  • There are things that Elvis could do that The Beatles couldn't and The Beatles could do things that Elvis couldn't. At the end of the day, they were both still idols and women loved them regardless. Nuff said

  • Elvis and the Beatles are both great artists. But they are completely different acts. Let's stop trying to compare them and recognize them as they should be. Elvis is the greatest solo artist in history and the Beatles are the greatest band in history. They both influenced generations and they are both fantastic!

  • Elvis Presley and The Beatles are the two Greatest ever, Stones can say they are the greatest r&r band, but no one and no band cand compare too the two Greatest Music Icons in the history of music. I never get tired of listen to either of these Great person or band. They both left me up when I am feeling down. I lived through the greatest music period of time. i am now 60, yet don't feel it at all. Late 50's through too the late 70's are where the best music was and is ever created.

  • Good info! Thank you ♥

  • Impressive and excellent fine performance by this king of no classical music.Elvis was a miracle,an extraordinary perfectionist.IMMORTAL...

  • elvis was the very first rock star, and rightly so, there would be no rock n roll if it wasnt for elvis, we all forget it was elvis who took black gospel, hymms, blues and blended them into a new musical form, rock n roll, elvis was an innovator, never a copier, whether he wrote all his songs is irrelevant, tom parker led him away from all this for the mighty dollar and made elvis go hollywood, elvis was so controlled by him, he lost sight of his career and rock n roll suffered.

  • @elvisworldwide Also remember, tom parker had a controlling interest in elvis's life, always making elvis go for the almighty dollar instead of having elvis's musical integrity as his first interest, parker ended up selling elvis out, he had such a control over elvis, having brought him his initial sucess, that everything he wanted elvis to do, he did, if elvis was more assertive, he would've fired parker and took control of his own career, ditching those movies, and staying a recording star.

  • wake up....it was the bloody colonel, unfortunately Elvis never stood up to him.....

  • I'm not big on covers, but I have to give Elvis his props here. He did a damn fine job on this song.

  • I love Elvis, for his voice, his love for Gospel and his contribution to music. But.....how many songs did he actually write?..........the answer itself shows the gulf between him and Lennon / McCartney

  • @gnossticc Does Justin Bieber impersonate Elvis? If not, then it is some other Elvis impersonator, a pretty good one, sing well, good voice but doesn't sound like Elvis. If it don't sound like Elvie, well, it ain't Elvis.

  • Ringo comment about Elvis is on another youtube clip (unless someone fake Ringo's voice as they did with Elton John bashing Hilary which he never actually did).

  • Elvis did not hate the Beatles, it was Colonel Tom Parker that stood in the way of Elvis' desire to do serious movies and Elvis wanted to hang with the Beatles, but his schedule made by the Colonel kept him from that.

  • Tou Fool, yes this is Elvis singing Hey Jude. AND Elvis did NOT hate the Beatles.

  • no elvis no beattles so get over it people

  • what the hell was ringo star talking about when he said that elvis thought the beattles were bad for american music. You should never listen to a rumour unless it comes from the person himself. Elvis didnt hate the beattles he did a few covers of theres. Dalehill buddy did you meet elvis...if nt then shut the hell up!!

  • this Elvis, and if Elvis hated the Beatles why did he do so many covers of their work..?

  • @lizmiranda62 - That kind of logic is too simple for Elvis' haters to comprehend.

  • This is not Elvis... But it sounds good anyways.

  • @honorableron - question mark followed by an exclamation point.

  • Elvis hated the Beatles-it's that simple.

  • Oh Steve how come I´ve never seen this awesome video before?, I love your picture story. Great research as usual. And the classical Elvis quote " "If you guys are gonna sit there staring at me, then I go to bed"....oh I love it! Playlisted!

    Maggan

  • the beatles > elvis

  • @KrazyKKid

John Lennon: " Without Elvis, there would be no Beatles!"

