The best way to threaten Benny is to let them take your weapons. Use a stealth boy to sneak into the office where you trade caps for chips and collect your weapons back. Then you get a new option, where you can tell Benny that you've re-armed yourself with all your heavy weapons.

Option 1 can be done by passing speech checks with the guy at the front door or showing him evidence of what Benny has done. You can then keep your weapons and the others won't be hostile. Option 2 can also be done with a male character if you have the confirmed bachelor perk.

option 1 is survivable if you have a high enough speech (40 to be safe) to convince swank (Benny's second in command and the front desk guy) to let you kill Benny and give you back all of your weapons
