I just read a book about her to my 5 year old grand daughter - after reading the book to her she said "she is amazing!". She wanted to see Wilma Rudolph so I showed her many video clips of Wilma. She finally made a comment after this video "oh my - she IS amazing!!!!!".

She is my inspireation, She's amazing. I'm 12, and she's who I think of when I run, shes amazing and just like me, Slow in the bigining and faster at the end, Long Legs, Tall.. Just Like Me, I'm 5'5 And I'm 12. One of the tallest in my school. So when I see her, she is my inspreation.. if I got to meet her one day ( I know shes alive no more) but that would be amazing. My School Track & Field is coming up soon and i'm in everything running.. All I Can Do Is Think Of Her.. :)

If she was around today,I am sure the likes of Alison Felix would have Wilma breathing down her neck.

Can never understand why she retired so early.

@athlete5811 Most track stars quit early back then. Professionals weren't allowed, and by their mid 20's, most had to find a way to make a living. Because of this, we were deprived of seeing many great athletes in their primes. What might Wilma, Mark Spitz, and any number of ice skaters or gymnasts, been able to accomplish, had they been able to compete for their entire athletic primes, the way Carl Lewis did, or current athletes can. She could have been world class into the late 1970's.
