  • Wtf : 3:16 xD

  • richard christy was the best drummer

  • Holy shit, he's playing ghost notes all the time.

  • I just became the 450th person to 'like' this video, and with those 450 'likes' there has been 0 'dislikes'. I think that says it all.

  • Even trolls are afraid to click dislike! Oh yeah! :)

  • holy fuck, every move he makes is so fluid and purposeful... he makes it look effortless

  • Tremendous drumming. Sean Reinert is so good.

  • needs more cowbell ???

    Fuckin awesome by the way...

  • Anyone able to recognize Sean's shirt? I can't make out what it is.

  • What a soulful playing and such well established technique and unique style at such an early age... Sean and Paul put their death metal mind (that Cynic once had been - before "Focus" was finally brought to the world they knew this was their farewell to death metal genre) - into helping Chuck making Human such a landmark album in death metal.

Not to mention Steve Digiorgio and his powerful fretless bass performance... all the magic ingredients Chuck managed to get together for that one time...

  • Brilliant!!! Just brilliant!!! A true musician.

  • HOLY. SHIT

  • this is some slick drumming

  • Arrechera, por la valienta puta que los parió.

  • You cannot be a better all around metal drummer than Sean Reinert.

  • Legendary!!!! Just awesome!!!

  • This guy is just a god...i dont remember exactly, i think he was 20 years old at that time...

  • @afheadra Even more impressing.

  • 361 likes, 0 dislikes, what else we need to say...

  • @ThrashTilGrave we need to say that you should never write this because you are in the top coment and now someone dislike it ..

  • holy fucking christ @1:50 to infinte

  • Yeah great performance etc. etc. but still Chucks biggest flaw in his whole carreer is not HAVING FUCKIN STEVE DIGIORGIO ON HIS SIDE 24/7.

Fuck man, I know it was cus Steve was in 1000 bands all the time but damn... That bassist BELONGS in Death. Sure, keep doing Sadus, but you should have kept doing Death... The bassists of their other 6 albums (besides human, ctrl denied and thought patterns) really sucked compared to Steve, Chuck deserved better.

Awesome drums... Holy mother of god... <_<

  • notice there are no dislikes for sean, this guy is 1 of the most underated drummers ever, and i personally think he's 1 of the best

  • He's a monster!!!!

  • So mature, musical, tasteful AND extreme.... and only 20 years old here... WOW. Long live Sean Reinert!!!!

  • 45,765 views, 0 dislikes. Death Metal.

  • Hmmm...

  • I think 10,000 of these views is from me.

  • great.

  • Sean is the most versatile drummer on earth!

  • Sean Reinert is my favorite gay drummer :]

  • @DoomTheDrummer666 Wait, what? Since when is Sean gay? And how would you know this info?????

  • @king502sb Either way, Sean is the best no matter what his personal preference is.

  • @king502sb I live around the same area he does and i have some friends who work at the studio where cynic records so yea, apparently him and paul are pretty gay :)

  • @DoomTheDrummer666 Really? I knew there was some speculation about them but i didn't know what to think, well now i guess it's true. That's pretty cool you have friends who work where cynic work.

  • SICKDRUMMER NR.1!!!!!

  • Best drummer alive. His work with Cynic is godly.

  • 0:00-4:15 Fucking great Music

  • @cmpunkfan9 So's your dad

  • @UKRCyanide Wouldnt be alive if he was mate

  • @cmpunkfan9 I'm not your "mate" and I doubt you'd be alive if it wasn't for that drunken Friday night when your parents decided they didn't need a condom

  • @UKRCyanide good one mate

  • @cmpunkfan9 Fuck off cunt, Sean probably banged your mom in front of your dad and he didn't do shit about it.

  • @cmpunkfan9

Nah he isn't. He is one of the best drummers in the world though. What are you? Your nothing.

  • @cmpunkfan9 You got that from your GAYdar ?

  • @cmpunkfan9 how would you know, are you his bitch?

  • I wanna say 2 words only! KILLER DRUMMER !!!!!

  • Why did they cut their hair? :D It would take eternity for me to grow it this long. But apart from that.. Sean is fucking amazing as always.

  • the snare is shaking from his awesomeness

  • what golden years those were...

  • how is he doing that at the end? with the ride cymbal it sounds like hes hitting it at with a 16th note beat but it only looks like hes hitting it at 8th note beat. is there an extra ride on his left side and hes alternating each hand or is it a lag and he really is hitting all those notes with one hand or what?

  • @cmsasuke17 I don't know for certain what his kit set-up was back then, but I'm pretty sure he's using the hi-hat (in the normal, left side position) for the "double ride" parts.

  • @Steve128967 i've read in an interview of sean reinert that he plays double bass, beginning with the left foot, striking the bass drum and also the hit hat

  • @Steve128967 i've read in an interview of sean reinert that he plays double bass, beginning with the left foot, striking the bass drum and also the hit hat

  • @michboul Yeah, he does.

