  • yes that is true as steelband was invented in Trindad & Tobago.

  • I want to learn to play!!

  • awsome!!

  • At 0:40 you can see the name of the band. The BP Renegades. These people can make some beautiful music out of old oil drums. It just shows you, if you want to, you can make something beautiful out of just about anything.

  • Alar travel / Its very nice

  • his nice but very nice

  • Ok. I understand it is a 2 minute video and so has to be focused. But National Geographic seems to have ignored that people all over the world now play the instrument.

  • @lizmannette well T&T was where it was invented so I guess it's more the history of the instrument

  • It's all about playing by ear.

  • i wish i could try playing that!

  • 0:01

  • to hell with regual drums, i need to find one! and play it

  • Beautiful music, beautiful people.

  • yup Large up trinidad!! Trini to d bone ya!

  • BIG UP TO MY HOME COUNTRY OF T&T, I KNOW HONEY BOY HE LIVIN RITE DOWN D ROAD!

  • i would suck at playing that -.-

  • @yvoe9 you are not alone...me too!!!

  • thats some nice drumms nigga

  • i play the steel drums

  • damn why didnt they show the capital or some places that look good so these assholes wont say its poor..trinidad and tobago is NOT poor country, its actually one of or the richest country in the caribbean and in the top 50 worlds richest countries..so, ignorant people, dont bash my country

  • Thats one hard instrument to tune..

  • @TFv052 Really agree.

  • i heard that for the first time in tom&jerry at the end of the 90's :)

  • @msmindspeak Fuckin idiot

  • Hmm a new metroid game...

  • I love this kind of music.

  • i lold

  • this is so awesome.

  • I guess it is another way for the poor countries to make best of the fact that west is taking advantage of their natural resources.

  • @zephyrsimon Trinidad & Tobago is not one of the 'poor countries' as u say. what they showed you in this clip were just small villages and markets.

Trinidad & Tobago is listed within the Top 50 of the richest countries in the world, being #42 according the to CIA, and #33 according to the World Bank and ranked higher than countries like Saudi Arabia, China, Argentina, and the Russian Federation.

  • @dramalilplayer wrong

  • @dramalilplayer listed higher than china? and Russia? sorry but China is number two with 4.33 trillion for a gdp. and russia 1.68 trillion. trinidad and tobago are not even close. I don't care for the other countries

  • @lilevy2790 japan actually just surpassed china in wealth

  • @dramalilplayer Well, there is a difference between the wealth produced in a country and the quality of live of its citizens, maybe you should check the Human Development Index or Gini coefficient. Yeah, I have heard too that T&T`s economy has grown and kept high and the last years, but it is mainly in natural resources extraction and that doesn't usually brings many jobs or development to a country.

  • @mlovecraftr Well said by @dramalilplayer. As one who's lived here over 10 years, I can vouch that statistics can be misleading. Only the small minority of "wealthy" people here, or the expats who "live wealthy" see this wealth. The rest of us catch our tails to make ends meet! Anything imported costs us almost 3 times what it's worth. And don't get me started on the state of healthcare, infrastructure, education, etc.

  • What an awesome instrument.

  • T&T LARGEST LARGE

  • Nice.

  • How does it make those sounds? I still don't get it, even after watching many steel drum videos...

  • @UltimateGrobanite ...i think its called.... physics? theres probably a reason. but simply. it just does

  • @UltimateGrobanite Shaped and tempered correctly, it is an unamplified sound that rings out. Pannists tap the notes with rubber-ended mallets.

  • this guy who make this he is one in 1000000 , he should get more money that he get now

  • TRINIDAD REPRESENT BABY!!!!!!!

  • it aint just trini, its everywhere in the caribbean.
