it's all about the money. it's based on what the team can pay and what the rider can demand. if they can't agree, move on to the next one and try to negotiate a deal there. james got offered more money so he followed the money. he's gonna get a great bike regardless. there are so many factors. look at mike alessi, nobody wanted him this year so he had to put up his own $. his father is a pain in the ass, so that's a factor. it can be personality conflicts, changes in team management, etc.

i dont get how people can say ahhh that rider shouldve stayed with this bike or that bike. the reason malcom switched is probably partially for money and for the case of just having a ride. maybe kawi didnt wanna sign a contract with him...its not like the rider can pick and choose a company and that company will back them....