  • @cmsasuke17 he's just alternating from hitting the ride and the top of the hi hat.

  • He´s the best!!! Death never had an better Drummer than Sean!!!!!

  • @wuaschdkobf all the drummer of death belong to the top... how could you said that?

  • @wuaschdkobf

I could not agree with you more, but Gene Higlan was also superb as well as the drummer they used for SoP. Bill Andrews was total garbage though.

  • @4:15 Chuck, the Master of Death!

  • I wasn't even born when this was filmed, what a shame.

  • I've never seen a drummer rape a splash as well as he does.

  • Never seen an 18 year old as good as him.

  • fuckin' eh?

  • His cymbalwork is sublime.

  • No fucking triggers on this shit!!!

  • That was fucking insane!

Flawless performance and the cymbals are way different from you would normally hear... tons of up-beat hits and jazzy lead hand patterns on the ride, and his fills stray away from the standard descending 4 note roll on each tom.

Also, that's the sound of an entirely untriggered kit... awesome.

  • @Steve128967 spot on, brother. so, it sounds like u'd be the right guy to explain this to me, being that i'm mainly good with strings and vocals. anyway, would u mind explaining to me wat triggers are, and their purpose??? it'd be appreciated. DEATH FOREVER! R.I.P. CHUCK.

  • @opethinchains Certainly... basically, a trigger is something you attach to a drum which when "triggered" sends a pre-selected sample through something, whether it be headphones/in-ear monitors, the front of house speakers, etc.

There are many things they can be used for-- they make it easier to hear the bass drum when recording (mainly for super fast stuff) and also allow the bass drum to be heard better live. They aren't "cheating" whatsoever, in fact it actually makes it a bit harder.

  • @Steve128967 thank fucking god someone that actually knows music!! everybody always says how can you like trigger recording better? that's cheating. lmao thank you this made my day

  • hahaha the guy in the begining "SPIRITUAL HEALING!" haha

  • no puedo creer que este Huevon toco con Death y Cynic a la vez ese año. la interpretación inpecable.. uno de los pocos bateristas buenos de la antigua escuela.

  • Sean Reinert , le batteur de la Mort !!!

  • My aunt had got brain tumer... RIP aunty..... man it used to be so scary coz she started losing her memory, she couldn't even remember her own siblings... I went to see her in the hospital....and she got scared of me coz she couldn't recognize me... I was so shocked and frightened.. I just can't imagine what kind of sad moments our Chuck must have been through... Death must really be proud of Chuck and he must have been searching for someone like Chuck to start up his band.. RIP Aunty RIP Chuck.

  • Yeah!, i love his little splash accents, andy drummer that does that has great technique.

  • how the fuck does he do that fill at 2:47

  • Totally fucking stunning. Amazing drumming.

  • @mk1gte Yeah!, i agree, totally brutal, yet total melody, simply DEATH!!!.

  • I can watch this video 100's of times.

Sean is one of the greatest metal drummers .

  • Death may have been on Beavis and Butthead or something. Just a small clip, or headbangers ball? Mtv used to have a decent late night metal show. Years and years AND years ago

  • Sean you a god , man human open the doors to this crazy off beat style of death metal .. amazing performance ....peace

  • dude this was in cincinnati!? why the hell was wasn't I born yet!

  • sometimes abit less is more, seems that whenever i hear Richard Christy play this song he over does alot of the fills. Sean makes the drums meld into the song simply amazing.

  • I can drum like this blindfolded. Oh yeah, and I've also only got one arm and one leg. ;)

Slightly off topic it's odd how nobody ever tries to cover Cynic songs. Actually It's not odd at all, but I'd like to hear some bands have a try.

    Thanks for sharing Sean.

  • Thank you so much for posting these. I typed in Sein Reinert Death into the search just hoping for maybe a few clips. I had no idea all this amazing footage existed.

  • he makes it seem so effortless...

  • sean was around 19 .20 years in this video, see how plays so easy.how many years to plays like this, only can do it sean

  • Comment removed

  • lol SPIRITUAL HEALING

  • I've been playing drums for 2 years now, and I could play just about every metal song my way, which is a little different but still matches the guitar, bass and vocals. This song is the toughest song for me. The bass drums are fucking fast. I'll try this song later on, let's just hope I can do it

    RIP Chuck

  • man he is fuckin badass

  • uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh sean!!!!!!!

  • @SADUS44 I would climax to him too, man.

  • i allready saw these videos, but it's still magic!!!

  • hell yeah, bogarts is amazing =D

  • this is the best!

  • Beautiful drum part for this song. Sean Reinert is a one of a kind drummer.

  • Nice-first video I've seen on Youtube since the change that has no thumbs down.

For a good reason as well.

Can't believe there's a Joey Jordison drum cam vid in related vids; so damn overrated.

  • the day after I was born

  • Richard Christy kind of screwed up songs off HUMAN when Death played in Eindhoven, or at least struggled to replicate Reinert's original performances. That's not to say he isn't hugely talented, and does a great job on TSOP, but Reinert was amazing with Cynic, with his ability to go through pumelling metal to jazzy fills, so I think its between him and Hoglan. Hoglan may be the better metal drummer, but Reinert has more variety in his playing.

