Although you may have been falsely taught that FDR lead the US out of the depression and that Reagan ruined the economy, you and everyone else must look to the actual facts of what happened during those times, and then you will see the truth behind my words.
He regulated the economy through many policies, and also created artificial price floors and ceilings, which in turn caused shortages for some goods and surpluses for others. The major problem was deflation, which meant prices for certain goods were dropping, leading to companies making less of that good and hiring less people.
@hockeyman4492 As the saying goes: Ignorence is bliss. Of course it's a lie, but I get sick of arguements breaking out on this wonderful song's space. But to be frank, history is my favorite subject, the Civil War and WWII being my favorite.
I do agree that Hoover may have paved the way for the Great Depression. However, it was not because he deregulated, it was because Hoover believed in government intervention, and he also increased government spending during the late 1920's. When FDR came into office most all of historians agree he prolonged the depression many years. Unemployment went up to almost 25% during the Great Depression, the highest it had ever been at that time.
When businesses can expand they can supply a higher quantity of goods at a particular price, which also means prices will decrease, causing consumers to spend more. This idea is simply hard to argue against, because it is backed up by actual fact, versus your idea which is not.
Saying "the reagan model ruined the economy in the late eighties" is like saying oranges are green. When he inherited the recession that Jimmy Carter left, it took him seventeen months (August 1981 - January 1983) to fix it. Evidence for this is found if you look up unemployment rates declining during his administration online. Also, he implemented tax cuts and reduced domestic spending. Since he stopped regulating the economy businesses were able to expand and hire more people.
Also, I meant to say during the Reagan Administration when the government was less restrictive, the economy was better, and when the economy was regulated such as during the FDR Administration, the economy was worse, as evidenced by the Great Depression.
@hockeyman4492 the reagan model ruined the economy in the late eighties. FD fixed the mistakes that hoover and coolidge had made by deregulating. only a retard would think supply side economics would work
And although you may say our economy is in the toilet now because of capitalism, it is because the government has encroached on the economy and regulated it too much. Evidence for this is the fact that in previous years such as the Reagan Administration. If the government were not to interfere as much, the economy would work the way it should, and everyone would have equality of opportunity, but success would only come after hard work and perseverance.
When you imply the reason opportunity is less because of a capitalist economy, that is completely false. Rather, only in a capitalist economy is equality of opportunity possible. What you are referring to is equality of outcome, which occurs in socialist and communist/command economies. These economies clearly do not work, which history tells us (Soviet Russia). Even today in socialist countries in Europe, their economies are terrible and their standard of living is much lower than in America.
I also agree that government education attempts to increase opportunity, however, currently it is failing because public schools are teaching kids that everyone will succeed no matter what they do. This concept warps their concept of reality and sets them up for failure in the real world.
I agree that my "nobody" and "somebody" statement was a little off. What I meant was that anyone can start off doing something like selling computers out of a garage until they found one of the biggest consumer electronics companies in the world (Steve Jobs). There are countless stories of how people have succeeded through sheer determination.
The American Dream is the idea that anyone can be successful regardless of social status through hard work and perseverance. However, this does not mean everyone will succeed just because they live in America. We are given equality of opportunity not equality of outcome. So everyone who is hating on America should stop, because only in a democratic capitalist country like America is it possible to start out as a nobody and work your way up to being a somebody.
@hockeyman4492 I think that the element of your philosophy that people (such as I) might take umbrage with is inherent in your justification when you refer to "nobodies" and "somebodies".
Aside from that embarrassingly socially divisive and class-based argument, there are also issues with your statement that we all have equality of opportunity. While there are government institutions (such as public education) that endeavor to...
@hockeyman4492 ...raise the lower limit of opportunity, shall we say, that does little to actually foster equality, due to the inherent economic unfairness of things such as the condensation of wealth in capitalist systems, and the related issue of inheritance.
While it is irritating for people to make baseless criticisms of our government, please be aware that our government and society are far from perfect, and that it is not only our right, but our OBLIGATION to criticize the government.
