  • I love it.

  • One of my favorites...

  • this song sounds like sex feels

  • Probably the best song after Where Is My Mind

  • This song makes me want to break into a house while wearing full black.. Don't ask why.

  • JOY DIVISION - LEADERS OF MEN definitley ifluenced this great song by the pixies

  • For some reason Bossanova - despite its shortcomings and lack of the character that makes the pixies the pixies - is EASILY my FAVORITE pixies album! Kick ass! every song.

  • Best Pixies song, possibly?

  • I miss Sebastian

  • does anyone know of a better song than this?

  • @fatfrankblack my favorite by them is "allison". i couldn't begin to tell you why tho, i just love it. also i really "like the navajo know" alot cause it has a kind of ska-esque sound, and i like ska. also try "the thing" which is the very selfsame as this song, exept it's only 1:59. has a slightly different feel to it. i love them both. hope ya read this and enjoy more pixies. give the violent femmes a shot if you like this, try "good feeling".

  • This guys username is pinkf(i)oyd

  • @Halofreak555 so

  • I WANT YOUR USERNAME.

  • I suck the Pixies' dixies.

  • what the fuck is terminator doing back there

  • there is literally not one pixies song i dislike

  • so ff=..nice santiago adn kim deal did good job

  • God, the title of this song with the "by some Goodman whose name was Bill" is just so clever. I'm such a sucker for those little details.

  • I envy your username SO much

  • Ladies and gentlemen, with you: Pixies.

  • Do I hear a little Kraftwerk influence in there? Great song!

  • this music is 4:20 long

  • they got a ranch they call....NUMBER 51

  • Nirvana and Radiohead told me to listen to the Pixies... ive been listening to them all day, and this is the first song that has grabbed me...... so far :)

  • Well if you don't want to write a haiku you can find some other reason to fuck off. it's all the same to me.

  • Their own genre is what they have.

  • @Teamplayerify i thought it was grunge

  • The outro to this tune is one of the best things i've heard in alt-rock music & prob all rock music i've heard

  • Love it

  • my favourite

  • my ears just friggin bled for 4 min and 20 seconds..thx pixies..you guys really blow

  • @jowo13

we the pixies fans will find you and rape you with an angry bobcat. never ever say anything bad about the pixies again or we will upgrade to raping you with a panther..........:):):)

  • @bleedspeed1 lol..so far i only like their one tune...where is my mind..i heard it on fight club and loved it instantly..but i havent found another i like yet..what are the 3 biggest songs??help me become a fan

  • @jowo13 refreshing someone with a since of humor who didnt take me seriously. i will admit this song is from my least favorite of their albums. i recommend."hey" and "vamos" and "brick red" however what you really wanna do is just go ahead and get the album "surferosa" if that does not turn you then your one of those that just doesnt get the pixies. they are a band you either love or hate. there is no in between with the pixies. however they are considered to be the band that changed it all.

  • @bleedspeed1 I don't know about the love/hate thing...I didn't like them at first but after repeated listens they grew on me a great deal.

  • @jowo13 Dig for Fire, monkey gone to heaven, alex eiffel to name a few.....

  • @jowo13

Why do you want to be a fan if you don't like any of their songs? Fake ass motherfucker. Go write a haiku

  • @Svitlo37 You make no sense. Your telling me to go write a poem because i only found one song i like from this band?

  • @Svitlo37 because i can think outside the box and search for new music. Im not gung ho on just one or two bands. Whats worse? me commenting on a song i dont like or you feeling like the lone ranger having to defend your band to someone you dont know and have to leave a nasty comment showing your ignorance.? lol you dork

  • People like quirky.

  • alien song

  • Pixies are gods!!!

  • not true. music really did suck ass in the 2000s

  • @mmtna In your opinion, man. I love every era post 60's, and even a little Classical. :)

    <3

  • this is TO U

    karen little R.I.P

  • this is karen little R.I.P

  • I can't believe this music...I can't even believe what I'm listening to, how epic and great it is, and how was I able to miss this song and the Pixies in general until recently...I feel like I've discovered gold....it's gold Jerry, gold!

  • @sammyh1982 you have discovered gold and there is a lot of it. Throw away your commercial radio and search for yourself. Try pandora radio. Listen to what you want and not what they want you to listen to. I have been a Pixies fan since 1988 so I know the deal. "alternative" music was started by the Pixies, but the radio never played them?

  • god this is good

  • not so pretty young things!!!

  • i love kim deals voice!

  • @114184 i love kim deals.

  • I'm an alien whose duty is was to make varied and detailed reports on humanity...I'll just post them here.