  • @jujamb89 without the Beatles there would be none of the legendary bands.

  • @20cFilmWannabe Buddy Holly and the Crickets came before the Beatles, it was said the name Beatles was inspired by the name Crickets. There was also other bands before Beatles also such as Bill Haley and the Comets, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, and so on so if they showed up or not other great bands would still happen.

  • @hydrolito im not sure you understand how influential the Beatles were and still are, OK there were bands before them of course, but the Beatles were ridiculously talented and successful,

  • @Ferran975 It was twenty years ago today, Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play, They've been going in and out of style, But they're guaranteed to raise a smile, So may I introduce to you, The act you've known for all these years, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, That the singer's going to sing a song

And he wants you all to sing along,So let me introduce to you, The one and only Billy Shears

  • @Ferran975 yes folks Elvis left the military service as Sgnt, Elvis sang lots of songs 'bout lonelyness, Sgnt. Pepper taught the band to play -Paul sings-, they didn't put Elvis's picture among the"people we like" that's the main clue to point Elvis as Sgnt. Pepper

  • @AaronBuzzer - This is intriguing. But what about the beginning of the song? "It was twenty years ago today, sgt pepper taught the band to play."

  • @elvisworldwide i guess Paul wrote it this way 'cause twenty fit better than ten or twelve years ago, i mean try to sing it like this just don't work

  • @AaronBuzzer - You're right. It does. I like the idea of SP's as a tribute album to EP. Then I researched Billy Shears. "He is the band leader of the Lonley Hearts Club Band. It's Ringo Starr who plays the Part. He used the name again on his album Ringo. The Beatles made the album as a way to escape touring and they adopted the role of the Lonley Hearts Club Band. The whole album is supposed to be like a performance."

That said, I want the Sgt Pep album to be a tribute to EP.

  • @elvisworldwide more than a tribute i think there's a hidden reference to EP in the album

  • @elvisworldwide i wish i could ask Paul and Ringo 'bout it all

  • Wow, this is so amazing I love Elvis and the Beatles. Thank you for sharing this....Two Best Rockers of all time...Yeah!!!

  • I'm surprised you don't have anything about how when George first heard Heartbreak Hotel it was thought for him as an epiphany of sorts which inspired him learn more and the encouragement to learn how to play guitar.

  • I'm surprised you don't have anything about how when George first heard Heartbreak Hotel it was thought for him as an epiphany of sorts which inspired him learn more and the encouragement to learn how to play guitar.

  • I seriously dislike that version of Hey Jude. But nice slideshow and story, I didn't know some sof these quotes.

  • this all of a sudden reminds me of the scene from nowhereboy where john lennon says: "why didn't god make me ELVIS" and his mom says: "because he was saving you to be john lennon"...

  • tataraver602 - I am always reminded that Elvis' mere existence did more for the Black experience than John's splendid words ever did.

  • Actually sad that there is no footage of this then again it would have been fake so I guess the recollection of what happened may have been best.

  • Elvis is the greatest but his vocal on Hey Jude is one of the mega-rare recordings that he is a little flat on, especially the first time he says "sad SONG". He was an absolute perfectionist so it is REALLY hard to find flaws in his work but this is one that somehow got released that he didn't nail for some reason. Interesting, but I never really cared for the song anyway. There are so many other songs by the Beatles that are much better.

  • Vegas01973 - Fair enough. Elvis sang the song as a test to see if it would work in concert; used as album filler. It wasn't his favorite Beatles' song either. The song was written for Julian to comfort him after John's divorce. John was an huge Elvis fan. Elvis sings it here. That simple.

  • @elvisworldwide Right on. I actually like the Beatles song "India" more than Hey Jude. I don't know if it was an early version of the song or not but there are some similar changes. :) At any rate, long live the King!