This song, after repeated events of my friends and I bursting into this song randomly, became our class song. It's not an opinion per se, but I think the story speaks for itself on how we liked it.

No i was not sent here by someone else
Music is here to be listened and appreciated. Unfortunately there are people out there who say the same old shit over and fucking-over again. Spread this everywhere and hope that the idiots will SHUT UP
We need to blast this in all the big boys fucking rediculously nice houses here on post, any one else with me? If you even know what the hell I'm talking about that is...
@GanaLaMana About trying to get the generals on my old post (post = military base) to stop being fucking cock smooches and do the right thing by not sending boys off to die for some punk ass political agenda. But thats just wishful thinking that I know will never come to be.
@GanaLaMana No shit Sherlock, But I never said I regreted it. I learned a lot. The only down side is that what I learned turned me into a bitter cynic.
@carny426 Why be a cynic when you can accept what you know as unchangeable, walk outside & see the roses bloom, and just suck life in. It's like the song says...take a shower & shine your shoes. You got no time to lose. You are young man, you must be living.
@GanaLaMana I'm a cynic because I genuinely despise the company of most people. The public is a weak mass of semi conscious drones who I find have no ability to accept reason, logic, or even half way intelligent conversation longer than 15 minutes.
@carny426 Would it mean anything if I said I can sympathize? I feel outside of society too. Just out of curiosity...what are your general views/beliefs?
@GanaLaMana My general views are that of logic and reason, I'm a devout anti-theist, the united states has pulled the plug from the drain bellow and it's just a matter of time before the country is toast. This I think is avoidable, but I don't think that anyone is willing to accept the fact that the american dream is just that, a figment of imagination, the stuff of pipe dreams, and a vastly flawed idea left to open for interpretation. I could go on... and you?
@carny426 The American Dream is complete interpretation, it's what you think it is. But i don't understand how the American Dream has anything, at all, to do with your so called argument of reason and logic, and the downfall of the United States/
@thebeltsquad Thats just it, the american dream tells people that they can do anything and become anything, and they'll strive in order to get to where they percieve, most never get there and are constantly grabbin at it even though logic and reason says it's they can't get it. Instead of being realistic, it makes people strive for mostly a lot of shit that doesn't matter
@carny426 Look up anarcho-primitvism. Read Ishmael by Daniel Quinn if you want a philosophical understanding. It took me about 4 years and a lot of thinking after turning 17 before I finally came to this conclusion. "Primal Blueprint"- nutrition, "People's History of the US"- busts founding fathers fanatics, "Myth of Mental Illness"- psychology, "Sex At Dawn"- sexuality, etc etc. Everything points to the fact that society has us in captivity! The best life is that of a "Leaver" (Ishmael vocab).
@GanaLaMana Couldn't agree more, the US was founded on irony, a bunch of slave owners that wanted to be free. I am indeed an anarchist, but I don't associate with an anarcho-subgenres because I feel that it contradicts the very meaning of anarchism, kinda like that guy that's telling people to join his anarchist cause. Its a fallacy. And thanks for the link by the way.
@carny426 Also, a friend linked me to the blog post I am linking below. He followed similar reasoning that I did. He's actually talking about Ted Kazynski, who was actually not that crazy. You can find his manifesto on the internet if you wanted to read it.
@carny426 you know what sucks the most? its that the mass of semi consiousness is composed of half as many people in that mass, that think like you and that mass needs you no matter how much it pushes you back... anyways you hate it because that mass does exactly to you what you do to it
@fausimo No what sucks the most is that when you try and help people they spit in your face as a thank you, especially americans, we're the worst. So I quit helping people that I don't think need nor deserve it if anything I'm more liable to throw a bottle at them. I never would have turned my back on the mass if they didn't do it to me first, so fuck em. I can't wait until the country is in chaos and people all along this miserable place starve just so I can see some form of justice.

dat guitar in this song... so difficult to learn -_-
picsmics4 3 months ago
@picsmics4
not really.
kaa3164 3 months ago
@kaa3164 yes really, considering I've picked up playing guitar no less than three weeks ago... :P hey I'm trying.
picsmics4 3 months ago
@picsmics4
Well then it's a pretty hard song.
