  • It looks like the 2wd is better than the 4wd in the curves. 4wd spins in the curves.

  • @Vazquez12able

my 4x4 was running on 3S at the time, ad was way overpowering the track.

making it much harder to handle that if it was on 2S

  • Хреново водят...

  • @exaturbo what kinda run times do you get on 2s

  • @mcvaluemenu

15 - 20 minutes depending on how you drive and what capacity battery you run.

  • looks like 1/10 or bigger

  • @superwazzup98

    all were 1/10 scale.

  • @superwazzup98 Slashes are preety big. Around 560 mm

  • 1/16 or 1/10

  • is the whit one the 4x4

  • @epicairsoftperson

no, the 4x4's are the blue / yellow ones.

  • @exaturbo oh

  • The 2WD seems to handle surprisingly well compared to the 4x4... or is it just driver skill? ^^

  • @aliensuperweapon

you are right. it's mostly lack of skill on the part of the driver of the 4x4 (me)

and also, if the 4x4 was running 2S like the rest of the cars, it would have been a lot more controllable. on 3S on this track surface, it was way too much power.

    but it was fun.

  • You are running at 30+ mph ?

  • On 2S these will easily do 30mph.

On 3S its closer to 50mph.

They aren't the fastest thing you will ever drive, but impressive for the size / cost.

  • @exaturbo With th 3s and 50mph you changed something or only the baterie ...?

  • @Tsinepanos

the only change i made was the 3S battery pack.

if you wanted to gear it up im sure it would go faster, but then you start loosing acceleration.

if you want to go fast, try the rustler VXL on 3S. it's very fast.

  • that looks hella fun

  • I heard the thumper in the back right as they went around the corner... i was like HOLY SHIT! Who put a yz450f in their Traxxas? Is that legal?

  • @hechet they are $365

  • how much are thies cars i want one :)

  • lol are these things efi?

  • This is the stock motor right?

  • @wildcatz123

yep. my truck was running 3S at the time. the other 4x4 was on 2S and the 2WD was on 7.2 Ni-Mh.

all three trucks were running stock electronics.

  • My brother have the 4wd vxl ultimate , I got the 2wd vxl.. I prefer my 2wd.. The 4wd have to much trouble,, runs hot until it shutdown, over complicated, ball bearings on center axle is very expoced to rocks and sand, it randomly locks the entire drive line.. Destroying bearings, slipper clutch and even center differential.. my 2wd is super reliable.. The only parts I replaced was after a serious crash.. it wasn't more than 10$ in parts.. Every part I break will be replaced with rpm..

  • 0:13, damn I thought that was the RC car

  • @Ekas12345 haha that was a 250 or 450 dirtibke. it sounds amazing

  • My friends' one goes 60.

  • I know the vxl wont be as fast with nimh but will it still be considerably faster than a stock 12t slash motor?

  • @250hdd

on 8.4V i would think it would be faster. on 7.2v im not so sure.

  • @250hdd yes it is iam from an rc club and we tested if the vxl is faster then an stock 12t slash it is not mutch but yea

  • @hai2you2 nope vxl does not stand for vehicle size. all brushless model from traxxas are vxls with exception of the revo 1/8th. they are 1/10th trucks

  • very nice video!!! does the 4wd trucks handle lipo and brushless better? i have 2wd and a 2s lipo and can't keep the drivetrain in working order. idler gear stips wearing out and breaking integy and mip driveshafts will this stop with 4wd?

  • @mower26

never had a problem with the driveline in all the time i was running 3S.

with one exception ! i didn't read the book where it says not to use the centre diff with 3S or on-road conditions. i managed to do both, and the centre diff melted !

i put the original spur locker in the centre, and haven't had any problems since.

  • is that a 1/10

  • @makemeworse351

Yes, they are all 1:10 scale trucks.

  • how do you run them so long without battery dying

  • @HamTheKiller

    easy, LiP0 power !

they are all running on 5000 mah minimum lipo packs.

  • @exaturbo how long do they last? i g2 get one

  • @HamTheKiller

depends upon your driving style and gearing.

mine was getting close to 20 minutes.

  • @alexander330d

that's the off road course for the rc buggies and SC trucks.

ill try to get some video of that next time im out there.

  • I have a 2wd slash, is it wort it to upgrade to vxl from the xl-5?

