  • The headlights look great. Cyborg. Very distinctive.

  • Why dont they just use two round headlights if they want to look different? I think the headlights look dumb...

  • Transformer bike ! xD

  • it looks lke its been wounded and wants revenge !!!!!!!!

  • it looks so good from the front !!

  • Comment removed

  • It Winked @ MEE!!!!

  • This thing looks like a hornet with a monical on, its an amazing bike but the rc8r looks so much sexier.

  • It's gotta be said: CRAP HEADLIGHTS. Why??? BMW do it too often and it looks bad.

  • looks like a transformer

  • It's the bizarro bike!

  • this bike and the aprilia rsv4 are in a class of there own

  • looks like yamaha r6

  • should i get the bmw 1000rr my first bike ?

  • @jdmk20guy Are fucking insane?

Strap a vw beetle engine between your legs, does that sound smart?

a liter bike as your first bike is a bad choice in my opinion. If you want it as your first bike, go ahead. I would suggest you put off until your second or third season though, and buy something like a 400 or 500, standard or sport either way. That would allow you to learn how to ride and become accustomed to the bike. Even then, a 500 could easily last 3 or 4 seasons before you got bored of it

  • @Watsupo I'd say GPZ500s is a good first "Big Bike"...

  • @jdmk20guy Ofcourse Noot :D Not Now :D

  • i sowa guy on the street and bike looks very nice, there is no old square shapes like BMW used to make their machines

  • It looks just like an r6 in the front and rear.

  • it look like a retarted bug

  • Why do German like this kind of asymmetrical design much? I mean, I like this bike, but I just wonder why...K1300R, F800R and all the BMW enduro models have asymmetrical design in their face.

  • @suzukiaddress125 I don't know why but I hate it, I don't like that design at all and have you seen

the new BMW 6 series, it has done a little draw back for me, it use to look different and I resembled it to a shark but now it's like japs had their hands to design that BMW

  • Can u believe that the german is taking over the freaking world lool

    - Fastest production car is german...

    - The pope is german

    - The fastest 1000cc SS bike is this 200bhp demon...

Damn u germans for making the best engineering!! XDD

  • @jhb972 Fastest Production car isn't german

"Recently" the fastest bike turns out to be a German after all those years...give the Japs some time and they will do it again :)

  • @2JZGTTTE

Foer the record, the fastest production car us the Bugatti Veyron SS (owned by VW which is german...). So technically the fatsest production car is in fact german mate.. get your source right ;).

As for the japanese, I'm sure and I hope they will come up with something crazy as usual lool but until then, germans are the boss! lool

  • ppl just dont get it yet that this bike destroys all other bikes

  • I was able to ride and dyno both the 2011 kawasaki ZX10R and 2010 BMW S1000RR in the same day. I'm my humble opinion and the dynos opinion, the S1000RR absolutely destroys the 2011 ZX10R!!

  • r1 is better

  • i don't like that it has 2 different lights at the front

if the right light would be on the left, too the bike would be perfect

  • I imagine douche bags riding this bike.... seriously....

  • @Kokia08 Clearly you've never ridden the race prepped model from Park Lane BMW... kicks the shit out of everything else on the track and on the road too...

  • put a proper rider on this in sbk it will dominate just like in european superstock!!!

  • BMW = Big Money Wasted!

  • @Spassari Spassari = Spastic Prick And Sucks Shitty Arses Really Ignorant

  • @blindingsun I guess you got a BMW ;)

  • @Spassari yeah and it's better than the 09 R1 i had by a long shot.

  • Awesome Bike, design is something special

  • its very ugly in front but as all the bike is good

  • Jesus Christ, what an ugly nasty bike! Looks like Karl Dall. But Karl has style, attitude, dignity and charisma. Karl is fascinating, this bike is just a piece of shit. So ugly, so manky ... Pefekt bike für loser, wanker, pussies and gays! Long live Karl!

  • that bike is sick

  • This is actually the first time in design history that european designers copied a asian design. Most of the time its the other way around. The influence of the Japanese superbike design is obvious. German precision with a good design...well lets just say :"Japan, watch out"!

