The critics of using air support vs 3 enemy fighters obviously have never been in combat or never even had combat training. They don't appreciate the huge difference tactically superior terrain and fortifications can make. Like a guy armed with a hunting rifle on top of a mountain or university tower can bring several hundred well armed men to a virtual standstill.

@oeyesea still u can outflank them while main unit directs attention todraw enemy fire upon them by short bursts. It needs courage and faith in unit to do it. Air support is used mainly to take down heavy artillery or ammo depots or defending base camps or wave attacks. This why america lose the fight. Busy fighting the jungle more than against the VCs. They consider the terrain as alien not home. This should change.

American's can't use Air Power cuz that is too much force but the taliban can use IED"S, VBIED"s and suicide bombers but that is okay though. Plus the air support was a Huey with a door gunner. Not even a Cobra. You use what you have and America has some cool stuff and we should use it as much as possible.

The longer you fight with the enemy that cannot be routed or destroyed the faster your ammo runs out and your odds of taking casualties increases.
