Looks pretty cheesed up. Dagon (2001) was the closest I've seen yet to a full length film adaptation of a Lovecraft work (though there is a short-film in French here on YouTube called Azathoth that comes pretty close). I think the film presented in this clip is a bit of a stretch for me though.
Keep in mind that this film was produced independantly on a tiny budget. But I kind of like it for that, it relies more on the acting and lighting to get the horror across, and it does that pretty well.
Trust me, I have seen a pre-release version of this before. My father was the set-designer on it.
does the acting... well? You obviously aren't talking about this movie.
And as for faithful adaptations, Call of Cthulhu is a bajillion times more faithful than Dagon (which follows a completely different story, loosely), as it is word-for-word exactly the same as the short story. It was even made as a if it were 1926.
Certain liberties have been taken, such as setting it in the modern day, but otherwise it is a pretty faitful adaptation of "The Thing On The Doorstep."
"Mighty to save," through the sacrifice of redemption, He was therefore strong to execute justice upon them that despised God's mercy. And the tokens of His humiliation are His highest honor; through the eternal ages the wounds of Calvary will show forth His praise and declare His power.

Says the prophet, beholding Christ in His glory: "He had bright beams coming out of His side: and there was the hiding of His power." Habakkuk 3:4, margin. That pierced side whence flowed the crimson stream that reconciled man to God--there is the Saviour's glory, there "the hiding of His power."
One reminder alone remains: Our Redeemer will ever bear the marks of His crucifixion. Upon His wounded head, upon His side, His hands and feet, are the only traces of the cruel work that sin has wrought.
hey you guys a little comment about the controversy between Christ and Satan, in which side are you, are you ready? "I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away." Revelation 21:1. The fire that consumes the wicked purifies the earth. Every trace of the curse is swept away. No eternally burning hell will keep before the ransomed the fearful consequences of sin.
This actually looks like it might be pretty good. I don't know who the wizard guy is supposed to be(Ephraim Waite?) but the actress who play Asenath looks EXACTLY like Asenath as I've always pictured her when I read the story.
This is a disgrace on H.P. Lovecraft's name

This seems like a stitching together of different seams of Lovecraft stories.

Seems more like loosely based on "The Thing on the Doorstep".

"...thats not quite true."
"Why? You think I... just did all of this for fun?"
"What the hell is going on here?"
