That was one of the best videos I've seen in a long, long time. I have such pictures, dating back to the 40's, and I just learned something. I'm starting right now. Thanks. Loved it.
Thanks so much for sharing your video! I am presently in the process of digitizing all of my family's pictures, slides and cassettes, etc. This is a huge under-taking, but I am very excited to be able to document my findings for future generations.
Please tell me you have at least backed-up all your Dad's hard work to a couple of external drives (plus an off-site backup). Western Digital MyBooks are pretty good (and cheap). Good luck with the project :)
Been trying years to explain this to a family member. I wanted access to family pictures all documented - time place by our photographer Father. I especially wanted get the slides, film and prints from Germany 1946 - 1949. Since 1988 I have not been able to access any thing. Now I have reason to believe he didn't have any idea what I was talking about - what was involved. If I can train him to click on a link I will have him watch this video. I even have Dragon Naturally Speaking!

Great stuff.... I've also been scanning (mainly from negs) many thousands of family pics also from the 40s for my kids and grandchildren
I cannot stress strongly enough (my bad experience)
BACK UP TO AN EXTERNAL DISK AFTER EVERY 30 MINUTES WORK.
My computer totally crashed out after a thunder/lightning storm last year... hard disks, mother board... the lot!
Fortunately, I only lost about 3 days of work... I was backing up weekly... now, it's every 30 minutes!
Good luck with the project

Your Father is an absolute legend.
What a great family history resource. I'm to flabbergasted to say more.
