The advert uses shock, which is a very effective technique to alert people to very real dangers with which they may otherwise not be aware.

I'm also presuming you meant disgusting as digesting is completely irrelevant.

As the other guy said, voice your opinion on things when you are a little more educated about the matter.

My opinion is that it's a really good ad, not many companies have the balls to use shock like this, the other one I remember was a 'Think' advert with a balloon and a drunk.

I see this as Big Pharma getting worried about their multi-billion dollar drug business because of online competition, so they manipulate the masses by associating gross, disgusting imagery with online medicine.

Why the hell would any company put rat poison into a pill? To me this sounds similar to the 'strychnine found in LSD' myth. Pharma companies don't give a shit about your health - all they care about is money, and this is a campaign trying to protect their business, not your health.

If I were to sell fake pills, I'd put sugar into them, not something that poisons the patient, especially not rat poison. And by the way, it could still work by placebo effect.

Well there's a risk without doubt, as with everything that's made for profit - and drugs is certainly big business. People who don't want to take risks should definitely avoid non-legal drugs, agree on that. I just feel that this is a bit overrated propaganda, but well, obviously it's much safer to get a drug legally whenever possible. I don't doubt that.

(I would personally order medicine online that I couldn't get legally, but that's just me, and yeah, I'm risk-taking.)

However, imported generic drugs (from China) could have a different quality and quantity of impurities, that's true. But would you call it 'fake'? Every drug has _some_ impurities, technically there's no way of creating a drug with 100% purity.

id also like to add that i HAVE bought medication online and some of them are real, the taste ,smell and side effects are exactly the same as from my doctor.

I wonder why the regulator of meidicines in the UK, the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agnency), a statutory body, has got together with a drugs company Pfizer to produce an advert that does not inform people how they can protect themselves from fake medicine on the internet. Rather than being alarmist about access to medicince which may be a potential benefit to patients, maybe the MHRA could promote safe sites like mine and keep people safe in that way.
