Some people have no clue how much skill this takes, because it doesnt happen over night to get very flexible. many congrats to Silaeva, Lev, Yerofeyeva and all the other rhythmic gymnasts who take on such a complicated discipline, it's truly amazing.

I saw her LIVE in Hawaii October 2010, she didnt drop her hoop once, it was like being hypnotized, I dont know if I was drawn to the hoops or her amazing butt.

i think it just the cutest how she has to wiggle up the hula hoops so hard to make it go up haha so cute and her manipulation act is different from Elena but still she dose some things Elena Lev didn't do like the ribbon and a couple of things on the hula hoop!!!! I think the ribbon goes very well with this act. It gives a little twist into the act and its very different from Elena's performance becuase of it, which I like. I wonder if Elena gave Masha any tips or whatever.

@9987ifY Exactly. Masha is stepping into a role that was designed around another person's strengths. Elena controlled the stage and filled the room with her presence. Masha lights up the room. I think if the music was a little bit lighter the performance would come off better.

@msilaeva You are not replacing Elena Lev, you are definitly improving the act with your own personality and heart. There is no way we should compare those two different acts. In yours there is a ribbon beginning and the only thing which stayed the same between both of them is the music, and that's a great thing because it is one of the deepest I've ever heard on a circus act. This act is yours and no one else's one. ;)

She is DEFINITELY NOT as fluid from one move to the next like Elena Lev was. It's not comparable at all. Plus, that ribbon thing is... I can't even find the word for it. While she DOES do flexible things while doing the whole ribbon thing, I mean COME ON the ribbon is NOT Cirque du Soleil standards at all.

Okay SmartyPants, if a simple hula hoop can get into Cirque du Soleil, than of course a ribbon can get in too! Plus, if Masha was bad, than the creative team wouldn't have brought her to Montreal to compete hundreds of other athletes, fighting for a contract in the first place. I mean, she's one of only few on earth who can do this. It's whether give Elena a break and welcome Masha, or no hula hoop/manipulation.

Elena had a grace and confidence which i feel, is not so obvious here. Masha/Maria's performance is splendid, true, but the whole blue setting, costume and the hoop act of the original manipulation act by Elena was unforgettable. Thats why, Masha gets shadowed.

I prefer Masha's to Elena's act. The Hulla Hoops act is too old, and a lot of circuses do it today... But I must agree with you about the colour, when she is in white and with the red ribbon the act becomes prettier.

you have to consider that it is not the entire act but just a part of it, she appeared on french television to encourage people to come and see the show but kept the best part for live. the entire act is simply amazing especially the last figure that she does not perform here! It is worth elena's routine ... I can't say one is better than the other, it is about taste

one thing i don't like about maria is that she seems only flexible is her right leg. her left leg is not used. elena, on the other hand, is equally flexible on both legs, which maria is not, by seeing her in this clip and perform.