  • @27motorider

the VXL is way faster than the XL5, so if speed is a factor, i would say yes.

also the VXL is waterproof. so you can go into mud and snow and not hurt anything.

i would just unclip the body, then literally hose off the truck after a run to remove the mud !

(after removing the battery first !)

are you using lipo of nimh for power ?

the VXL loves lipo, both 2S and 3S. it's wicked fast on 3S power.

  • @exaturbo how much duz it cost, and what does vxl mean? if u dont kno wut it means, than whats the difference between the vxl, and the regular slash 4x4

  • @anthony3leaves

VXL is traxxas's brushless power system. any traxxas model with VXL in the name is brushless.

the 4x4 is a stronger built truck, its way faster, and easier to control.

  • what batteries you running those lasted forever?

  • @scooterforlife37

    i was using a 20C 11.1V 3S 5400 LiPo in the 4x4.

i dunno what the other guys were running though....

  • nice little track to mess around and practise on. im thinking about building something like this in the summer just to go out and mess around on.

  • @ChiralProductions

    i agree 100%.

on 3S power the 4wd has too much power for most tracks.

it's a much nicer drive with 2S power

  • just read about these on traxxas' website. i'm more of an hpi guy myself. but this thing looks like a beast. now, you can't run the 4wd in 2wd? that's something i've always wanted in an rc truck.

  • @blklightning330

no reason you couldn't remove the whole rear end of the truck, then slide the drive shaft out and run

it as a RWD truck i guess. the whole rear end comes off in one unit with only 4 screws to undo.

takes only about 1 minute to take it apart.

  • @exaturbo yeah, but i'd need to remove the front end to remove the front drive shaft, right? so how long does that take to remove?

what's the price difference of the two, if you know. i already have a savage ss, so i guess i could just grab the 2wd and be set since i'd still have a pretty bad ass 4wd truck.

  • @blklightning330

no need to remove the front half of the truck, as the shaft will just slide out once the rear end is removed.

if you really need the front end off, it's 6 screws from memory.

  • wwhich do you prefer for dirt oval 2wd or 4wd

  • @pimpdawg7

My driving style suits the 4wd, but if you like a car that's a little loose and tail happy,

the 2wd may suit you better.

  • @exaturbo well idk im thinkin bout both 2wd n 4wd but im not sure i like the tail out there

  • @exaturbo alright well u should make more videos of on this track this is probably my 5th time watching it... it never gets old

  • @exaturbo alright well u should make more videos of on this track this is probably my 5th time watching it... it never gets old another thing u should do is get a body that doesnt have a winshield or get a body with a clear winshield and put a camera in it

  • @exaturbo u should make another video of this track and get a body eith a clear winshield snd put a camera inside it that would be kool

  • @pimpdawg7

i am planning to get an onboard camera in the not too distant future.

i will be uploading some new RC clips once i have the camera.

  • @exaturbo NICE!!!!!!

  • i bought my 2wd at hobby town usa for 249.99 that was with a battery and a charger, and i got another battery for 12 bucks so it ended up being 283 and some change...

  • Wow you over paid for the 2wd I just bought the vxl 4x4 with the 2.4 links controller for 350 at hobbytown

  • 4wd have the adv. on the circle but the 2wd has it on the offroad track

  • my 2wd was 375 with the 3500 velineon brushless motor all waterproof

  • How much did the 2WD truck cost? Im interested in buying one, but i dont have 350 bucks to drop on one.

  • @atallguy124

all of the trucks in the video were bought through Tower hobbies.

i personally don't know how much the 2wd one was though, as it wasn't mine.

you should be ably to find a really good truck second hand on ebay for sensible money.

if you want new, check out tower hobbies.

  • @exaturbo thanks man. I actually have an electric rustler (the 35+ mph one) and it hasnt been working recently, but i heard the motor that comes on them causes problems. it could be the battery too, im not sure i guess haha

  • @atallguy124 my 2wd was 250 brushed and then i put a brushless velineon in for 160 when i had it

  • @atallguy124 hate to tell you this but the 2wd slash vxl will run you about $350, and the 4x4 is about $400.

  • @indy34096 bull shit i could get a 4x4 vxl 1/16 with the battery and a charger and transmitter for $244

  • I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that the 2wd driver is the most experienced..

  • did the one slash have 1/8 scale tires?

  • @GRT22KID

yep, one had 8th scale adaptors installed so it could run the 8th scale wheels.

it didn't give the car any advantage.

