  • Its creepy when Mark is right..

  • damn, I was looking for this clip for a long time, thanks & cheers!

p.s. surprised David Mitchell, known for his left-wing attitudes, wrote this into the script.

  • @beepandbop Cause those aren't left wing views, those are sane person views. Just cause someone is leftwing doesn't mean they don't belive in interest rates and such. The guy in the clip is a dirty hippie, not a liberal.

  • These arent even hippies. They are scene kids/party jocks. Real people don't sit around damning the system. They usually do some useless protest to get their point across! ^^ Smoke weed every day!

  • Probably my favourite Peep Show moment.

The way he tells him to "fuck off" is just brilliant!

  • What episode is this from?

  • Series 3, episode 5.

  • Love this scene so much - definitely one of the best Peep Show moments. Classic Mark.

ps: There really is NOT a conspiracy to keep us in boxes.

  • There is a conspiracy to keep us all in little boxes and we would be in tribes if they left us alone though, with no teeth in our own shit, but we are slaves. Simple as that.

  • indeed.. lets face it.. Mark's miserable, and his life is shit... but he's just so brilliant at describing it. In a way he's a hilarious study of the willing slave that the free market moulds people into.

  • YEP YOU"RE RIGHT. The recently discovered bushmen have it right! Enlightenment, science, financial institution, it's all keeping you down!! By your great logic, everyone on earth is a slave! Good job bud! Good luck with your book!

  • I agree with ChocolateExplosion. Science, art & philosophy existed before capitalism and they'll exist after it's gone. What won't exist are war, famine and environmental destruction, rooted in the search for profit at any cost.

Peep Show is hilarious, but it's too bad it shows anti-capitalists as stupid, drugged-out hippies. Real anti-capitalism is a democratic, political movement for common ownership i.e. socialism. Mark should join Respect!

  • Yeah, because capitalism created war, and famine right? Mate, you need to come to terms with the world. Nothing will ever be perfect. It's the worst system, except for all the others. Relatively speaking, people in the modern western world are freer, more prosperous, more creative, and generally better off than any other people in history. Nothing worse than this modernist idea that we are all suffering so immensely because of the "slavery" of our modern world. Better than literal slavery!

  • I don't think a world where literally billions of people are starving is perfect. Some people in the global north benefit from capitalism - most don't. This isn't a conspiracy, and you don't have to put slavery in quotes - just go to the UNDP and check out some of the stats on human development. The freedom & prosperity of _some_ in the west comes at the price of the world's poor.

  • I didn't say perfect. Infact I said the world will never be perfect. I am fully aware of how people must suffer in other parts of the world to provide for the life we enjoy here. What I am saying is that is the way life is. Never will change. There will always be poor and rich and a big gap between. Socialism tries to fix that, and it ends up with more power in the hands of the rich, never in the hands of the people lke it is meant to because whoever takes control inevitably abuses their power.

  • Thanks gnomit, I understand your position better now. I'd suggest there's a rich legacy of socialist struggles that have combined economic equality and freedom. I disagree that the failure was inevitable (and therefore that the gap will always be there); I think in most cases - Russia, Spain, etc. - the true revolutionaries were killed. But the failure of those movements doesn't vindicate capitalism: it means we have to figure out how to fight for equality & freedom at the same time.

  • the answer is in a combination of the two systems like in canada, sweden, norway etc. it's the best we got.

  • Mate, you need to stop using generalizations. And plus, your reasoning is exactly what arrested slavers say every goddamn time. "These teenage girls kept in a basement for 3 months with minimal food & nowhere to pee never had it so good!"

"You need to come to terms with the world." Oh, honey, what the hell does that even mean?

  • "Now come on, Fhuck Off" ahahahah A little pill might change it for a few hours though mark, if u'd not been a pussy and tried it :D

  • I felt like literaly Cheering at this scene! Probably one of, if not THE finest mark moment.

  • Note to America. Don't let Michael Scott anywhere near this.

  • What series and episode is this from?

  • Can't remember the episode exactly, but it'll be from season 3.

  • I think it's episode 5, series 3

  • This is just ownage, how hippies should be talked to lmao

  • He says "Fuck off" so perfectly

  • He says every line so perfect; Its the Peep Show :)

Best thing on TV by far

  • "now come on.....fuck off" love it

  • This speech is so brilliant, it sums up everything that is so flawed and idiotic about hippies and hippy culture. Go get a job you druggy drop outs out there!

  • "And a little pill with a chicken on it isn't going to change that"

    Typical Mark. :D

  • This is some good shit.

  • Ravers are the new age hippies! sort em out!!!

  • lol!

  • rofl.

  • I fucking love this scene xD
