  • *he only has a few folds of skin in his face and I believe that it is wrong to breed pugs knowing that they will not be able to breathe.

  • I have a pug and he is perfectly healthy and he also has such a lovely temperament/personally, I couldn't imagine life without him. However, he on

  • People need to stop playing Creator and forcing deformed incest dogs on purpose. This is nasty, and it's not fair to the dogs.

  • I thought eugenics said they are breeding best of the best? umnn maybe they are breeding the best of the worst. I also don't see the point why people need to pay over a thousand of dollars just to buy dogs w/ akc standard.

  • People have just as many problems

  • I thought they would make noises having trouble breathing

  • Pugs have always reminded me of those annoying screaming aliens in Half-life...

  • Hilter felt this way with humans.

  • @BrooklynBornNbred1 guess it was a good thing he didn't win then, right? Imagine what people would look like a century from now if he had his way.

  • his beautiful unfortunately this is the breed it was always an "inbred" animal ashame about genetics but with every breed there is a chance of genetic problems....

  • AWW george is such a cute pug I feel so bad for them because they have breathing problems :( They're so cute they don't deserve any discomfort.

  • @pamlovsy2j he is ok,he will be 8 in may, still going strong and still a wonderfull beautiful barve boy,he has a new friend now,a 15 month newfie called stanley x

  • genetic diseases and malformities and nasty "breeders" that only care about making a buck. But there are GOOD breeders that work hard to breed only the best of temperaments health and standard. Those are the breeders you should seek out before buying a pup.

Me personally wouldnt want to live in a world without pugs cavalier bulldogs or pekingese.

  • FoundOnly you just hate all dog breed dont you? I saw your post about Cavaliers and I see you are also picking out Basset Hounds Rodeigan Ridgebacks Pekingese Bulldogs and Pugs! If you hate man made breeds avoid them. Every dog was created for a purpose and EVERY breed has genetic deformities and diseases. The bad breeders are the people that pass it along. I agree the AKC UKC should make owners pass health tests but if they did I bet there would be a lot less show dogs. Again EVERY breed has..

  • @KatCountry1033Girl

You'll actually find a lot less problems when you look at working dog lines. Show dogs aren't bred to do their original jobs, they only care about what they look like. Working dogs have to be healthy to work, their value is based on their ability to do so. There -are- dog breeds without common genetic problems. Take greyhounds, they're almost primarily bred to race, unhealthy dogs can't win so they breed healthy dogs. Foundonly pointed out breeds most affected by show rings.

  • Poor thing =(

  • Ha. I said i was getting a Pug soon. got it. From champion lines.. Dad won BOB this year. Guess what? Has seizures/fits screams/pees/fits some nights. Already fished out £500+ on tests and ops. Jeez.

  • my pug, Puggy had a operation to not breed, so she isn't gonna have babies :D

  • I feel so sorry for pugs. =(

  • I have a pug with 1 eye but now she like a regular pug now

  • I have a pug she had a problem and now she has only 1 eye

  • poor little thing...

  • people should seriously try to breed out the flat faces pugs have to help with breathing,no offence pug lovers but a pug is more like prey than predator(what the hell have they done to it!)

  • My shih tzu has a twisty tail..flat face..any problems in 7 years? no. Im getting a pug soon...

  • I have the most extraordinary male stud pug...he needs to get over there in the UK to bang some bitches to show how to do pugs right!

  • They don't need to stop breeding pugs, but just stop making them have such deformed flat muzzles. Anyone who would intentionallly breed a dog knowing it will have such health complications is cruel. :( Its like breeding those "twisty" cats.

  • The original purpose of dog shows was to preserve type. Why is it that virtually none of these show dogs looks like the original type or even acts like those original dogs? In my own breed, the show variety is nothing like the dogs that actually do the work in terms of type and behavior, especially the show variety as bred to the KC/FCI standard. That dog has too much bone and is too short legs to be a good water dog or a good bird dog or any use to the dog sports.

  • breeders and owners of any of these poor dogs in this programme will obviously say its rubbish as people are finally seeing them for the greedy selfish bastards they are or vain and clueless in buying one and perpetuating these problems, it is sick and I'm disgusted because breeders of these breeds should be jailed

  • Health comes from an immune system that isn't harmed by vaccines and real human-grade food. The sponsors of this show didn't mention that part, though.

  • i have a pug and he has NO problems at all

  • Comment removed

  • @tross2554 actually you can tell by looking at this pug and feeling his body that his spine is a mess as you can see it and feel it,when he lies down as well he looks hump backed, you are very lucky not to have had any problems with your pugs,my pug died age 4 with suspected gme a version of pde, this is also a pug problem(cant quote other breeds)

  • Maybe I'm off-base here, but it seems to me the problem defined here has less to do with in-breeding and more to do with engineering unhealthy attributes. Whether one's dogs are happy or not is not the point. Rather, it is about human vanity over-engineering a breed for aesthetic reasons. Just something to consider.

  • You trying to say that you inbreed your dogs? Just a question.

  • I don't breed dogs; where did you get this idea from?

  • we have 5 pugs...all of which are healthy, happy, breathe freely, dont have curvature of the spine, and live utterly normal lives. don't let the rantings and sensationalism of this program's makers convince you that pugs are plagued with ill health, disease and inbred pedigrees. our pugs pedigrees' alone represent breeding from england, spain, poland, america, and australia.

  • This is very sad indeed. What do you do when you need a pug?

  • Nobody NEEDS a pug. They're so badly overbred, I would never consider getting one...

  • Surely the rescue shelters should have some adult pugs that were abandoned by owners who got them as puppies but decided to ditch them because of their "expired cuteness".

  • Yes, yes. We all know this. All dogs are inbred. That's the definition of the dog. What IS this with the BBC. When we have problems like this in a breed, it's time to get outside of England, your tiny island population of dogs, and get in fresh blood. What is the problem with the BBC? What is the problem with the English?

  • Sick breeders, foundonly, just like all the others in your video's.

They all should be in jail for animal abuse.

They are all sick moneygrabber idiots.