  • Like a lot of people in the UK ,the first Elvis record I heard was Heartbreak HoteL. It was so different, that it took a few listenings to take it in. Later, listening to People who attended Elvis's early live shows tell how the hairs on the back of their neck bristled watching him, and just knowing he was going to be a star.I am reminded of watching three pre-fame Beatles shows . It was that same uncanny feeling, of knowing they were destined for the same stardom. Rare talents indeed.

  • @frankiehiyo - What's also rare is intelligent and classy comments like yours. Thank you.

  • @elvisworldwide Thank's for the complement.

If some people on here think that the Beatles had no stage presents, they are wrong.

They had that same indefinable something on stage that Elvis had. As I said, I had the privilege of watching the Beatles when Pete Best was the drummer. In those days they were so different from anyone else. The Beatles as good as they were had an Elvis Influence. I could only imagine what it would be like watching Elvis in the Uk.. Stars, but in their own right.

  • I heard elvis tried getting the beatles kicked out of america or something like that

  • I've heard an unsubstantiated rumor at the time that Elvis gave Ringo, who was a bit of a gun afficiando, a western style holster for a Colt .45 six shooter. Cool!

  • ELVIS> BEATLES

  • Elvis was the Cornbread Mafia King, while The Beatles became serious composers, and arbiters of cultural change. I know which one I preferred.

  • The greates band of all time vs. the greatest solo rock artist of all time. I don't see a reason why to compare between the 2.

  • @MrThemeParkAudios i love elvis and i am a massive fan plus i have a huge admiration for the fab four..elvis liked the beatles and they respected him :)

  • In respect I really enjoyed your video & never knew about the King w/the Fab 4 getting together like that? Interesting info in that time era. But both artists had their music & legendary sounds that inspired many young artist in the 60s. Being from Chicago & remembering those days was an era to remember. Rolling Stones vs Beatles were the top legends. Elvis was in a class by himself. That is why they called him "The King!" Don't forget...The Animals, Doors, Buckinghams & so many more!

  • I saw them both live and let me tell you that the Beatles were pretty tame as compared to Elvis. Elvis was just astonishing. His voice and presence were just from another world. The Beatles voices were just regular ones and their presence was not that paralyzing.Though I think the Beatles were great songwriters.

  • I always thought that despite what the Colonel had done for Elvis in early career he was not in the long run a good influence, in my opinion. No recordings when Elvis was in the Army, i don't think that was necessary. More importantly pushing Elvis into encreasingly poor movie roles with eventually decreasing receipts. The worst was in 1963 when the Colonel decided that there was too much "Elvis procducts" on the market. He chose the movies over the music. Elvis made no new music until 1968

  • nice video..

  • @PokerPlum I agree. As a huge Elvis fan, I hate all this Elvis vs. Beatles stuff. In my opinion, Elvis is the greatest solo artist of all time.....The Beatles are the greatest band and songwriters of all time. I personally see no need for comparison.

  • @PokerPlum Over half a million people don't visit any of the Beatles homes every year. So sorry, you don't.

  • ELVIS IS MUCH BETTER THEN BEATLES..I HATE THEM..THEY'RE SO BORING.....SORRY...BUT THAT'S MY OPINION...

  • WERE CAN I GET THAT PAINTING?

  • Its a shame theres no audio or visual record of this meeting. Apart from the distant pic that was taken outside Elvis home when the Beatles were leaving. Then theres the mystery of what they sang or didn't sing. According to the Beatles in Anthology there was no Jam session but other sources say there was. I'm into both Elvis and The Beatles and I'm not snobby about Elvis either. I enjoy everything he did from beginning to end including the films and even the final TV Special.

  • The Beatles were big Elvis fans.

Elvis was vital for their creation as a group. That is why they wanted son mad to meet him. They tried many times and finally they did so in 1965.

  • People who talk sh*t about Elvis will do well to remember this. You don't see people turning out for the Beatles like they do Elvis year in and year out.

  • I love both, have all of both their recordings.

