He jokes about being Latinos and is representing Latinos instead of just being a host (who happens to be Latino)--so my response is well deserved and should not be called racist! It is so very appropriate
Not a racist--maybe a culturist! there is a difference. I guess Latinos "call it Sunday Night"--his comments not mine! He is not only hosting a late night show--he is promoting Latinos as well--so I respond to his comments and failure to discuss the movie as was intended for Vanderbeek's invitation. people need to get off this "racism" labelling shit
Formosa Foundation is promoting the movie which demonstrated they invested a lot of money in this film. Formosa Foundation is Chen Shui-Bian's pet organization. Chen scamed money from poor Taiwanese farmers and accepted bribe from rich business men.
It's very possible that James van der beek is spending Chen's dirty money now. Since James spend money watching a Cardinal's game. Local people over there in Saint Louis is receiving dirty pay check.
How is my comment racist??? I only said he was mexican centric! I did not say he was a dumb mexican! Note difference. It is pretty common sense that if you are going to bring an actor to interview and mention his or her new movie, you would actually discuss and get into the details and story line of the movie! you are right on one point that his mex descent has nothing to do with his abilities as a talk show host, but he sure relies on that in his monologue and traits of the show so why not
Pathetic George Lopez--his mexican centric and ignorance showed through. Not one discussion about the movie and clip of Formosa Betrayed! This would never have happened in Letterman, Leno, Kimmel, or Conan. Discussed nonsense other than the movie itself! Didnt even discuss what the movie was about.!!
@kjcdpm racist much? Him being of Mexican descent has nothing to do with his late night talk show abilities so kudos to a valid argument. He's new, cut him a break. He's obviously made millions via movies, comedy, and television. Takes a smart person to do that
@doughvato04 On a certain level you are right that his descent has nothing to do with his late night talk show abilities. Is he funny --Ok I guess. Then again his ethnicity did play a role in him having a niche. He gets a talk show--him being new is no excuse! When Conan and Kimmel were new, they also invited actors who just had a new movie released--That movie was discussed. This was also a chance for him to discuss the movie and maybe he and his audience can learn something
Respond to this video... Chance to learn something instead of always clowning around, doing comedy, or just being stupid. A good portion of his audience is Hispanic of Mexican heritage--they can learn something instead of calling every asian "chinese". I tuned into Lopez because I hear Vandrbeek in Formosa betrayed was going to be a guest.. That is why he was invited in the first place-for the movie! I wasnt being racist! I tuned in to him and watched him as a host-not a Hispanic one
@kjcdpm Fair enough, most of his audience is hispanic or mexican. That happens with almost every comic. Their audience is always very similar to their own background. There are many interviews on other shows where the promoted show or movie is barely discussed because the host has so many tangents, like Kimmel and Conan.
@kjcdpm Also please don't think that hispanics are the only people that call every asian person "chinese". Stereotypes are alive because EVERYBODY contributes to them. Tell me you've never seen a hispanic person and thought he's from mexico or called him/her mexican. If you haven't then someone you know without a doubt has. Stereotypes suck, but they are not one race/ethnic groups fault. It's everybody's and everybody should learn to quit.
@doughvato04 HMMM from my experience, it is usually the poor latin countries of mexico and central america those from the african countries and african americans who do that more--and after you correct them, they respond what is the difference. whereas other ethnic groups whether europeans, white america, or those from south america may also make that mistake about calling all asians "chinese", but when you correct them, they understand the differences.
Respond to this video... I know the different background, nationalities & ethnic differences as well of hispanics and latinos, Yes I have assumed a darker skin spanish speaking hispanic as mexican--yet I have never himi out as one until I get my facts. i also know that spanish speech from Argentina and Spain are different. You see, we may assume Mexican, but we also know we may be wrong and know the difference. question is do hispanics know different asian identities?
@kjcdpm Unfortunately not everybody checks their facts and very few people are stupid enough to believe there is no difference in identities. Those people are found across all cultures and nationalities. If you're asking if hispanics know the different asian identities, then absolutely and that is from my experience in the community. The words exist in EVERY dialect of spanish for a person that is korean, chinese, vietnamese, japanese, burmese and so on. Yes hispanics KNOW they are different.
Respond to this video... I'm sorry if you've run into the part of the community that doesn't recognize these differences. Truly a shame for them and they should learn but don't judge the entire community based on a few experiences cause then you're doing the same thing as they are. To assume that ALL hispanics don't know the difference between asian identities is foolish and a very cynical outlook.
@kjcdpm All right, the Mexican part was just prejudice and ignorant. However, I do agree with you on the latter, George should have discussed "Formosa Betrayed" rather than what he had discussed. It has absolutely nothing to do with his race or heritage.