  • what i love about the pixies...their music nver gets old! i can listen to an entire album (by them) and not skip a track. out of all the music ive listened to, pixies stand out the most in my head.

  • I heard this first in the movie "The Happening"!!! Oh.. well I didn't! But it's a great song!

  • Comment removed

  • oh jesus love this

    gives me the chills

  • From 2:30 on is an audio orgasm

  • Psicodelic!

  • grandi pixies

  • Thank you Pixes for not only being epic yourselves but giving us greats bands like Nirvana, old Weezer, and Cage The Elephant

  • I wonder which circle of hell 8 liars are headed for?

  • What a cute song about aliens.

    I explode.

  • "..it got too crowded on the road i started driving in the sand"

  • you motherfuckers on youtube really know whats up

  • THIS is music

  • My head was feeling scared but my heart was feeling free.

  • songs like this and velouria are what propelled the pixies WAY beyond the genre of indie rock

  • This song is so AWESOOOOMMMEEE! Thank you Pixies!

  • This song is so AWESOOOOMMMEEE!

  • I once traveled 8 hours in a train and i put this song & I'm Amazed (also by the pixies) on repeat and I didn't get bored. :D i love the little bit at the end. 100% awesomeness.

  • This was so refreshing in the late 80s when the air waves were dominated by LA butthole rock.

  • @papercrescentmoon the world is too joined up now - the pixies lived in the gaps

  • always thought pixies is grunge or something... whatever, they are awesome, amen.

  • *** FOR THE IMMEDIATE ATTENTION OF ALL PUNK HISTORIANS ***

No-one cares if punk was actually invented by pianist Bumbike Jefferson in the year 1926, or by the avant-punk group Slags Down A Manhole in the very, very roughest part of New York in the 70s.

So... you can all safely shut up, and nothing will be lost! Good, glad THAT's settled!

BTW just for the record, the first punk group was actually Donald And The Chopped Hags, from the Isle of man. Hope this helps.

  • @mallardvasey you're not giving Bumbike Jefferson ther credit he deserves here.

  • First band I ever got into! Pixies owns!!

  • Love the last part!

  • That 4 semi-dysfunctional, hard time getting along people can produce this kind of badassness......well.....brings a tear to your eye.

  • PINKFLOYD UPLOADED THIS?

  • @flyingfoxhahaha

    That made me lol hard

  • @flyingfoxhahaha yes, it was the real band, they go on youtube and upload pixies songs

  • pixies are not punk as we know it but you can feel punk into them of course they got some influence by ramones husker du....so on

  • Punk was invented by Harry the Hipster in 1944, by Little Richard. By MC5 and by The Stooges, in the later 1960s. Alternative as we know it was invented by Blondie, B-52s, Gang of Four, The Clash, Sonic Youth...Sleater-Kinney, Throwing Muses, Suburban Lawns, a lot more, and the Pixies yes are unique and great

  • Always loved Black Francis' vocals in these songs. He CAN sing and he sings very well, but the point of the Pixies musics is - he tries not to.

    - Bill

  • 2:35

    Weeeee!

  • TEMAZO DE MI JUVENTUD!!!! DE LA VIDA!!! :D

  • "The thing" - How the fuck do they manage to make music like this? It is fucking brilliant in every sense. Love them to death.

  • i love this picture of the band. oh yeah, and the song too :)

  • ooooooooooooooooo aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa oooooooooooooooooooooooo aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa oooooooooooooooooooooo aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • my head was feeling scared but my heart was feeling free

  • It's brilliant and it's about UFOs. Which makes it even more brilliant.

  • Its just music... REAL music! who cares this or that?

  • amooo amooo demasiado esta canción, y estoy de acuerdo que skyyyyyyy y hiiiiiiiii suenan increible, the song of my life!!

  • This song is actually incredible, never grown tired of it for years now.

  • @Jooosh93 I totally agree man

  • early grunge

  • bono es un pendejito

  • This song makes me want to cry because of its overwhelmingly beautiful chorus and outro.

  • the monks started punk in the 60s with i hate you

  • @Craigbennett87 ever heard of The Sonics?

  • best band ever ever ever ever

  • the outro is the "B side" The Thing" , and its cool because it fits

  • best song ever

  • Black Francis rocketh!

Anyone notice how he resembles Tenacious D's Kyle Gass....?

Frank Black maybe Jack Black's bro Kyle Gass... in disguise.... whoooooa!

  • The Pixies= unconventional brilliance!

  • 3:08 till the end.

    the best trip.