  • typical BMW motorbikes this is gonna cost 40000€+

  • Comment removed

  • in Eu this bike cost ab 17000€

  • @228Ghost228 cost $19,000 here in America, with all the options on it- in the racing RWB color

  • no this is not the bie of the gods unless you are reffering to the god of shit because this is a piece of exactly that.

  • that is a beast..............

  • This is the bike of the "gods"

  • @MrCoocko no,it's just from germany ;)

  • Those headlights are the "trademark" of BMW motorbikes to differentiate them from the dominating japanese superbikes. When you drive along with your car and see that bike in your mirror then you won't think "Ouh. An other japanese sportbike." You'll immediately see: "Ouh it's a BMW!" And then you'll see is from behind.^^

  • With a bike like this people only will see you from the back

and the rear is just amazing

  • technical advantages OVER design... this bike still pwns any bike (stock of course)

  • Each item is designed for function not looks, it's not wonder it looks odd, but hey, you can't dispute the function, this thing is a weapon to ride.

  • This dissymmetrical bike is so manky and minging. Looks like shit!

  • Ugly headlights. It's like BMW took the design idea from Bimota and Kawasaki and decided to fuse them together. Idiots. Now the bike looks like a retarded android with a birth defect.

  • It looks like a retarded alien....

  • I love everything about this bike!

  • haha the front end of the bike reminds me of milo from the oblongs

  • Die S 1000 RR erinnert mich immer an das Gesicht von Karl Dall ...

Ich hab selten so ein häßliches Motorrad gesehen!

  • Comment removed

  • Ducati = cheat

  • Looks like an R6.

  • i can't see what's NOT to love about the s1000rr's asymmetrical headlights...looks like an evil wink ;]

  • ugly shit

  • don't like the asymmetric lights. looks like it was punched in the face or something. but the bike is great.

  • gay

  • great Bike, the Best for this Year for sure...

  • i dont like the headlight

  • wats wit all the hate???? i think its a gr8 bike...i luv the asymmetrical headlight its good to see someone is thinking outside the box..... good on ya bmw..... :)

  • @hvkv0000

    Headlights are awesome :D..

  • nice bike, head lights gotta go, atleast that ugly circle one, make the same one on the other side

  • For everyone that complains about this bike's looks, remember that it does come in different colors. Also, the they did the asymmetrical headlight arrangement to differentiate it from all the others.

Most importantly, BMW, on its first try, has produced a motorcycle that is KICKING THE BUTTS of all the other 1000cc inline-4 sportbikes out there (and all the Italian 1200cc twins as well).

So if you say something like "stick to making cars," you're loudly trumpeting your ignorance.

  • it's cute... just like a kick in the nuts...

omfg... bmw... MAKE CARS.. NOT MOTORCYLCES!

  • @Fantasiias It is the best bike out there...stupid fuck.

  • @Fantasiias BMW's been making motorcycles long before cars

  • WTF... ugly as hell.

i think BMW needs to stick with manufacturing cars, NOT BUGS THAT PRETEND TO LOOK LIKE MOTORCYCLES.

  • orrenda....fate fare a noi italiani che forse e'meglio.....

  • ugly!!!

  • what were they thinking when they made those ugly headlights on that beautiful bike

  • nice bike

  • Very very nice bike! I will still stick with my CBR though. Sorry. :-)

  • the bmw nice horsepower, but it feels heavier than specified.. the 08-10 cbr1000rr is light like a 600cc bike.

  • 193bhp wholy fuckkk

  • @DigitaLCha0s1

In benches it shows over 200Bhp, germans and japs are very careful when displaying the number of horses.

  • Lookie there. The squids are going APESHIT over a bike like this, because its better and it doesn't have Suzuki or Honda or Yamaha on it. :))

  • no lokito el yamaha r1 esta mejor!!!!!!!!!!!bye byeeeeeeeeeeee

  • HONDA CBR1000RR.

  • is the CBR 1000RR 4cylinders?

  • yep

    its inline 4

  • how many horses does it have?

do they still make the motogp replica repsol's?

