the drums in this song are great and so is the break in the middle but jesus christ maynards fuckin obsession with vocal distortion is a fuckin joke. he should cut it out for the sake of their music . a real vocalist doesnt need effects . and for any smug bastard who wants to take me up on that comment should know ive been listening to the band for years and am in a position to direct that judgement

Hahah. No. The singer in my band has 7 years of pro training and he still uses overdrives and the like to boost his screams. Why? Because to get that kind of sound is not possible without intense strain on the throat. It's not like growling or false chord screaming, both of which are healthy. This is straight up ballsy screaming, which will, in fact, kill your throat if you do it 100%. You can't get this kind of sound safely, so it's either sacrifice and use overdrive, or kill your voice.