  • i really dont care what other people think about the beatles or elvis. everyone has different tastes in music. personally i love both of their music, because they have their own styles.

  • @thebeatlesfreak100 THE BEATLES ARE A BUNCH OF GAY STONERS !

  • ELVIS IS BETTER!

  • The enforced break that took Elvis out of the music business was the best thing for him in the long run. By the early 60's, rock n roll had become tame..( even Elvis was releasing droopy ballads, the 'Hillbilly Cat' was long gone )...the music scene needed a kick up the ass that bands like The Beatles, Rolling Stones , Dylan and Hendrix ..etc provided. The entire world embraced this change because it was fresh and new.

By the time Elvis came back in the late 60's, he was re-newed again.

  • celt67 - Thank you for an intellectually honest, decent and fair assessment of Elvis vis a vie R&R history. I should only argue that the "droopy ballads" as you put it are inextricably woven into the fabric of Elvis' music. There is diminishment to his unique legacy without the songs from the 60's integrated musicals. Elvis abhorred the idea of recording subversive, anti-establishment tunes common during the Viet Nam era, but he would have kicked ass on a cover of The Stones' "Satisfaction".

  • @elvisworldwide Epic fail, dude! LOL!!! You dunno sh%$ bout Elvis, ya poser.

The Beatles were raising the stakes across the board...and Elvis comes out with fu%$in "Clambake" pfff. You know what the King shoulda done? Fired Col. Parkers ass and gotten himself hooked up with a young lads that was on the up and up in England by 68...A one Jimmy Page and the Yardbirds.

  • @RideMyBMW - You're delusional. For all their greatness, the "young lads" fired themselves. "Hey, we can't get along and we suck in concert, so let's break up." Brilliant move. Elvis unwittingly created his own genre of film. An Elvis movie musical is unique. He was the highest-paid actor in Hollywood in the mid-60's. Should he have dropped the films and hired songwriters to write cryptic 60's fare like Rocky Racoon to make dimwits like you happy? Come on, dude. Use your large brain.

  • @RideMyBMW ELVIS WAS GREAT .BUT YOU CANT IN ANYWAY COMPARE HIM TO THE BEATLES WITH ALL THEIR GREAT WRITTING,DOING SO MUCH WITH THE FEW THINGS TO USE THAT WERE AVAILABLE IN THE STUDIO TO ADVANCE MUSIC INTO WHAT NO ONE HAD EVER DONE BEFORE.& AS FAR AS TOUR SUCK IN CONCERT COMMENT.IF THE CROWED IS SO LOUD YOU CANT HEAR WHAT YOUR PLAYING I FEAL THEY DID A GREAT JOB,DEALING WITH THAT.& THEY HAVE BEEN ON THE TOP OF THE CHARTS FOR OVER 30 YEARS MAN.& MADE MORE $ LAST YR THEN ANYONE ELSE.SO NOT BAD.

  • @BLUESMAN1221 - I think you were responding to me and not RideMyBMW - maybe I'm wrong. Fact is - chicks screamed at Elvis concerts. They screamed at Stones concerts. Etc etc etc. Didn't inhibit them from performing well in concert. The Beatles were at their best in a studio; John even said so. That said, I agree with you. We'll be listening to The Beatles long after today's bands are long forgotten.

  • @BLUESMAN1221 yeah beatle were good.but nothing individualy. Not worth damn on there own... bealte's did things that wasnt done before? thats a bit rich. If anyone should get credit for making a move in the right direction that influneced the bealtes to do what they did. Cred would go to Buddy holly and the crickets- All song writers, sang in harmonies...etc.

  • all 5 of them together would have been pretty fuckin awesome to see

  • @thebeatlesfreak100 elvis was before the beatles -_- then the beatles became popoular :P

  • @buttersXkennyfan ELVIS WAS BETTER!

  • @thebeatlesfreak100 I guess you are one of those nuts that are still hallucinating, get a grip on life and know the facts.

