  • this is so much more fun to watch than mma lol

  • Osu!!

  • fet dåligt

  • haha wow, this is a blast from the past. The short kid in blue is indeed a "shootfighter".

Add to the fact though that I started training shootfighting in 2002 and this even was that same year. I had maybe 3 months of shootfighting before entering and need less to say, I had NO technique. Fun to see again. My opponent was a kung fu fighter for the guy who was wondering

  • haha, i was cheering for the Capoeira guy

  • Dear Jebu,

    Great videos

Why don't you post the result of this tourney

    Thanks

  • is the guy with shorts @ 4:48 really a thai boxer? looks more like..TKD

  • 2:22 OWNAGE

  • Lol that was so sneaky with the takedowns.

    Axe!

  • wtf... the capoeirista of the video sucks... more training plz!

  • its a dead end. Ok if you practice kyokushin karate the rules are heavily skewed in that direction but head punches surely are part of the martial arts arsenal?? not a patch on Dado Juku.

  • excellent video! 5 stars of David!

Let me guess no hands to the head?

  • @jesuskopp Yeah, no punches to the head, no elbows or knees either.

  • This is awesome fighting!!

No hands to the head changes the whole game!

I'm sure the no elbows and knees completely mess with the Thai styles?

  • Yeah, I can imagine they have it rough trying not to use their full repertoar of moves. It's the perfect competition if you're practising kyokushin karate, full contact to the body and only kicks to the face.

  • they look like dumb asses

    lmao

  • Just a comment to you that say that the rules are like made for kyokushin practitioners. I disagree. They use a point system with clickers in these rules witch. Kyokushin do not have points like that and even tough some ppl might miss to see the extreme different its still there.

Also they do not allow either knee nor elbow strikes witch for some practitioners in kyokushin is a real pain.

So the rules are not really good for kyokushin fighters even if some other styles have it even worse

  • q buenos combates

  • asså fyfan va dåliga :( sverige komien nu!

  • if that capoeirista would have caught that guy with his compaso at 2:17 it would have been over, even though it was a very crappy one... I would like to see someone higher than a yellow cord in a competition like this lol

  • is it me or does it seem like a lot of these guys are sloppy

  • putting a bunch of rules in competition just make it into a kick boxing match u really cant c wat the styles about except 4 kicking n punching

  • looks like there is kicking allowed to the head..but what about punches? anyways this is the first time ive even heard about it..cool stuff!

  • The Kung Fu vs Kickboxing fight gotta be the lamest fight ever, really funny to watch though..

  • just a comment to "Used to be Swedens biggest martial arts tournament(Scandinavia) but no longer since K1 arrived", dont forgett that K-1 is for pro and Allstyle open is an open competition mostly for amatures that wants to try thire skills. Still to day ist one of the biggest with most participator. It cant be compared to k-1. ASO 34, in 2008 hade over 170participator. But i agree for the audience k-1 ist the biggest show to watch. to watch aso is boring if you dont know anyone thats fights..

  • Can anyone identify the song that starts at 3:01?

  • Nice fights, everybody did really well. It only goes to show that every martial art can be effective, it always depends on the fighter.

  • I really agree.

  • neat

  • I missed head pounches only.

  • 4:52 Not only Karate. Karate VS. Kung Fu.

And Capoeira was Capoeira VS. Kung Fu too.

  • who is this guy who train capoeira

  • batuque - abada gotheburg. he's great but capoeira wouldnt stand a chance here naturally.

  • Why would Capoeira not stand a chance. If you train Capoeira as a fighter, then you can fight against any body like the great Mestre Bimba did. During his prime he defeated champions of all styles from all over Brazil and all around the world.

  • Yup, I believe that many people underestimate Capoeira because they are misjudging it because they see too much 'dancing'. Do you know why you see so much 'dancing'? The capoeiristas used that same tactic against their slave masters; disguising their practicing as an african dance so that their master would not know that they were teaching each other to rebel.

  • all depends how you define capoeira. regional has taken a lot of influences from other martial arts and sure, if you strip it down to those techniques and other pure fighting related ones capoeira would be quite good. but would it be capoeira then? not to mention that since capoeira put a lot of effort in acrobatics and music as well, and doesn't do a lot of full contact sparring it's not very time efficient if you wanna learn to be a good fighter.

  • Very true, not all Capoeira schools train the same. My school trains very aggressive, and combative style. Mostly because my teacher in Toyko, and I are versed in many different martial arts. So we train for the beauty of Capoeira and for effectiveness in an emergency or competition.

  • Whats your groups name? I really like your training methods, I do this too on free trainings. Do you do sparring on Capoeira trainings? If yoes could you please post some videos about it, and about the competitions you mentioned? I really love if someone wins using Capoeira. You'r group only trains this way in Japan or if not where else?

  • Intresting. I didn't know about Mestre Bimbas fights, but this just enlarged my respect for him and for Capoeira. Unfortunately in europe many people train Capoeira in a too soft way, not like in Brasil.

  • LOL,i did'nt know i was on youtube:P

I'm the Kung fu vs thaiboxer..kungfu would be me...i broke 2 ribs less then 20 seconds into the match and was out of breath for the rest of the first round but i manganged to complete the fight without losing face:D

  • saving face is what its all about champ. and u broke ribs.. or ur ribs were broken??

