror without hesitation... great flick

  • @TomthatiscalledTom I read that, and randomly skipped ahead and landed right on that line...........(Twilight zone theme)

  • "You're gonna burn for this Angel".

"I know". Brilliant. DeNiro and Rourke are excellent in this movie. And of course Lisa. Beautiful...

  • Mickey Rourke used to be soooo attractive. I do not know what the big deal was when L.B. did this movie. She's an actress that has the right to take any role she wants. (Regardless of sitcom agreements). I am speaking as if I were in her shoes.

  • I live here.

  • Bill Cosby was not happy when Lisa Bonet did this movie. But oh well.

  • i love this movie.. wish I had the dvd!!! love love love

  • can you imagine finding out you are not who you always thought you were. I'd freak out, Rourke gives a great performance of someone trying to convince himself he's who he thinks he is, then slowly realizing he's johnny liebling

  • Really, amazing performance. Rourke is amazing. Top five actors I've ever seen.

  • that hazel eyed baby had to change his dipers

  • Wheres the baby ??????

  • wheres the baby pointing at him?

  • It's amazing how much younger he looks without it. The beard adds roughly 10 years to his appearance.

  • Indeed...I had the same beard but shaved it and everybody says that I look ten years younger...

  • if anyone has this film & can upload it, it would be greatly appreciated.

  • you know the end. it's all ruined

  • just buy the movie, it's worth owning, trust me

  • the first part of the most awesome awesome awesome scene in the history of cinema!!!!!!!!!!

  • the always awesome Mickey Rourke !

  • Louis Cyphre = Lucifer

    scary movie

  • what a fucking cunt 'louis ciphre' was...

  • his real name was liebling

  • Fantastic..

  • DeNiro was truly badass in this scene

  • So well directed by Parker and acted by Rourke it makes me cry, also to see the fact that despite being so underrated, there is still an audience who appreciates this movie like it deserves.

  • I had to watch this movie like 3 times to figure out the story. Good movie. Everyone played their parts very well.

  • 5:46 really, really scared the piss out of me : O

  • awesome performance by rourke

  • Robert De Niro's eerie and subtle performance has to be the most frightening Devil I've seen. Always in the background, quietly influencing, but never directly interfering. Exactly what I would picture the devil to be. Marvelous and perfect performance by Bobby.

  • The last remark by Johnny is cut off.

If I remember correctly after the cop says:" You will burn for this, Angel." , Johnny replies: " I know. In hell."

  • yep

  • with the little baby having devils eyes too

  • Why were the scenes with the boy edited out?

  • Oh, he's dead. Nasty accident!

  • How did he killed hr daughter? gunshot through the vagina?

  • Yeah! sick...

  • that is one disturbing innuendo

  • Yes, that's what happened. This is such a terrifying movie.

  • love this movie, esp rourke

  • you cut out the ending with the kid and stuff

  • i wish someone would upload the whole movie here.

  • who you are johne?

    I like to be Ireland.

  • John want to be agave.

  • Gross, drowned in gumbo!

  • I 'll join with orangejuiceandgasoli: thankyou for putting this up!

It's fine that you putted up the whole scene right from the point where he is told the story by the elder man and starts to sense that he is Johnny himself.

  • Thank you on you compliments :)
