It was interesting to see Larry Colburn in the clip. He was the door gunner on a chopper piloted by WO Hugh Thompson. Thompson saw the massacre going on from his bird and flew down placing himself between the GIs and the Vietnamese villagers. He started loading villagers into the bird, telling Colburn to open up on the GIs if they came any closer. It was a pretty tense situation. Colburn said he always wondered what would have happened if the GIs had advanced.

It was interesting to see Larry Colburn in the clip. He was the door gunner on a chopper piloted by WO Hugh Thompson. Thompson saw the massacre going on from his bird and flew down placing himself between the GIs and the Vietnamese villagers. He started loading villagers into the bird, telling Colburn to open up on the GIs if they came any closer. It was a pretty tense situation. Colburn said he always wondered what would have happened if the GIs had advanced.

no its actualy not a stupid question, but we have to take under consideration the psycological trauma these soldiers faced during the war. I mean they are over there not knowing who the enemy is. many times vietnamese soldiers will dress in civilian clothes but armed.. Im not by any means condoning these actions.. its horrible what happened.
in this case these US soldiers were told that village was a viet cong village so the US soldiers were angry, thirsty to kill some viet cong soldiers..

One way to for some hard headed people in the US to understand the impact is imagine if vietnamese soldiers came to your town and killed 500 women, children and relatives. You would be pissed. So to say well its just war is not very clear since we have not had war in US soil to see its effects.

i really don't know what's right or wrong in a war situation ,what i do know is that shooting old women/men and children is sad only because a few soldiers were paranoid (understandably you could trust nobody), it's war, you kill or get killed.
but anyone could see a crying child = not to be killed.
read about this in Wiki and the images of the massacre brought tears to my eyes and i'm not even one to cry.

We th world need to ivade USA NOW and start killing those americans in their homes. Here,s the plan-China, Japan, vietnam, Korea should begin a massive invasion sending 500 million soldiers. Ann additional 100 milion soldiers should be sent by the arab states. The assault wil be by sea and air but so scattered that usa will not be able to control the influx.
