  • informative video, thanks! gunna try and make my own arcade!

  • I like both Tops but Jaleco isn't as sturdy as sanwa

EZ FIX: Sanwa bat top and if you get sick of it,easy ball top replacement

  • Very nice mod. I need to figure out how to make a Happ's stick as a 4 way. I love the bracket you made. :)

  • Arcade machines are for losers

  • where can i order that blue joystick??

  • This was a cool vid, but I see in your annotations you've converted to the dark side. Way to go.

  • its funny bcause ur fat... and i preffer the japanese joystick

  • USA USA USA USA is the best

USA is bigger if you know what I mean

  • the baton looked like a smurfs cock.lol : ). i do prefer ball top and convex button layout as i mostly play fighting games. just my preference. nice machine, im, currently in possession of an old electrocoin and am going to make a mame cab. i cant wait to have a great new cab but do you know where i can get artwork printed for cab sides. nice mod job mate

  • BAT Top American style FTW

  • Comment removed

  • I grew up with bat sticks too I prefer those.

  • More clicking means it's more responsive

  • curious why u didnt get a bat topper that sanwa makes is the neck to small for u?

  • Japanese sticks > American sticks.

Why? Simple: shorter throw + lesser resistance to move the darn thing = executing your moves that much faster. Oh, and did I mention that your wrist will thank you?

Take this from someone who's also played on American cabinets, specifically SFA3. Using V-Akuma and the obvious V-ISM combos on an American stick, was.. well... pretty kinda tiring :X

  • @Narmo23 Pretty kinda tiring is incorrect usage. Step your grammar up before stating your opinion bucko.

  • in my country we had both balltop and bartop style joysticks,I like them both

but I want to mod my Mayflash joystick to bartop

    is it easy?

  • lol "tear drop" What heresy putting a Bat Top on a Jap cab! I would definitely recommend putting those lollipops back into the candy cab. If you were any bit serious about playing fighting games you would appreciate a more accurate stick with a shorter throw and less dead space. However I understand that comfort plays a role in the gaming experience, and I accept, not respect, your inferior choice in replacement sticks. You have a beautiful Candy Cabinet, it should stay Japanese. Sanwa FTW!

  • @CrypticChaos333 elitist for the loose =)

  • Ball top is much better

  • Hey how do you take that little c clip thats at the end of the happ stick off. Im in the middle of doing a custom piece to my old pelican and im having probs with it.

  • @bremstone

try using either a butter knife or some needle nose pliers

  • Thanks man, I just figured it out shortly after I posted this. Thanks for the tip man.

  • I don't like what you've done (using Happ sticks).

But I *LOVE* the plate you made to get it to work!

    Good job!

  • thanks. I had some more plates made for some friends of mine who have candy cabs but prefer american style sticks.

  • I too grow up with the ball top, but after playing with the japanese parts, I've converted to it and don't regret it.

  • i have to admit i was wondering how you were going to mount the joystick. using the plexi as a spacer and to give you the proper mounting holes for the HAPP is brilliant.

  • thanks alot for the words

  • I like the intro in your videos. it kicks ass.

  • thanks. I'm glad you liked it

  • @rumbazz

ah gee whiz. does that mean we cant be friends? Wow I guess my whole purpose in life is to make you happy. Do us all a favor little boy. Either grow up or blow your Kuwait ass up.

  • On some websites, you can replace the Sanwa Ball top with American Bat top. You retain the "feel" of the japanese stick but get the bat top.i Just find the American sticks to be clunky and lacking in finesse. That is just my opinion

  • @Tonedef5959 i hat the bat tops they feel weird and i suck with them

  • the only reason i use japanese parts is for 2 reasons. 1 japanese sticks are digital making it more percise for fighter games and 2. japanese buttons are mushier for faster combos.

  • American sticks are digital too.

  • i Detest the bat style sticks!

  • @8BitFox same!!

  • I was once told that Japanese style joysticks have a square bottom and American style have a circular bottom so that stick moves more smoothly. Is this true or was that guy full of shit?

  • gumball joysticks SUCK. i remember they were also installed on double dragon in the US in 1987. once i tried street fighter 2 for the first time in 1991, i loved it. i LOVE the US arcade stick shown at 2:55. moves are easier to pull off and i can grip more of the joystick.

  • Yeah, I just think the japanese gumball sticks suck for fighting games.....at least for me they do. However I dont mind using them for anything else...just not for fighting games

  • I'd probably argue the opposite, ball top is better for fighting games, bat top for other games.

  • Really? Your actually the first person I hear to say that.....not that I have asked to many people. Did you play fighting games in the arcades or just on home consoles?

  • I guess I prefer bat tops for "other" games because of my memories of playing in an arcade as a kid, they had nothing but American parts then.

Since I became serious with Street Fighter in recent times though, I've preferred Japanese parts for fighting games ever since.

  • Yeah i too prefer the ball top to the bat top, to me its holding style. I just got used to a ball top which allows me (Okay side note im going to try and keep this as not gay sounding as it is running through my mind) to lightly have my ring and middle finger on either side of the shaft top and bottom and under the ball to allow for quick movements with of the stick with my middle and index finger and thumb when appropriate..... its kinda hard to explain..

  • I guess its just a matter of preferance. Obviously some prefer bat tops and some prefer ball tops. It really does not matter what other people think as long as you the player use what is best for you. I think we can all agree on that.

  • Im totally in acordance with you those sticks with the ball on the top were made for tmnt not fighting games

  • yeah, growing up playing fighting games in the arcades, all of them used american style joysticks. Its what I grew up with

  • Very cool video thanks for being so informative. I have a silly "on topic" question... what gage wire, and what size quick connects do you use for the buttons/joysticks?

  • Not really sure what gage wire. I pretty much define it as skinny wire size and normal wire size. Both work perfect. As far as quick connect size....well japanese joysticks and buttons tend to use small size connects. American joysticks and buttons tend to use larger sized. I believe I got the joysticks and buttons from groovygamegear

  • Hey cool, thanks dude! I love your videos keep up the good work.

  • no problem. feel free to ask any other questions you might have.

  • How did you fabricate that clear mounting plate? It looks very well made. Could a similar process be used to make a cover for the control panel to cover art?

The Happ bat sticks do fit better into my hand. The only thing they are missing is a restrictor plate. That is an important part for many players.

  • It was made using a cnc drilling machine from my work. Took about 5 minutes. Very easy to do. You should be able to do the same using a hand drill and a dremal

  • Hey thanks alot. I just had to do something. For me the Japanese style was just not "right" for me.

  • Right on man. That's a really good Idea. Hopefully with the fighting games, the plastic won't crack but that it a really cool idea.

  • shit, iwas going to show this channel to you, but you beat me too it!

  • Lol, yeah, I found moomert and thought I had to sub ;D
