  • I Love the Guitar ! Funky as Hell !

  • I keep having a smile on my face.

  • I really like your songs. Great stuff! :)

  • INCREDIBLE!!! Are all the sounds and samples you use in this amazing demonstration available preinstalled on the SPD-SX? THANKS!!

  • Very inspiring. Keep up the great work!!

  • Great demonstration and awesome drumming! Is the click pedal part of the SPD-SX and is it included, if you buy it? Additionally And do you know, if it is possible to swtich between (two) different click speeds (during a song) with the foot pedal and the SPD-SX?

  • @paX277 click pedal is not part of the SPD-SX package - you can just use any footswitch actually. You can also start and stop the click from the pads. Yes, by using two kits with their distinct tempo, it's easy to switch between click tempo settings, even by footswitch. Going back and forth is no problem either.

  • This is one of, if not THE best product demos I've ever seen.

  • @craycpanda Thank you very much for this kind comment.

  • haha kheb u gezien vorige woensdag, in belsele

  • one more question michael!

which foot switch can i use for the spd-sx?

  • @iammark90 any footswitch actually goes !

  • Cheers from Greece to the drummer that got me into electronic drums!!!!

  • @steve123k cheers back !!! And wishing you great drumming fun.

  • Great video! I'm thinking about purchase this SPD SX, I own a Yamaha DTX M12 since two weeks ago and I'm kind of disappointed. The DTX just lets me storage 50 user patterns and only 200 WAV/AIF files (23 seconds maximum each) into the 64MB internal memory, have in mind that each 8 seconds file (44.100khz/32bit) takes at least 3MB. Can believe yet the SPD SX has 2GB. There is around 200 songs that I'd like to play along with MIDI/WAV tracks. When the SPD SX is gonna be available on Guitar Center?

  • Wow!!!,awesome drummer :0)

  • :42-:46 is the shit fellas.....mainly boys.....Michael Schack is THE most under-rated clinician out there.....

  • @catechops1970 wow - that's a big statement... I hope I will be able to fulfill expectations one day. Thanks

  • @catechops1970 Yeah, that is a... we'll just call that a win.

  • Does this thing have a built in metronome? I was shocked when I bought a Roland SPD 30 and didn't have it.

  • @femaledeer The SPD-SX has a built in multi-routable click machine. SPD-30 does have a built in metronome - you can use phrase mode for that. It automatically adapts to the tempo setting of each kit.

  • @ michaelschack i was looking again at your octapad vids and now u make me want to buy this too ! I have a very important q, I hope you can answer. I see you are able to record into the spd sx with mic, my question is, are you able to add pitch?and other FX to your recorded vocal, to make cool spacial sounds - kind of dark voices with echo etc. I hope you can answer you talented legend ;)

  • Awesome. Cymbals? Guessing 20" Meinl Sand ride, 16" Byzance traditional hihats, 12" medium byzance traditional hats as x-hats?

    The big hats sound awesome!

  • I noticed you use to high hats instead of one high hat and a ride. Is that because you prefer that set up better?

  • awesome cymbal nut expulsion at 2:15... nice job this rocks!

  • 2:14 He loses he's ride cymbal screw

  • What type of foot switch is that?

  • @reloud37 It's a Roland DP-1. It can have a beating/stepping :-) Even better : use an FS-6U, with which you have double functions.

  • @michaelschack can you trigs sound with the footswitch or only starting click track?

  • great video michael!!!

another question what bass drum do you have and what heads do you use?

  • @iammark90 Thanks ! It's a Ludwig Vistalite clear from late 2004, and kicks right in the bud. Batter head is the latest Remo Powerstroke 3. Snare = Ludwig Vistalite, same year, equipped with Remo CS batter on top and regular Remo Ambassador snareside as bottom head. Hardware = Tama, pedals are Tama Iron Cobra's, Cymbals are Meinl.

  • great video michael!!!

another question what bass drum do you have and what heads do you use?

  • Did I said that you are amazing !!!!! Great !! The Best drummer that I know !

  • @PhilipRivard Thanks for your kind comment !

  • SWEET :D

  • Michael, are all the samples being played in all your videos built in sample files?

  • @guinness2u1 Nope, but you can find them on my play along album, which you can download from my bandcamp.com site

  • -Can we read sample with usb memory or 2gig internal is the max capability?

-Also in the spd-s there was limitation with each patch, limited to wav midi notes number to each pad and cannot access others wav via others midi notes, now it is possible to access to 6 octave of midi notes and use various wav in different midi notes?

  • @Chrisloft You can play WAVS through USB MIDI + 2Gig internal is max . Yes, improved MIDI compatibility, now also channels + Note N° per pad instead of 1 channel for the old SPD-S. Big difference/improvement + higher transfer speed thanks to USB MIDI connection.

  • Thanks Michael!, also what about the trigger function, there is multi layer switch per pad better then spd-s? There was A and B in the spd-s, any new feature added in the trigger pad?

  • Dear Santa...

  • those meinl hats so soooo good... Can you give us specifics and the models? Btw, sickk fill at :42... Cant wait to get my hands on the -SX!

  • @08mike11 Thanks for that ! The Meinl's are all Byzance : 16" Medium Tin Crash Bottom + 16" Thin Crash for Top HH (yes, I use crashes as HH !), 10" Hats and a Benny Greb Sand Ride.

  • Beautiful!!!!!!!

  • 02:15 , the washer and nut flew off!

  • Michael owns an acoustic kit?

  • 02:14 :D

  • Michael, you're a genius!

  • @bigalinaustralia I'm not, I'm just already an SPD-SX addict :-)

  • Oh yes!!! So:

    USB / FireWire?

Drag and drop samples direct to pads?

    Memory capacity?

    Price?

    When can we have one?

    :-)

  • @blackhatshome USB = yes, USB MIDI = yes, included wave manager software for drag and drop = yes, 2GB fast flash = yes, and it's now in full production. Check out the specs on the sites as from now !!

  • I love my SPD-S but;

I can't believe that it will only sample 44.1 k 16bit PCM (AIFF-WAV) but it will store more samples (2GB) than the SPD-S.

I really thought that Roland would hit the 24bit with 48k min.

Did they just beef up the storage on the SPD-S platform? Is this just an upgraded SPD-S in Black?

Why did they not add V drums technology to the PADs of the SPD-SX just like they did with the SPD-30 from the SPD-20?

At 1199.00 USD List price. I would have expected more up to date features

  • @reeread 24-bit@48kHz consumes much more flash memory and you cannot combine the more common 44.1 format with the 48kHz format since it needs clock resets, which would totally sabotage any of the great click and tempo kit assign functions and stretching that are now included. Also, digital Fx would sync differently as well. It's a totally redesign from scratch, pads included and you will be very suprised by how many new things this baby can do. Stay tuned !

  • Cool stuff! Is that a prototype model, or is that the final design?

Guess that means I'll finally be able to close down my blog post at el-tramo.be/blog/spd-s , which was becoming kind of an SPD-S helpdesk/support/forum ;-)

  • @remkotroncon final design !

  • @michaelschack Retro :-) (at least it looks like it from here)

  • How long till it's out?

  • @adzmorris pre-order from today !

  • Hey Michael, nicely done, love your energy on the drums :-)

    Cheers from Canada

    Ydna Murd

  • This is why you're michaelschack, and we are not.
