She was a real down-to-earth star - and after all her fame as a minor movie star and a major TV star in the 50s, she was still so down-to-earth. And she was really talented, and more importantly, a very nice person. Hollywood should have more stars like Gale Storm.
My favorite was Dark Moon. I was 5 yrs. old remember watching her sing on that ship I'll never forget it. I play the piano and just learned "I Hear You Knockin'" love playing it. When I was a kid I thought she was so beautiful! Thanks for posting.
Gale Storm was so cute. I remember this song; My folks had the record. I remember "Oh Susanna" where she played the ship's entertainment director: "Captain Huxley! Captain Huxley!" in that chirpy voice.
Randy Wood recorded Gale after hearing her on a T.V. show. He had no idea "My Little Margie" could sing and she had no thought of a recording career. This hit smash is Gale channeling Mae West! Not sure many people got that but they sure liked the record. But she never did another like it. Wood liked to keep her moving, so she never repeated herself or did the expected. He found she literally could sing anything and sing it better!
Underappreciated super star. Had 2 TV program for 10 years. Only Carol Burnett and Lucy had longer runs . Triple recepiant on the Hollywood Stars walkathon. Radio , TV , Singing
She was my favorite female singer of the early Rock days. This was my favorite record of hers. I know Smiley Lewis came up with the piano riffs but this version has a higher fidelity. She was great.
RIP Gale....Thankyou for the memories and the beautiful music..We are loosing the great talents of the world!! Who will or who can fill there shoes? No one can!!
I had such a crush on Gale when I was a kid and watched everything I could find her in. Luckily for me and her other fans... that was a lot. She was beautiful, talented and a classy lady who's name and career will be remembered. RIP, my little Margie. The world is a lesser pace without you.
She may have but the original was done by Peggy Lee. The next most famous version was probably the one by Edie Adams used in the Muriel Cigar commercials.
Hmm, I was only about 6 or 7, but I seem to remember Fever being on the flip side of I Hear You Knocking. Don't remember seeing any Peggy Lee records & we kids would listen to both sides just because we were curious. I liked the song. Since it must have been there, that's the one I know I'd prefer (that's how people are, lol). Anyhoo, thanks for posting!
Great version!

@TheJerrycitot Last week I saw It Happened On 5th Avenue. It is a romantic comedy and Gale had the female lead. She was great!

It Happened On 5th Avenue is a great movie. I have seen it before but didn't realize Gail Storm played the girl in it.

@HoboGus Yes, she must have still been in her teens. It took me a few minutes to recognize her because she still had some baby fat in her face.

@gclongw1 Wonder how many of us were named for her? Same spelling too. In my case, it was my mother that picked the name.

By: Hollywood Outbreak on: Jun 28,2009 In: BREAKING NEWS, NEWS OF THE DAY
This just inshe was a 50s favorite:
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Gale Storm , whose wholesome appearance and perky personality made her one of early televisions biggest stars, has died at age 87.
The actress died Saturday at a convalescent hospital in Danville, said her son, Peter Bonnell. He says she died of natural causes.

I remember this song from my mom's 45 collection so well. Didn't she do "Fever" also?
I think I'm the one responsible for wearing these two records out from all the ones we had (mostly Tennessee Ernie and the Blackwood Brothers).

Vicki I have never heard a song by Gale Storm that I don't like as well or better than the original. I will see if I can find Fever.

OK, but remember I was only about 6. It's entirely possible I'm just not remembering correctly, so don't knock yourself out!

@John1948Five Hope you heard 'Lilttle' willie Johns "Fever". For me that's the one!

@VickiOsb The flip side of Gale Storms recording of "I Hear You Knocking" was "Never Leave Me" Recorded on Dot Records in 1955.
