This video inspires me to rebuild my 350 turbo transmission. I think you make it easier to understand the order the parts go for someone just beginning. Keep up the good work "I SUBCRIBED".
packing a transmission is one thing but i take a prof to know the single thing causing the trouble that is why you dont see transmission shop everywhere . you can quikly got out of business in this activity .ASK FORMERS TRANNY SHOP OWNER . MANY AROUND.
@babouinga this is my own trans out of my truck, the clutches where worn out, the bushings worn out, one clutch drum thrust washer face was badly worn, i did a pre build before doing this video so that i had the correct clearances, shims etc.
I don't do this for a living or for anyone else.
i installed a shift kit and a full master rebuild kit.
this video just shows me putting it all back in second time round, just for a video, nothing more nothing less.
ok got it to take off...replaced all the clutches..not even considered clutches anymore just plain metal. The transmission is ready to be put back in...all assembled again..my question is when i move the input shaft..the output shaft doesn't turn...y? maybe it needs the oil first? maybe it will turn once its on the motor and running?..ty
hey bud...stupid question but i took off all the components of the tranny and such..all the bolts even the bell housing to the motor...it wont budge or slide off...what could it be?..its a 97 jeep grand cherokee laredo 6 cylinders...ty
Nice instructional vid. I just did a rebuild on a 4EAT with out any instructions and it turned out to be quite time consuming for I had to learn as I tore the tranny down how it all went back in.
Glad you liked it :) and yeah it can take awhile to learn how they go together in the right order.
I dont personally know the transmission you did, but i did find having a book helped on setting up tolerances required on the clutch packs for them to work correctly without drag bind when gear change occurs ( 2 gears engaged together ) I also fitted a shift kit for street use.

@notsoright thats correct the oil builds up pressure on a clutch pack when you select drive then friction from clutches connects output shaft.
hope all goes well for you as in my video it dont show me setting up clutch pack tolerance or front pump shims for end float etc...
my video just shows me putting it together after i already checked everything etc and took it all out just for a video. things we do for fun :) lol

@notsoright Hi bud
I know it might sound stupid but you didnt miss one bolt ?
have you unbolted the torque converter from the fly wheel ?
got the weight of transmission supported ?
if all the above is done then try using a pry bar gently to free it from motor.
without me actually being there and seeing it, its very hard for me to say why its hanging up there.
hope this helps..