  • you can talk all day about pioneers and who came first, but when it came to a really seamless blend of poetry and alternative rock and roll, it has to be the pixies at the top of the card

  • I really don't understand why so many of you care what classification/genre this fits in.

Does it have to "fit" anywhere? People do so love a "cage" don't they....? Personally, for my own purposes, it only matters if its innovative, takes some risks, does not care if it fits an- fucking-where, and is brilliant.

    The Pixies do exactly that.

Without any gimmicks, cool costumes, or labels at all......

I think that is simply called "talent".

  • The best outro to a song, ever,

  • @cleverandrew123 agree

  • @cleverandrew123 I thought the best outro to a song was on Alec Eiffel but this could be it.

  • man that chorus is so beautiful...makes me emotional

  • OH I GET IT!!! the song the thing must have turned into this the happening (sorry i've been a little slow recently lol) either ways thanks for the vid i can't get enough of the pixies!!!!!!!

  • well fuck.

  • The Pixies is a band of alternative rock of the 90's

    not PUNK

    God

punk rock is sex pistols, the ramones, television, iggy pop and the stooges,

but the sound its just a litte punk music

    just a little

  • are you crazy?the first album of sex pistols' was in '77, and the first of ramones was in the '76, pixies are not punk, they're in the indie movement, in the eighties

  • Every two-bit nineties and naughties British band from James to Coldplay has tried, and failed, to imitate The Pixies. James's "She's a Star" sounds a bit like this, but no where near as good.

  • What happened to music like this...

  • right? now music is al pop-ish with no feeling, its all vh1 and mtv's fault

  • its not Mtv's fault its hip-hops fault, but a lot of people think that we'r coming out of these last 2 decades of being obssessed with hip-hop and its time for a music revolution, starting in britain..

  • @papercrescentmoon still there just look harder

  • @blackmetalbanana

Show me ONE current band that is as good as the pixies.

  • @papercrescentmoon justin bieber killed it

  • @sisuo2 No, he didn't, throw away pop icons are as old as the music industry.

    Stop being stupid.

  • @papercrescentmoon It certainly wasn't created by musical conservatives.

Oh the GOOD OLD DAYS OF MUSIC.

Yeah. Every generation says that. Fact is, countless excellent bands are created every day, many excellent new bands will be made and their fans will grow up to say that was the apex of music.

    Basically, piss off.

  • @RedcoatMic24 right on bro, so true

  • @RedcoatMic24 idk man lil wayne fucking sucks.....

  • @Binochy77 ok. what about celine dion in the 90s you dipshit. also snoop dog and all that crap.

  • @RedcoatMic24 some generations are wrong though

  • @RedcoatMic24 I don't think anyone likes 80s music.

  • @RedcoatMic24

Not only was your reply unnecessarily rude, (British I presume), but it's also bullshit. Every generation does not say that. I grew up in the 80's and 90's, but I know that the 60's and 70's were better for music. The reason "the good ole days" are referred to so much is not blind nostalgia, it's because music IS degenerating. You only need to listen to it to know that. Your theory of fans constantly making new bands forever, is looking pretty flimsy these days-Look at the charts

  • @RedcoatMic24

.... there is not even ONE BAND in there. It's all little worthless pop idols. The fact is, the industry has totally changed in the past 15 years. It's sad that some of you haven't even noticed it. There are still some good bands out there, but they are few and far between now, and they certainly aren't getting signed anymore. The early 90's does seem to be the last great time for truly creative bands like this.

  • @MrLetsdolunch agreed, the 90's had great music. It was good times man.Hate to say it but alternative is dead now. I think some if not a lot of the problem is that bands have to cater to the masses more as cd sales have plummeted from the interwebz. In the 90's you only really needed talent. Now you HAVE to be on MTV, radio, fb and the likes. I miss the quality...

  • @quantamsolstice

That's exactly what I think too, but I've never met anyone else who agreed. When I think of a lot of those cool 90's bands that didn't make it as huge as Nirvana, The Melvins, Mudhoney, Screaming Trees etc.. they probably still did ok because at least every fan bought a CD which is some money for them. Nowdays everyone just listens to them on YouTube or illegal downloads so little awesome bands get nothing. And even the few people who do it the legal way, they get like 20c :(

  • @quantamsolstice you obviously havent looked hard enough....i listen to all the 90s stuff..but there is a LOT of great alternative stuff out from the last 5-10 years that blows the 90s out of the water

  • RedcoatMic24

Two thumbs up, most annoying statement next to the mix up of ''commercial/mainstream'' comments.