  • @willhaveagoodlaugh the lyrics by John Lennon to The Beatles great song, "A Day In The Life" just sold for 1.2 million....Elvis was just a half a music loaf..his early stuff was great no doubt about it, but Elvis musically couldnt touch THE BEATLES or John & Paul..

give me a break you dont know your music...Elvis after the 50's & The Beatles landing in 1964 was done, then in 1977 Elvis went out a loser.

No one will ever top The Beatles 1964-70 music run

    Stop all the bullshit here!

  • Loved this upload!

  • Ya ya ya... you write as if you are trying to prove Elvis was above them. He was the King... Nobody is arguing that. But the Beatles weer four guys and they were more complete than any other band ever. Elvis was one person. Not four. He could never be as complete or as talented as four Beatles. Elvis was all alone in his bubble while the Beatles had eachother. You can't really compare.

  • Wow! This was done exceptionally well...very impressed...and I didn't know Elvis ever did any of The Beatle songs.....coool. ;-)

  • @elvisworldwide - True.

Elvis still needed the services of professional writers, though - he would undoubtedly have had success doing cover versions of songs all the time, however to be REALLY successful he still needed a ready supply of fresh songs, such as In The Ghetto, The Wonder of You, etc.

Cover versions would have given him success, but maybe not on a megastardom scale. Debateable, of course.

  • @badgerfaye - Exactly. One correction: The Wonder of you was originally recorded by a Brit (forgot his name) in the late 50's, and by The Platters in the 60's. Suspicious Minds, on the other hand, goes to your point re original material, and I agree. Cheers.

  • @elvisworldwide I see, thanks for the information.

I wonder if the idea of John and Paul writing a song for Elvis was ever voiced at this meeting..................

  • @badgerfaye not then but later on john & paul talked about it to themselves

even george wanted to get involved..they didnt want to see the elvis go out like he was singing "polk salad andy" dressed as a rhinestone cowboy

elvis had no clue about music if so he would have covered some of lennon's great solo stuff or way more bob dylan material..elvis could have done a great live "lovely rita" by the beatles in my opinion

elvis in the 70's had become a joke in the real music world

    (trust me)

  • Amazing Video........Thanks for posting!!!!!!!

  • The Beatles and Elvis did not jam togeather. Watch the Beatles anthology, it didn't happen. Get it right or don't make false comments.

  • They did why won't you believe that..beastboy?

Not only did they jam together but the Beatles felt like they hit the doors of heaven for they were in Elvis's presence...enough to forget their strings.

  • I think the best advice I can give you,is to go get a copy of The History of Rock-n Roll. History speaks for it self..Elvis and the Beatles did jam togather, making it the highlight of their careers. READ what they themselves have to say about that day. Elvis is STILL King. The Beatles as far as they go, if they hadn't been able to write a half way decent song, they would have fizzled out long before THEY DID.Now go do your homework, then you might be able to add to a decent conversation. IFICould

  • @IFICould77

Should be noted that if he did not have anyone to write songs for him, Elvis's career would also have fizzled out!

  • @badgerfaye - Excuse me for butting in, Badger - but you are a champion of the obvious! It's like saying 'if someone didn't write scripts for Brando, then Brando's career would have fizzled out. Sinatra didn't write songs, neither did the Temptations. Your logic is flawed.

  • @elvisworldwide

I was just pointing out the illogicality of IFICould77's statement - he said that the Beatles career would have fizzled out if they had not been able to write a half decent song. The same, I would argue, can be said about any artist, including Elvis.

I am not having a go at Elvis, who was a great singer/performer! There is no need to be so defensive!

  • @Teotihuacan112

No need to be derogative of any artist - Elvis was a great singer and performer, Beatles were great song writers, as Elvis himself knew. In songwriting terms, the Beatles are lions!

As for the jam session, I heard that they did do one - a very knowledgeable Elvis fan told me so.

