Gold is MUCH better than fiat currency. If we go back to a gold standard, our standard of living will dramatically improve.

It should be the decision of individual States if they want to go to a gold standard, mixed-metal standard, or fiat standard. Also remember that America became independent from Britain by establishing its own paper money in the colonies of which Benjamin Franklin's "scrip" was most successful. What you have today is private "credit" and fractional reserve banking which is totally out of control.

The issue of paper money is not so much that paper is bad, but rather it is easier for the issuing institution to abuse its power to issue money. Gold and silver establish a market discipline, thus protecting people purchasing power.
