They're is no material weight backing the dollar to say the Fed can only print this much or the dollar has this much in value so the government can continue to ask for loans. I like Mr. Paul, but my vote is for MITT. In 3 years, he took the Olympics from a $400 million deficit and left it with a $100 million surplus...all WITHOUT compensation. What's the point of gold as money? It's value changes drastically based on factors America can't control. Which has had its value change more in say the last decade, the US dollar or gold? It completely volatile, based on the perceptions of traders at the time. Wouldn't most people in the rest of the world find it disturbing if the US dollar had increased in value by hundreds of percent over the course of a decade? What if the value of your life savings dropped by 700% instead of rising?

Also, the thought of paper being valueless, true, but why do people put such stock in gold and silver? It is just the rarity of these metals that makes them precious and valuable. If they were as abundant or reproducible as paper, they would be worthless as well. It is a value that people assign to a thing, not an intrinsic value that a thing has on it's own.

In the general election, do right-in votes count? Interesting that Ron Paul gets little - if any attention from the main stream media. His message is simply too hard to digest. Then again, truth is often an unpopular thing. Doesn't make what he is talking about any less real. The USA has over the past three decades intentionally exported our wealth. Gold @ $1800 an ounce; and a dollar today worth 18 cents of buying power compared to 1970 - perhaps the man knows what he is speaking of.

A couple paid about $17-18 in 1952...can have a room at the same price 60 years later for their "Golden Anni". I believe the cheapest rate today is around $320 or so. You can do the inflation rate, I am burned out. I assume it is $18 divided by $320 =s almost 18. Inflation would be 1800%. Did I do it right? Disgraceful and crooked.

They're is no material weight backing the dollar to say the Fed can only print this much or the dollar has this much in value so the government can continue to ask for loans. That's how the billion dollar wars are fought. The new money created is instant debt with interest attached so the only way to pay it back is more loans. Inflation of money occurs and it devalues. Then with every dollar printed it allows them to print nine more.

I like Mr. Paul, but my vote is for MITT. In 3 years, he took the Olympics from a $400 million deficit and left it with a $100 million surplus...all WITHOUT compensation. As governor of Massachusetts, he lead them from a 3 billion deficit to a 2 billion surplus within 4 years--all while working with an 85% democratic legislature. What's the point of gold as money? It's value changes drastically based on factors America can't control. Which has had its value change more in say the last decade, the US dollar or gold? It completely volatile, based on the perceptions of traders at the time. Wouldn't most people in the rest of the world find it disturbing if the US dollar had increased in value by hundreds of percent over the course of a decade? What if the value of your life savings dropped by 700% instead of rising?

When(not if) we got back to bullion money, if the human population is over a few billion gold and silver will be worth more than they ever have been because of this fact. I have never been as excited about politics as I am now. Ron Paul brings hope that our government might not be to far gone. Just by running, Paul has exposed the media as being biased and most likely bought and paid for. Corruption is nothing new in America, but when someone challenges the status quo the way Paul does, it really brings the dirty politics out.

Gold is a safe asset to survive these market contractions but not a good asset for currency. What is important is to control the quantity of currency, at the moment private institutions such as the fed and the banks do this. If Doctor Paul wants sound money just give back the control of printing currency to the people, debt free and interest free.

So in a free market of money, you'd prefer a money which has no useful economic purpose over one that does? So if some private bank offered you printed paper backed by a promise to pay back in more paper you'd prefer this over a promise to pay in gold?
