Constantine is blessed, or "cursed," depending on how you look at it, with supernatural powers to see demons and angels among us. It drove him insane as a teenager and he committed suicide, and in most Christian sects, people who commit suicide cannot go to Heaven because it is a mortal sin. So rather than go to purgatory, Constantine agrees to be a bounty hunter for God and banish demons back to hell who violate the Balance in the hopes he can earn his way into Heaven.

I usually hate religous films simply because they screw with what is already established too much and make it way too hollywood or just glamorized horror. But this is one film I actually enjoyed despite it messing with religon. Papa midnight's actor did extremely well(as always) and despite what people say about Keanu Reeves he is a good actor. Watch it! It's scary but good!

Can't really bring myself to like this movie... or tolerate it for that matter. It's mostly because I've read a lot of Hellblazer, but also because the mythos doesn't really make sense, particularly if you take into account Catholic mythology.

And for the record, Constantine's name is pronounced so it rhymes with Clementine. That's the easiest thing to get right. How do you screw that up?