  • @beastboylien

the beatles anthology is a lie

  • @beastboylien Only John jammed with Elvis according to Ringo and George.

  • thegr8danwhite - This wasn't "jamming" like the '68 Special. There are varying accounts as to what extent they jammed. Joe Esposito remembers a FEW ’50s oldies, not Elvis tunes, Chuck Berry's Lucille - getting a run-through, though the left-handed McCartney had trouble doing much with a guitar strung for a right-hander. Jerry Schilling doesn’t recall any serious jamming; Ringo briefly beating the back of a guitar case. That said - John and Paul were The Beatles - George and Ringo were filler.

  • @thegr8danwhite According to Ringo, John and Elvis jammed in the basement. They both had guitars with them. That jamming session is what inspired Elvis to do the 68 comeback special.

  • thegr8danwhite - There was no goddamn basement at Perugia Way. There is no evidence whatsoever that Elvis and The Beatles "jamming" inspired the 68 Special. Elvis played music with his friends every day of his life. Stop the insanity.

  • @elvisworldwide According to a book written by Jerry Schilling, who was there that night, John and Elvis had a conversation where John suggested he get back to his roots and cuts some rocknroll again. That's what inspired the 68 special and Elvis' comeback thereafter.

  • thegr8danwhite - Nope. A misquote. Yes, John briefly suggested to Elvis that he (Elvis) get back to the music that he (John) had loved. However, the 68 Special was originally intended to be a Christmas special. Director Steve Binder watched E and musicians jamming between setups and determined to put same into show, against Parker's wants. The theater-in-the-round jam session was not Elvis' inspiration - but strickly happenstance. That said - John got his way - unwittingly.

  • Cool! thx a lot! :)

  • Awesome...

  • dont forget he also did LADY MADONNA

  • Another excellent upload!!!!!!!!!!!! 100* and fave

    LUMI

  • Awesome post full of real information. Thank you for doing a great job showing the respect between the best singer and the best band of the century....

    kElvis, great share....

  • Great,as always! Thanks for this and well done.

  • awesome post...:)

  • what a man. and the beatles were great. Elvis 4ever. thanks for sharing.

  • elvisworldwide your vids are always wonderful, full of surprises and very informative. I can't even explain with my poor english how much I enjoy them. Thank you very much for another great job.*****

Regarding deportation: Actually John Lennon approached Elvis with some advice on how to get around the government from deporting his a.. which Elvis did help him with, Elvis talked him into doing an anti drug campaign which if you watch Lennon's interview you'll see him wearing an Elvis button.

  • Thank you for video, I really enjoy this one.

  • Thankyou for this great share...Elvis will always be NO.1.

  • Elvis is the King.

Elvis was The Beginning.. and has left a great Legacy for everyone else..

EVERY Performer has yet to even glimpse The Great Talent of Elvis Presley!

  • Hey Steve. Great job my friend. Really love it. A favo.

    TCB. Jan.

  • cmon. later they found out elvis tried to get them deported.

  • You've got your facts all cockeyed. Elvis didn't try to get anyone deported. He cajoled Nixon into a Narcotics Badge, knowing full well that Nixon engaged in a "war on drugs and the counter culture." He wasn't serious about helping Nixon, he just wanted the badge.

Nixon's "enemies list included John Lennon. It's no secret that Nixon tried unsuccessfully to have Lennon deported for he on Viet Nam.

The question is- Can you live with the truth after so many years of existing with the lies?

  • hey i'm just quoting ringo. argue with him.

  • ringo said it in the anthology. not me.i dont care

  • Richard. Ringo. The second drummer. The substitute. The dejected one. The odd man out - possessing all the facts on Elvis' nafarious plans? Ringo's bias is well-known. He made no such claims while Elvis was living.

    Number 9, number 9, number 9...

  • uh oh..,. koo koo for cocoa puffs?

  • Koo koo kah choo, love. Peace.
