call it Sorrento or Dean Martino..I have visited Surriento & Amalfi since 1963 M.A.T.S

Flight (Free Military) & have RITORNO 17 Times. Each time I remain longer duration. As in any other tourist city the locals will eat you alive unless you know how to

converse with people. Go into the PENSIONAIRE Hotels (Retirement) much

less Lira/Euro. Restaurants sit at counter bar you will not pay waiter (Continued

will be amazed what you will enjoy for a small pittance. In NYC Most people there eat in DELIs The never close and have hot food made daily. Stay away from RAO's Phony restaurant. When I had my restaurant I knocked the proverbial

socks from them My food was 10 X better & my business 40 X Volume and my prices lower. BUONA FORTUNA

Sorrento is a lovely place. I stayed here this summer in a convent set up to accommodate tourists. The convent looked over towards Mt. Vesuvius. Convents and monasteries are all over Italy and so many of them offer cheap, clean, safe and well-located accommodation.

It has been many years since I have been to Sorrento. It has changed much. It is still beautiful, and I'll bet the food is still exquisite.

We usually go to Venice (my first love) but my son is getting married in Sorrento this year so this video was marvellous.

You are right you can get ripped off there. It is a tourist town so sometimes the locals do try to take advantage. I spend a year in Italy and visited there several times. I actually find I enjoy the more out of the way places that aren't over-run by tour buses. Also in my opinion Italy should be avoided in July and August (completely over-run) Best to go in the Spring or Fall.