  • 193 horses dude

  • @yoGOES hahahahahahaha

  • hahahaha yea im rich ahhahaha go buy a faggio and jus read about specs. hahaha digital chaos what a fuckin joke. go make some money and stop livin on the internet

  • at first i hated the design but loved how advanced the bike was but the more videos i watch and the more pictures i see the bike is growing on me ALOT. the Asymmetrical design is something different and something i have grown to love. its an amazing bike

  • @thatscrazy360 lol same shit for me. First time i saw it i just tought wtf is this rude monster? but after seeing videos and photos... i do really desire one of those beasts!

  • @thatscrazy360 same

  • ill sell my gixxer for this

  • not 1 part on this bike looks anything like a gsxr wtf are you talking about??If anything it looks like a cbr.Seriously bro just go crawl back in your hole.

  • they make a asymmetrical headlight because of the copyright as you can see the design is belong to the yamaha R6

  • @terador2010 well it was that BMW wanted somthing of there own since they have the same engine design as the japanese bikes and the biggest reason is weight the high beam doesnt need to be as big as the lowbeam light so the made it much smaller to shave the extra weight

  • i really wish everybody who bashes this bike continues to ride their gsxrs, their cbr's and their r1's, youll all have a good view of the back of my bmw .

  • yea right lets see that thing try to keep up with the YZF YAMAHA R1 the only thing you'll be seeing is it's dust that it left behind

  • At the 2010 Valencia Masterbike challenge, the Yamaha R1 placed DEAD LAST out of nine bikes. The BMW S1000RR got first - as in #1, as in eight places ahead of the R1.

It was the Yamaha that was choking on everyone else's dust, including especially the BMWs. Watch the video and weep:

    watch?v=nweOUgsoRZs

  • nice and ugly the front is a .... shit the back loocks preaty cool

  • whos responsable for those horrible headlamps???

  • BMW Power ;)

  • bmw sucks at building streetlegal bikes xD

    They are so ugly

  • Looks nice, but like they tried too hard.

I feel the same about several bikes, including Aprilia and Kawa (e.g. Versys).

I guess my design ideas are simpler and smoother than most of what's out there today.

I have a 919 and love the old Nortons, etc. I do like thee Yamaha & Honda sport bikes, though. Esp. the CBR1000RR and the R6s.

  • doesnt everyone wanna try hard and be the best?

  • So sexy! :O

  • eh not a fan. Its like the cowling designers couldent keep a constant thought on how the plastic should look so they kept changing.

But i do like the tail section and the tail light.

the wheels and of course any stock engine that makes 180+ hp stock, gotta like that.

  • hmmm intersting the headlight is alright i like it but the tail is ??? i would say this bike is ok they still have to work more on the bodykit its the first time i see it and i would realy like to ride it and see if bmw tec makes a difernt making sport bikes and for the people who say ugly ugly headlights headlights i say stop waisting space and fu** off go see a carton or somthing

  • First, the asymmetrical aesthetic with respect to the cowling design is super high-class. Secondly, the suggestion that something like the inertial impact of the design of a component like the headlights would be significant or even noticeable, or represents an executive decision favoring styling over performance-is really silly. Raptorman must be American, because they'll always initially air on the side of anti-intellectualism or pro-utilitarianism, no matter the cost or how stupid.

  • umm wtf, Why wouldn't they makes the lights symetrical? You'd think that with a high performance bike, the balance point would preferably be dead centre, not slightly off due to something stupid as different headlights

  • @13raptorman22 i disagree.

i ride suzuki man, but you gotta realize anything that bmw does is bomb. MCN said it was the best literbike, surely not for the price, but its tight man

  • no bikes are symmetrical. chain is off to the side, exhaust is off to the side, etc. they all weigh more than the difference between the two headlights.

  • @13raptorman22 You're an idiot lol. You obviously dont own or know anything about bikes.

  • @13raptorman22 If that's the case, then why do so many superbikes only have 1 exhaust?

  • Little did you know I was bored and decided to see what people would say... and the exhaust is offset the the weight of the chain and sprockets mostly... I do know something about bikes cause I've owned dirtbikes since I was 10 and now have a GSXR. BMW is amazing and I like this bike except for the goofy lookin front and the huge peice on the front left corner.

  • @13raptorman22 You must be REALLY bored.

