  • Bloody Bill reflected the atrocities that been perpetrated upon Missouri back on the thugs that refused to allow Missouri to secede as its legislature had chosen. Lincoln could not afford to allow Missouri to join the south, as it would have tipped the balance in the US Senate. As a result, the citizens of MO were terrorized by their own government in an effort to intimidate and drive out those that supported states' rights. Criticism of MO bushwhacker tactics is ridiculous - it was war.

  • Taint no murderers in heaven. Reckons they's ALL in hell, sure 'nough.

  • but the Civil War was horrible like, and im pretty that there were union atrocities than confederate ones.

  • Bloody Bill may be a hero to some, but he also committed atrocities against and unarmed soldiers.

  • ??? many comments on here are pretty dumb!!!

the sad truth was, these Bushwackers were exteremly damaged ppl, lived through terrible times, and did and saw much like it also.... there was nothing romanitc (like in the movies) about it..... they were men doomed from birth to live a short and tragic life... and all these "god bless him" comments.... if the bible is true (which i doubt) then he would sadly be burning in hell. Silverfoxxee is right... they were created to be terrible men

  • I'm more of a Quantrill man. Anderson & Todd were too reckless with the lives of their men, as they proved at Fayette in 1864. Only Quantrill's company refrained from that stupid attack. I'm not doubting any of them's courage, but in a guerilla war, courage is not enough, Intelligence is needed too, & that Col. Quantrill had in abundance. Sam Hildebrand was another great Missouri guerilla warrior.

  • God bless the man Bill Anderson.

  • The Sad truth about the man and others like him, Is that they said they where protecting what was theres, and only killing yankees, well yankees to them where Non-military usely unarmed civilans, don't let the movie ride with the devil fool you, they would murder women and childern just as soon as men and young men. And DID.....And Not only that, They would target Southern civilarns as well as union supporters, which only means one thing, There scumbags. there was nouthing honrable about Bill.

  • Still living in the past, aren't ya?

  • George W. Kirk>William Anderson

God bless the Union now and forever.

  • @StrengthinGod Fucking yankee get off of this video.Nobody here gives a damn about you and your Union.

  • @StrengthinGod yes, the precious illuminati union.......south will rise again!

  • @UFOsaucer1 us scots thought that too, bill done well tho

  • placing flowers on bills grave

  • Good comments about Bloody Bill, especially about the genie out of the bottle. There was one man bloodier: Jack Hinson. If you haven't read the story of this Tennessean's one-man war against the yankees, please look him up. It was another case of war bringing the genie out of the bottle.

  • Hey Y'all. I am an East Tennessee native now livin' in The Ozark Mountains of Missouri. I am a re-enactor with Quantrill's Raiders. Love this video. It's too bad our schools in the US do not teach the fact that Missouri seceded from the Union but they'd rather not teach the war as it was. Deo Vindice!

  • @appalachiangrayback

amen sir...the truth well said! i lived in east tennessee also...back in missouri now...we are the 12th star...remember that

  • For the true story of Bloody Bill Anderson, read it in his own words as told to Henry C. Fuller in 1924: bloodybillanderson.webs.com

  • Bill Anderson was a Southern hero whose "crimes" were in response to those of the Kansas redlegs. See the opening scenes of Eastwood's "Outlaw Josie Wales".

  • Bill go with them your an American Hero

  • Praise God for Southern men like Bill Anderson. His remains fill an honored grave!

  • amen to that brother ... amen to that .

  • i am related to bloody bill anderson some how i forgot how tho

  • Same here. Great Great Great Grandfather.

  • if every confederate soldier was like him and robert e lee the south wudda won

  • Had the yankees held my kin hostage and then murdered them I would have chosen the exact same path. Yes, I live in the heart of where this all took place and have visited Anderson's, Quantrill's, the James', the Younger's, Todd's, Shelby's, Price's, and numerous other grave sites of these sons of Missouri. Funny, here in MO we call it "The Raid on Lawrence" and in KAN they call it "The Lawrence Massacre". Look it up folks, very interesting.

  • @floydfreak63 a great, great uncle of mine rode with Quantrill to Lawrence. I'm very proud of him!

  • I can't imagine living in Missouri at that time, it must have been terrifying.

  • Bill Anderson was a great man and a hero.

  • Well said!

  • ~AncientBloodline~, I totally agree! I think that William Anderson was a hero. He is a legend!

  • Bloody Bill Anderson was the baddest Mo-fo to ever strap on a pair of Colt Navies. It's too bad there weren't many more like him, Quantrill, Todd, Maddox, Clement, etc. during the war. Those boys knew a thing or two about guerilla tactics and they kept a lot of troops busy looking for them. When I get to heaven, I can't wait to shake the man's hand.

  • @michaeleffmeredith Men like that go to hell, my friend. So your going to hell too if you want to shake his hand. I'll be there with you! Deo Vindice!

  • @michaeleffmeredith right on!

  • This Lafayette County, Mo. girl will just keep her opinions to herself...But I just have to know: Is that Gregg Higginbotham portraying Bill Anderson? Always thought Higg was a dead ringer for the man.

  • Outstanding video, I have read numerous diaries written by some of Quantrill's mighty men, and people who knew those boys. I understand now why they did what they did. I will tell you one thing, going into a fight I would want Bill Anderson on my right George Maddox on my left. I sure wouldn't want to be riding up against them.

  • this guy achieved great things .......thats 2 bad about ur great-grandfather, this mans full family & 2 sisters got slaughtered u deaf?......... i think i would have become an insane killer after something like that happening 2 u. ( a lot of people would agree i think )

  • That's a great piece of family history and you must be proud of your gggrandfather, but killing a Captain of the Home Guards in time of war isn't a war crime. What if your ancestor had killed him? No offense pal.

  • God Bless Bill Anderson, and may we see many more in the coming Civil War.

  • The Union aggression made Bill Anderson into what he had become,an avenger. The only stain on Bill's character was the massacre at Centralia. That said,Bill's heroic stand against the Kansas Red Legs is legendary. He was the toughest civil-war guerrilla that ever came out off Missouri.

  • My hero! hehe

  • Love Bloody Bill!

  • KIND OF LIKE THAT Abu Musab al-Zarqawi GUY IN IRAQ... A REAL SELFISH PRIK..A HOMICIDAL MANIAC!

  • Sounds like a bunch of liberal crap victor's history. Bill Anderson seems to only have killed collaborators and soldiers. Did a damn good job too! Brave as hell, cunning as a fox and as cold as Sheffield steel. The worst civilian massacres in history were committed by the "heroes" of the USAF and RAF during WWII.

  • Bill Anderson was a great man who was dead by age 24. I dont blame him for anything.

  • I wish I had seen this video first, but I saw

"The Lawrence Massacre" trailer first, and I wasn't ready for it.
