Open Office is compatible with Microsoft Office applications, for all current versions of Linux AND Windows. There are a lot of open Source applications for Windows and Linux that You can download.. and 100% free. You should of downloaded Linux and pick through the 1000's of free cross compatible applications.

Vista X64 with SP2 is much more stable than Windows 7. If you don't believe me then you should check gaming forums, the ones with the problems are mostly Windows 7 users. It's not that Windows 7 is bad, but like any new OS it has it's bugs, just like Snow Leopard has a major bug that destroyes files. No new OS is good, it always needs a few service packs first.
Btw, this video is 2 years old, meaning he used a version of Vista with no updates or servcie packs. Btw, for your information, Windows 7 is not even released and already had multiple updates... go figure.

not me, i had my laptop pre installed with vista and i went so slow because of all the pre-loaded crap on it. so i bought the retail copy, reformat my PC and it was much faster all i had to do was update windows, install and update some drivers with a program called drivermax and never had a big problem for over a year now and my laptop has been at top speed ever since.
The first computer I had was a Mac and that is where I have stayed. I have PCs but I don't use them. I don't need all of the headaches of crashes, viruses, hardware and driver problems etc.,etc., etc., etc.,etc. And Vista. I have heard about that. I really can't afford to buy a new $5000.00 PC because Microsoft decided I should do that. So I compute on my old, used $30.00 eMac with the 800Mhz processor with 1GB RAM instead of sending my money to you know who in Redmond.

Misleading! Your driver manufacturer is responsible for your drivers, not Microsoft ;) The same is for your programs.
UAC is a great idea, but it doesn't have a good implementation... I have to admit that. That is the only complaint I have... after all, Windows Vista is totally great, much more than XP ;)
Advice: Upgrade to Service Pack 1, and stay tune: SP2 will be ready this 2009 ;)
I got the UPGRADE to vista home pro and installed it on my 4 year old rig frakentower had to do a clean install cause i prevously had xp pro instead of home the only thing ive had probs with was the psu and intagrated sound. the sound chip was not compatible and the pus was not powerful enough
I bought my lap top with vista on it. It was annoying at first, but they've worked out a lot of the kinks. It's still not the best with everything, but it's A LOT better.

You got an OEM version, thats why, thats the version, PC companies use to pre-install an OS on a system, so they don't have to go through the activation process, and also, so they can provide to you a re-installation Disc incase you need to of course re-install.

1. I have used this same disc to install wow on a different computer.
2. each time i run it, nothing opens. no install thing. and when i click on my computer i can see that it has read the disc.

i have had vista for over a year now, it came preinstalled on my laptop, a sony AR41L (i think, been a long time since i last thought about what the thing is), and it has never given me a problem, i would never go back to xp, but this is just me, if you lot are getting problems first of all do what "airportchris2" said and then look on the internet. Not glad to not be of much service.

I actually love the user account control because, never before have I considered the web sites that I go to bad, but Every once in a while, something will try to access my computer, and even though i'm not clicking on anything, user account control will ask me if I'm sure that i want to continue.

im with you to man im using my Toshiba laptop with vista premium its ok but sometimes it does piss me of like sorry you dont the permission to do this or you cant delete it because of all this shit i dont care once i couldnt even rename a file that i made i own the computer how can i not have permission do i have to ask ol' bill gates to delete it for me its bullshit. also u can turn of the allow and not allow thing (UAC)user account control

Your problems are easily solveable.
1) Get newer software, to use the Aero Experience.
2) Before you run a program, if it has a shield on the icon, right click and run as administrator, and you should be fine.

for me i got a cracked version and it dint ask for a key or nothing it just installed fast and i got everything and it made a file on my hd called windows old and there where my last files from vista premium.

You got an OEM version, thats why, thats the version, PC companies use to pre-install an OS on a system, so they don't have to go through the activation process, and also, so they can provide to you a re-installation Disc incase you need to of course re-install.

Wrong! I have Vista 64bit edition and have NO PROBLEM AT ALL with anything... No disabling adobe products, or anything... I just bought a copy from MS, installed it and there you go, my little cute Vista... Btw nowadays is 32bit system USELES!!

Agreed 100% with the author!! Recent laptop, clean install and yet, uncompatible drivers/software/issues. Great job MS, I guranteed you a ubuntu install on that laptop will install you all drivers, if not found on CD, will find them on the repository. Windows compatibility? U got wine or virtualization w/ win xp

I got a pc with built in vista, its sunning amazing. I guess installing vista on a used or XP OS is a little bit harder, but u know what, now am saying vista rocks :)

ive got a problem installing wow, after about 5 min of installing wow its pops up with your computer apperars to be behind a firewall, so i turn my firwall of but nothing changes, AND THEN after about 10 mins of installing it says your tracker is not responding or something, im downloading it of blizzard, can some one please help me i just wanna play wow.

The truth of Vista:
I think the original was "Windows Bullhorn" or something with horn in it.
They made a serious mistake 1 year before the initial beta release. Thus, Vista is born, a quick file copy of XP Kernals with a rather attractive UI.