  • OK Maybe i'm wrong in judging before my European dealer gets one in , so i will retract my previous statement and jut not look at the video of it., and just wait to see it in person . Who knows it might actually make me puke right there on the dealerships floor ,lol . or not . I like BMW so it might make me buy one right on the spot. Oh yeah 190bhp is scary fast !

  • Saw this at NEC show 2009. It is actually insanely awesome looking in real life.

  • Lights are ugly.

  • is a transformer man

  • That thing makes me want to puke ! It's irreparably ugly ! And here i was all excited when i saw the left side. I dare anyone try to pick up a girl riding this ! God it's so gross! What made the designers think this is what the consumer wants ! Every time i look at this makes me unconstitutionally violent ! I guess ill have to get a different liter bike.

  • I just saw it yesterday, and have to say it's better looking when you are standing beside it. The HP2 sport makes it look terrible, but that bike is beautiful, IMHO.

I do like the fit and finish on all BMWs.

  • it looks like every other motorcycle....the headlights are such a small and insignificant amount of area to be concerned about. It looks good, quit bitching everyone, theres more important things than looks, like personality

  • Honda CBR 1000 rr is a nice bike :)

  • like the bodywork

  • Cool bike. the left front looks a little like the Yamaha R6. I think I would prefer the Yamaha R1 but its a nice bike°!

  • Don't like the asymmetrical head lights.

  • @HighCardWins

They couldn't admit they can't design fairings... so they tried to look strange silly so they would get away with it. The bike may be good... but the design is dumb.

Aren't any decent after market fairings out on sale by now?

  • @HighCardWins that's BMW, innovative ;)

  • @ObbiShade No doubt it's cutting edge tech but I think they did that to keep people saying that it looks like a Yamaha R1.

  • @HighCardWins I guess your right, but, i like the headlights :)

  • @ObbiShade If Bumble Bee from Transformers was a sportbike , he would be this one.

Saw a Ducati 1098 a couple of days ago, that's a sexy machine.

  • @HighCardWins

i thought so too... they've grown on me especially in person

  • @HighCardWins Agreed.

  • after a second take, this bike looks disgusting. Guess price aint bad though compared

  • optimus prime?

  • hahaha yes! thats what Ive been saying. The design is too weird for me tho. headlights and taillights and all the crazy out of control design features. not cool

  • Bubble Bee!

  • The KTM isn't German! It's Austrian!!

  • They germans are good engineers. look at their KTM RC8R and all of the nice cars that they make.

  • The front of this bike looks like the product of some German guy who after just injecting himself with steroids, thought he was being original. I can't wait to see some MCN tests of this bike though! Btw, this bike also looks like it lacks any carbon fibre and looks too plastic for the £12,500 price tag of the Sport version!

  • bmw will be offering full carbon fibre kit for it at extra cost.....

  • BMW have done a good job but I would get any of the Ducati superbike range any day over this bike (even the 848), and I hear that the accessories on this bike are going to be very limited. The S1000RR sports version is obviously going to be a better buy if one can afford it but a nearly new Ducati 1198S with traction control is arguably much better and you can never beat Ducati's looks or performance.

  • @gianlucavi That's fine - get the best ducati you can find - you'll still be looking at the wacky tail light of this BMW as it leaves you behind.

  • That's the bullshit answer! First of all if you are saying get the best ducati and see what it can do, I would choose either the 1098R (now 1198R) or the desmosedici which would both leave the BMW in the distance. It is not even up for debate that the 1098R is in a different league altogether. And also remember that everything is relative so the BMW would not levave you behind if someone with limited experience is riding it, as opposed to someone even on a ducati 848 who is at a higher level.

  • Well, It probably comes down to the driver, but the BMW has a better HP to weight ratio and a lower center of gravity. I suppose if the Ducati driver doesn't have a fat head (rare) and the Ducati isn't in need of maintenance (rarer) then he might be able to at least keep up but he spent 60% more for that pleasure alone. $13,800 VS $22,000 for the 1198s version! add another $10,000 for the "R" version. Get a grip rich boy (or better "fantasy" boy)

  • BMW will always be sucking on Ducati's cock!

  • @gianlucavi That's your best reply? You ARE a fantasy boy.