  • @TenTonHorse heh heh. I love them all. But I agree with you.

  • @TenTonHorse You said it man! Agreed

  • @screamjyser Cheers

  • richard christy????

  • man who would have thought these guys played bogart's? it seems everyone has... i saw opeth there.... actually that's the only time i've been there haha. but damn... chalk one up for ohio

  • every time i feel like i'm a good drummer I'll hear a reinert drum fill or a danny carey groove that'll literally blow my mind. i go back to the drawing board. i just watched this and together as one, and I don't know how many times i would rewind the song just to try and COMPREHEND pun intended what the fuck he exactly just played. he's one of my greatest influences and I applaud his inginuity and perserverance.

  • personal favorite album, and sean reinert is the muhfuckin man. he does cynic great justice.

  • omfg hes the drummer of cynic???? holy shit!

  • Deaths best drummer, truly awesome clip. Thanks for all your kick ass videos dude.

  • dude...Gene Hoglan obliterates every drummer Death has ever had

Richard Christy and Sean Reinart are very close though

  • @MoshersRage I agree that he does now, but for as the stuff that they played on their respective Death albums specifically, I'd have to give it to Christy. Live in L.A. is especially ridiculous! Not to put down Hoglan in any sense, he's absurd and a half.

  • @MoshersRage Meybe so..but Seans performance in Human is legendary...!!!

  • I can see Paul's hair flying above one of the toms.

  • HOLY COW

  • very good ... very crazy ... perfect! = D

  • 2:40 - 3:00 FUCKIN AWESOME!

  • when th death is grooooving !.. killer

  • fuckin flawless!!!

  • Awesome! from the days before every fricken drummer played with triggers. This dude has some serious fricken feet to make those kicks strokes that powerful at those speeds.

  • How had Sean Reinert learnt to play drums that well by the age of 20? Amazing.

Thank you for the great material, Mr. Sitka!

  • SPIRITUALL HEALIINNGG

  • so much passion and energy in chucks voice, man i never met him, but i miss him

  • Sean is God!

  • Great Metaldrummer!

  • no Sean is alive and well and plays for Cynic, c-187 with mamali of Pestilence and another band that isn't out yet. sadly it was Chuck who passed on.

  • would be great to have the whole concert of this shot lol :) cool beans gonna see sean next month

  • @metal4metalcom isnt he dead

  • awesome. love the moeller.

  • It's amazing how great you can hear his kick strokes. Sean will always be a god.

  • fucking amazing drummer.

  • Love this video!!! Thanks for posting

  • its amazing that someone can fill a whole song with interesting fills/beats.

  • 2:55 classic moment :-)

  • Fucking Great!!!!!!\,,/

  • youve been holding out on us buddy

  • nice

  • oh my god 1:39

  • It was the Philosopher on MTV.

  • no it wasn't on MTV are you kidding me?

  • @SeanSitka so why did chuck say mtv

  • @TheMathPipe MTV played the music video of Lack of Comprehension, that's what he was referring to.

  • @SeanSitka Headbanger's Ball did.

  • @SeanSitka

haha hard to believe, but it definitely was.

  • @SeanSitka: i remember seeing it on MTV years ago... not this video, of course, but the actual video clip...

  • @SeanSitka Yup MTV still plays it. They also play The Philosopher and God Of Emptiness (Morbid Angel) on a show called MTV Loud. It's on at like 3 in the morning though.

  • @SeanSitka yeah it was on headbangers ball i got it on tape

  • @SeanSitka

Yep - it was when Headbanger's Ball would play awesome shit. I actually remember the night this premiered - it was same night as Primus' Jerry Was a Racecar Driver and Napalm Death's Mass Appeal Madness. I was lucky enough to tape it that night and I wore a hole in that VHS trying to learn the drum part to this awesome tune...

  • lol this video on mtv!?!?! isn't amazing how much the media has changed in the past 18 years.

  • no it wasn't on MTV are you kidding me!!

  • headbangers ball......yeah it probably was

  • I remember seeing it on MTV's Headbanger's Ball once or twice. I would sit there on a Saturday night with my finger on REC on the VCR, hoping to capture it for good. I never did.

  • @SeanSitka Yes it was on MTV, Headbanger's Ball actually had good music on it once upon a time...

  • @SeanSitka maybe on headbanger's ball & thats it

  • @SeanSitka this wasn't on mtv but the actual video for lack of comprehension was, suprisingly enough

  • @drumdadio It was on mtv. It was also on headbangers ball and the Philosopher video was featured in Beavis and Butthead. Wow thats a late response, but true. Stay metal man

  • @drumdadio the music video!!!

    look it up

  • @drumdadio The music video was on MTV but not this performance.

  • Let me pop this videos cherry then.

This is fucken awesome footage of The man behind the Human Drum kit.