  • @papercrescentmoon

Damn RIGHT! I JUSt discovered this band ! AND WOW!

    ShITt!!!!! DamN!!! JeeeeeeeSus!

  • @raygunspawn

    Shit, damn, RAPTORJESUS!!

  • @papercrescentmoon You got served lol

  • I know. It's so funny how people get agitated about harmless comment/comments made on music.

  • @papercrescentmoon Well, its really annoying when people walk around and believe that shit was better in the past when they should really try to make shit better today, or something.

  • @LamaPaj ....The Pixies are a good band from the past. I don't understand why it's so wrong to think older music is better than some new current music? I'm not a musician making music so how would I make "shit" better today? What do you do to make today's music better?

  • @LamaPaj incredible answer

  • oh chr*st. not an internet argument about who is 'really' 'punk'.

  • Haha when i was 16 and still expierencing good highs i would so space of that last guitar riff damn, hate the voices now though;(

  • best song on bossanova

  • @bogeaqYT yeah...probably

  • sorry, the muse song is called starlight, the lyrics that sound similar are "black holes and revelations"

  • speaking of muse are they anygood i liked that song assasin and that one on metal gear solid 3 was pretty cool

  • muse on mgs3?

  • its at the end credits

  • @theunhappyzombie That's not Muse. It's way to fall by Starsailor

  • ah well from what i heard it sounded sort of similar

  • anyone notice that muse used this melody in "black holes and revelations?" listen to the chorus

  • frank it totally influenced by extraterrestrials

  • Are the aliens here yet?

  • One of the first punk rock bands.... Awsome

  • .....what? punk was started by the ramones in 1974. the pixies started in 1986. and furthermore, they are NOT a punk rock band. if you want to credit them for something apart from being just plain awesome, credit them for practically inventing alternative rock as we know it.

  • I credit them for their song in the best movie ever.

  • @LizzziMerjanen the Stooges and Velvet Underground were punk before the Ramones, in the late 60s, but I've gotten into thsi arguement too many times lol

  • @kelsmart how were the velvet underground punks???

  • lol shows how much you know

they werent sonically punk , not in the traditional sense , but attitude and approach -wise , they were pretty much the first punks. In the 60s everyone was singing about peace and love and they were singing about heroin and S&M.

Oh , and the MC5 aswell. They were punk before the Ramones.

  • what do you mean shows how much you know?? I barely said anything, if attitude and approach qualifies you as a punk and doing something that no one else is doing...is john lee hooker a punk?? Is slave music punk?? Punk is a music genre not an approach. you're not a punk if you just do something no one else is doing. you're talkin shit. you're probably 17.

  • Close.

    I'm 20.

And sorry to break it to you , i know it's the most cliche -sounding statement in the world , but punk is a mentality. It shouldn't be confined exclusively to music. And punk music is not just your classic three-chord bit with some saftey pins. at least, this is my philosophy.

  • you listen to the pixies, that's pretty good. a good start. that does sound like an american cliché. my philosophy is listen to good music.

  • @kelsmart

    Punk is an attitude.

  • @Frankieireland the velvet underground was the first punk band. they were way ahead of their time so just cuz they didnt sound like the punk ur used to hearing doesnt mean theyre not punk. all true punk bands pay homage to tvu

  • @kelsmart Not that my opinon matters but I would say the Buzzcocks where the first punks musicwise but i do agree about the mentality thing.

  • @LizzziMerjanen hahaha - agreed :D

  • @LizzziMerjanen the ramones didn't just "start" punk in 74, they were trying to emulate buzzcocks, sex pistols, whole british scene. pixies are so punk too man, they aren't like crust or anything but their sound and attitude is punk as it gets.

  • @IronGongLove

    sex pistols = 1975

    buzzcocks = 1976

ramones started punk. furthermore, stuff like radio birdman and the stooges prior to ramones were pub rock. I'm not taking sides with the yanks or anything, its just the truth. also i don't see the pixies as having a punk sound or attitude, i would see them as having an alternative rock sound and attitude. they defined the genre man, and it's completely distinct from punk.

  • @LizzziMerjanen

Bit of a simplistic approach there. You are completely dismissing the Aussie punk scene with bands like the saints (arguably one of the first punk bands)

  • @LizzziMerjanen You cant define Punk or say that the ramones were the first. the stooges played a genra called proto punk. The english punk btw is a completely different from the american "punk"

  • @LizzziMerjanen punk predates the ramones with bands like the stooges. but yeah, it definitely took charge mid-70's...

  • @LizzziMerjanen shut up