  • you got your facts wrong, because the ducati 1098R has a better HP to weight ratio and the bike has a dry weight that is nearly 20 kg less than the BMW. Ducati mainteance issues were a thing of the past and all the new bikes are very reliable if taken to the garage for their service every 3500 miles. American prices seem expensive too because you can find a new 1198S for the same price as the BMW and even a nearly new ducati 1098R for around 16000 pounds.

  • @gianlucavi

Like I mentioned "60% more for that pleasure alone. $13,800 VS $22,000 for the 1198s version!" That's the S version.

Yes the R is lighter but still has less HP than the S1000.

If you have $40,000 to spend you should get an R. I suspect next sunny day you will still be here arguing the point while I will be driving my BMW in the mountains outside of Seattle.

  • Forget the 1098R, the 1198S is more than good enough and is vey similar to the R. The BMW S1000RR only has 10 bhp more but it weighs 20 kg more and looks are relatively important and nobody can argue that it is better looking than the ducati. If I were you, test ride the 1198S in the next few weeks and then when the BMW comes out test ride that and write back saying how both were. I guarantee you will like the Ducati more! But don't make a decision based on what you see or read. Test ride them!

  • @gianlucavi The 1098 is rated at 170hp and the BMW is 193hp.

Honestly there is more to being fastest than having more HP or HP to weight. We will have to see. The BMW is $13800 in the US - approx 9000 euros.

  • I have been to Seattle twice, really nice place! I love the States!. The BMW is a great bike, it is probably a better choice for you if you are near the mountains and traction control is important if there is a lot of rain, as the rain setting really does help by limiting the power and revs and helps you out with your throttle control. Most of my comments have been biased because I have always loved Ducati, have had two of them and I am Italian. But the BMW is a great bike too, and very fast!

  • A bike is one of the most personal things to a rider and even if you already have a BMW bike and are keen on getting their new superbike, this is still not reason enough to do so. You should test ride all the competition in the litre bike class so that you have no regrets ober which bike you like the most and which bike best suits you. It is not as simple as just saying that you will get the BMW for certain. If you are spending that amount of money, give or take 1000-1500 dollars is not an issue

  • @gianlucavi

Agreed !0% becomes insignificant but at 50% i start considering the number of rainy days seattle has and rethinking my investment.

  • If you want to compare the BMW S1000RR with the Ducati 1198S, because it is already clear that the 1098R is in a different league altogether... you have to realise that it must be in comparison with the S version of the BMW, which with the traction control and ABS and carbon extras amongst other things can actually be more expensive than the ducati 1198S (by around 700-1000 pounds.) The BMW will never beat the Ducati for looks... never! They haven't even won as many championships as Ducati!

  • Compared to its European superbike kin, however, the BMW S1000RR is a relative bargain. Even adding the $1480 ABS and traction control option the BMW still retails for less than the Ducati, and well below the KTM and MV Agusta. • BMW S1000RR -$13800 • Aprilia RSV1000R - $13,999 • Ducati 1198S - $16,495 • Ducati 848 - $13,995 • KTM RC8 - $19,499 • MV Agusta F4 RR 312 - $24,995 • 2010 Ducati 1198R Corse - $40,000 -

But now u want to talk looks

  • I think you are right in some ways about the 1098Rbeing too expensive because as we know, it's not just buying the bike itself that costs money but also adding extras, maintenance costs and of course insurance! However there is some confusion on your part over the price differences between those in Europe and in the States. Also taking into account bargain second hand bikes, it is possible to find an 1198S with low miles for the same price as the BMW or even less. What is the BMW price in the US

  • $13,800.00 USD

  • thts near 200bhp tht gotta be scary

  • i belive in BMW this time

  • Ducati had a Vtwin, yeah, and won superbike, BMW can't never win nothing with a sheet of motorcycle like that.

Ok that is a good for who is not able to ride a very motorcycle..like others bmw.

  • MADE IN CHINA Slave labor bike!!!!!!

  • actually it's made in Germany, Berlin to be precise.

  • sounda and look way way better than DUCATI. DUCATI's V-TWIN sounds like a lawnmower. LOL!

  • This is my next and final bike purchase

  • why is this bike a-symmetrical?

  • I know it's so tough and agressive looking and appears BMW has really stepped up their game, but the front fairing and headlight is something that will require some getting used to. You either like it or you don't...