  • @GRT22KID it sure looks like it does

  • i thought the vxls were the small ones? whats the difference beween the slash vxl,the slash ultimate, the slash platinum and the and the regular?, is the vxl the regular one? which one should i get, slash 4x4 1/16 for 269$ or the slash 1/10 2wd for 250$ ? i'm new at this rc stuff, please reply

  • @PhillieBRidin

the VXL part of the name refers to the fact that the car or truck is Brushelss powered.

brushless in heaps more power, and it's almost maintenance free.

the platinum edition has a bunch of upgrades already installed (hence it's more expensive)

the 1:16 cars are about half the size (not quiet) of the 1:10 cars

if your new to RC, the 4x4 will be easier to drive. but like all 4wd's it under steers on power

but that's better (in my opinion) than an over steering vehicle.

  • @exaturbo thanks!!!:) but why is the ultimate more expensive then the platinum edition? sporry for all the questions, lol:P

  • @PhillieBRidin

i think the Platinum edition does not include the radio.

    the ultimate edition does.

    im not entirely sure....

  • @PhillieBRidin ya like he said its ready to race all u need is batteries for the controller and i think it comes with it

  • @funnydude7332 ive owned both slash 4x4 and i now have a slash 2wd................ sort of tells ya right there. i got rid of my slash 4x4..... peice of shit and definatly not worth the high price. get the new slash 2wd vxl with 2.4ghz! modelsport uk

  • Oval is for Pussy´s...............

  • is the car a stuck 2wd ???

  • @ianiter

both of the 2WD's were not stock.

one had wheel and tyre upgrades, the other one motor / driveline.

  • @TheJoltcola

That's one Tough truck ! (must be a little out of shape though ?)

  • @funnydude7332

it's a great truck for either racing or just bashing.

i mostly just bash mine with a few friends RC cars and trucks.

have raced twice though, im not particularly good at it.....

  • @funnydude7332

the 4x4 will be easier to control from a driving standpoint,

the 2wd is still a great truck though.

in the end, you need to decide if your planning to race it too.

as local classes will have an impact on what you run.

  • @TheJoltcola

    i agree 100% !

i was forever having to remove the rear end to get the rocks out of the drive shaft enclosure.

  • @exaturbo

Look for RPM gearcover on Ebay it will help all of your problems !

  • Wenn ihr schon mit nem Slash fahren wollt. lernt wenigstens damit umzugehen. Grade mit dem 2WD

  • kewl vid...i have 2wd slash..gonna build a track soon..on my back yard have 2 acres...post a vid soon...would you mind if i suscribe?

  • starting made me laugh so hard XD

  • which one should i buy

what is better on 2wd and what is better on 4wd?

    nice vid!

  • @XxMemnodxX

    thanks

in my opinion, the 4x4 is better in every respect.

  • @XxMemnodxX

the only thing the 2wd has over the 4wd is it's lighter.

but the extra power of the 4x4 easily overcomes this.

  • absolutly 5 stars

the only one lack, is the unknown gearing from these beasts

I love traxxas cars, even more if they are 4wd

    sorry my english

  • @cristianoid

the 4x4 was factory stock gearing.

i do not know what the 2wd was running.

  • i have a stock 2wd and i broke the frame should i buy a 4wd or fix the 2wd and get it brushless??

  • @konarider513

    that's a tough decision.

it's gonna come down to cost i guess (how much you can / want to spend)

the 4x4 is better in almost all respects. but it does have the typical 4x4 understeer on full throttle.

if you are going to convert to brushless, it might be similar cost to a new 4x4 (by the time you sell anything you can from the 2wd)

also remember, if you are racing, you will be in a different class with the 4x4 too.

  • wet the tracl lol

  • drivers are not the best....

  • Very very funny! all 3 slashes are so powerful! thx for sharing...btw I need to buy one sooooon!

  • Those 4x4's were awesome. They way they were backing into the turns was incredible. And on 2s!

  • @t0e0m0a0x0x

only one of the 4x4's was on 2S.

the one with the stock wheels was running 3S

the other 4x4 and the 2wd were on 2S packs.

but, yeah we had a great day out.

everyone that has riven my 4x4 wants to buy one.

  • @t0e0m0a0x0x

yeah, i was surprised at how well the 2WD did up against the 4x4's.

the owner of the 2WD is a way better driver than me, and the 3S was overpowering the track badly too.

    great fun.