  • They got broken:)

  • no jodan strikes at all? wtf?

  • Yeah, I believe it's based off of Kyokushin rules, which is BS in my books. I don't see how a kick to the head is any more legitimate than a punch.

  • interesting concept, I liked it

  • hey andreas...just a little question about that guy we can see fight against you...what style did he train?...looked like somekind of erm...i dont know..."monkeystyle"...anyway...good fight ...and it looked like you took it easy in the beginning..but totoly ran him over at the end;)....

ps. i saw this fight live:)

  • taekwon-do but i cant told you the federation because i cant see his dobok

  • Funny to see that many here like my fighting style. My name is Andreas Almen and i'm the Karate fighter (kyokushinkai) whit the yellow belt the short guy, If any wanna come and guest train just come to Lindköping/sweden.

    Kind regards Andreas Almen

  • you are good, but you arent really a yellow belt are u?

  • humm.

  • which MA is the one of the guy who was fighting against the capoeira guy?

  • pretty cool that a guy who practice Capoeira signed up...respect

  • that karate guy was impressive showed smooth transitions to so many different techniques.

  • Viva Capoeira!!!!:DDD Capoeira 4 EVER!!!!

  • I'm new in martial Arts... But sure can tell some of them got pretty owesome moves..

Especially the taekwondo guy... His kick is oewsome..

  • that one guy doing all those monkey moves sucks.

  • Good video

  • can someone pls tell me the name of the song when the karate fight scene starts??

  • Blade Techno Opener.

  • bullshit this karate men was kicking under the waist all the time wich is not totally karate style he must be some kick boxer

  • first of all it is sad that you cant spell in your own language, and second of all ever heared about kyukushin or daido juku karate? and that is only two of the numerous styles of karate that uses the lowkick.

  • wow kyokushin is a best!!!

  • What style is the one who fights the Shootfighting guy? (He in the shorts are the shootfighter, right?)

  • If you read below you will see that no one was the shootfighter.

Back then it was Taekwondo mixed with Kung Fu

  • @jebu23 Yes there was, I was the shootfighter. but as stated below, I only had about 3 months of training.

  • Nice vid: but the guy fighting the karate guy is quite poor

  • capoeira ftw !!

  • No face punches?

  • not in this version, this version was developed because of the boxingbann that was in effect but now days you have the choice if you want to go with boxing gloves to the head or with the grappling gloves to the body

  • the shootfighting guy looks alot like tkd

  • If you mean the guy in white t-shirt and black pants, its me and you are partly right, back then it was mostly tkd but some other arts as well. The person who made the film might have refered to the other fighter but he was wrong there too

  • reminds me of the kumite in bloodsport

  • Do they have anything like that in the US?

  • so where are these ASO tournaments held. what are prereqs to entering

  • the muay thai guys sucked otherwise they would have kicked everybody's ass ;)

  • I see your point (pun intended), my point is that the format of the karate sparring is very compatible to the format that by rules is allowed in ASO. Kung fu, muay thai, shooto and ITF taekwondo uses punches to the face in their respective sparring systems. Karate does not. That means that you could still argue that the karatekas are the ones that have to make the least compromises when adapting to ASO, by not having to modify their means of attack.

  • Are you serious? A series of body blows followed by a kick is dead common in kyokushin, albeit not delivered 100% of the time to the head, it happens often enough to say that knockdown karatekas are among the most favoured by the "no punches to the face" rules, because their own sparring/tournament rules are similar.

  • Well if you look at the rules they are not favored, 1 series of punches often just results in 1-point while a kick to the head or a takedown gives 3 points.

This is something that has been argued about for over a decade in Sweden sometimes its teakwondo, kung fu, karate...

  • 2 points for a takedown, 3 points if you follow it up with a punch

  • the point system is 3 points for a kick in the head 2 points for kick on body, 1 point for punch on body and if you are in a strike dual its the one who takes a step back who dont get that 1 point

  • the only thing thats in favor for the karatekas is that punching on the body and not on the face is allowed, but you dont see much kicks in the head in kyukushin kai

  • In a way, this system favours the knockdown karate style of fighting and sparring with no punches to the face. You can see that the karate fighters are the ones that find their "game" first in these matches. Stil, ASO is/was a good way to give the 'regular joe' the chance to prove his/her skills. Nice to see so many different styles represented too (specially capoeira, never expected those taledowns haha)

  • This video features competeteurs from both categories.

I like the way you spell thailand, anyway thai people fighting in this competition is ok they just have to sign up...

If you want to see fights witch only features world class fighters i have uploaded some fights from mastercup witch is the "dad" to the allstyle open.

  • some of them are amateurs thats right that is why the competition is divided in 2 classes, in the class 1 you have to have won class 2 two times or have won a national competiton for exampel: the swedish/norweigian/finnish ect... championship in your martial art.

  • They should have gotten some Muay Thai practitioners from thialand.. They are amateurs for fuck sake..

  • they should have gotten some guys from grupo muzenza capoeira

  • This shit is way better than K-1. Well i just saw it and i like it more than K-1. I like the fact they don't surround you with a ring.

  • no punch in the face ?

  • no it was not allowed at the time, the rules are very much like the ones you have in kyukushin karate.

But now you have the option if you want to go with punches to the head with boxing gloves or with the thin grappling gloves for fullcontact on the body
