Denjin is not always a good choice, because its completely random (assuming you know how to change your timing and make your opponent guess with it). If it hits or not is just a matter of guess, and that makes it risky.
Of course a good hit with it is so powerful. Denjin can give you the match or can make you lose it.
But all I wanted to say is, since its all about guessing, you can catch everyone with Denjin. If your Denjin is ALWAYS parried, you're doing it wrong.
if they parry it, either you do it faster or delay it a second bit longer. after they caught many times with it, they tend to jump so i release it faster.
and even if they parry it, you can still play a solid ryu like sa1 style relying on ex's.
so in my opinion, its his best super if in the right hands. (like me :D)
Ken beats Ryu in Alpha, doesn't he? He gives him the red bandanna because he wants Ryu to keep his head in the game? Something like that. Canonically they're supposed to be exactly equal in strength and potential.
great match. and bonus dmg from taunts, who woulda thought lol.

Ken gets a damage boost from taunting, just in case anyone watching didn't know that, and thought Ken was just being, "cocky."

No one ever expects a denjin ryu to use ex fireballs.

@0:27-0:29
Ken:Just a single Hadouken *parry*
Ryu:*Denjin*
Ken:What the? Ha! Still not stun me yet
Ryu:*Kick*
Ken: Noooo!!!
@1:50
Ken:Not again

ken should have grabbed ryu during close proximity charging denjin in the last round instead of dragonpunch.
zodiacfml 2 years ago
eh i dont think so. denjin would still be charged enough to hit chinta 3x.
he shouldve just done reversal jab shoryu.
dkblade27 2 years ago
that could also work. a grab or dragon punch comes out really fast before the opponent can release a denjin.
zodiacfml 2 years ago 2
dragon punch is safer and faster :)

I think SA 3 is bad because most people parry it.I take SA 1 for EX moves and cuz its very comboable.
RyukendenY 3 years ago 2
ill show you how its done. do you play at 2dfighter?
dkblade27 2 years ago
I do.I know how to do it right, but some people are imune to it.
RyukendenY 2 years ago
nobody is immune to it. ive caught every single person with it MANY times and my success rate is 80% to 95%
against very good players, my success rate is about 70%
you just need to change the timing and set it up right like me.

This match was true to the chars personalities
Ryu: the guy that jus owns without a word
Ken: The guy that talks too much shit but still owns but never beats the guy thats quiet.

Apparently Ryu was distracted from a previous fight which is why he lost. I cant remember what fight though.
Terinamakeregaluega 3 years ago 2
Sagat I believe. He had an intense fight with Sagat.
dkblade27 3 years ago
@Koushoun lol, it's so true. Ken has gotten a lot better. Ryu is just fine the way he is.

Not when you taunt for damage.
ai2006b 3 years ago 20
taunt mainly = provocation. :P
zozokoko1 2 years ago 5
doesnt the taunt give you like 31% more damage on the next combo though?
wngo70 2 years ago 7
not 31% but more dmg w/ ken's taunt
xrangerx 2 years ago
31% is the correct amount.

What a rare match. I don't often see Ryu and Ken matches. And ones that go into a Third Match at that.

Change is sometimes a good thing. Almost every single Street fighter game after II had the same theme for Ryu and it was getting stale :P

meh... its true SFZ2 had almost the same but it was still an awesome remix... the one for alpha 3 is different through