If I would be talking to myself when I had only played for three weeks I would REEAAALLY recommend learning musicology if you can.
Really try to remember how the notes are set up, how they work on the guitar and how to read them.
Focus on those things and put some effort into it.
I wish I would have been told that so I'm telling you :)
kaa3164 3 months ago
@kaa3164 ah. I will be sure to do that! thanks for your advice. I'll keep practicing :)

carny426 3 months ago
@carny426 Yea....what exactly are you talking about?
GanaLaMana 3 months ago
@GanaLaMana About trying to get the generals on my old post (post = military base) to stop being fucking cock smooches and do the right thing by not sending boys off to die for some punk ass political agenda. But thats just wishful thinking that I know will never come to be.
carny426 2 months ago
@carny426 So you signed up for the military and now regret it? That's kind of your fault.
GanaLaMana 2 months ago
@GanaLaMana No shit Sherlock, But I never said I regreted it. I learned a lot. The only down side is that what I learned turned me into a bitter cynic.
carny426 2 months ago
@carny426 Why be a cynic when you can accept what you know as unchangeable, walk outside & see the roses bloom, and just suck life in. It's like the song says...take a shower & shine your shoes. You got no time to lose. You are young man, you must be living.
GanaLaMana 2 months ago
@GanaLaMana I'm a cynic because I genuinely despise the company of most people. The public is a weak mass of semi conscious drones who I find have no ability to accept reason, logic, or even half way intelligent conversation longer than 15 minutes.
carny426 1 month ago
@carny426 Would it mean anything if I said I can sympathize? I feel outside of society too. Just out of curiosity...what are your general views/beliefs?
GanaLaMana 1 month ago
@GanaLaMana My general views are that of logic and reason, I'm a devout anti-theist, the united states has pulled the plug from the drain bellow and it's just a matter of time before the country is toast. This I think is avoidable, but I don't think that anyone is willing to accept the fact that the american dream is just that, a figment of imagination, the stuff of pipe dreams, and a vastly flawed idea left to open for interpretation. I could go on... and you?
carny426 1 month ago
@carny426 The American Dream is complete interpretation, it's what you think it is. But i don't understand how the American Dream has anything, at all, to do with your so called argument of reason and logic, and the downfall of the United States/
thebeltsquad 1 month ago
@thebeltsquad Thats just it, the american dream tells people that they can do anything and become anything, and they'll strive in order to get to where they percieve, most never get there and are constantly grabbin at it even though logic and reason says it's they can't get it. Instead of being realistic, it makes people strive for mostly a lot of shit that doesn't matter
carny426 1 month ago
@carny426 Look up anarcho-primitvism. Read Ishmael by Daniel Quinn if you want a philosophical understanding. It took me about 4 years and a lot of thinking after turning 17 before I finally came to this conclusion. "Primal Blueprint"- nutrition, "People's History of the US"- busts founding fathers fanatics, "Myth of Mental Illness"- psychology, "Sex At Dawn"- sexuality, etc etc. Everything points to the fact that society has us in captivity! The best life is that of a "Leaver" (Ishmael vocab).
GanaLaMana 1 month ago
@GanaLaMana Couldn't agree more, the US was founded on irony, a bunch of slave owners that wanted to be free. I am indeed an anarchist, but I don't associate with an anarcho-subgenres because I feel that it contradicts the very meaning of anarchism, kinda like that guy that's telling people to join his anarchist cause. Its a fallacy. And thanks for the link by the way.
carny426 1 month ago
@carny426 Also, a friend linked me to the blog post I am linking below. He followed similar reasoning that I did. He's actually talking about Ted Kazynski, who was actually not that crazy. You can find his manifesto on the internet if you wanted to read it.

@carny426 you know what sucks the most? its that the mass of semi consiousness is composed of half as many people in that mass, that think like you and that mass needs you no matter how much it pushes you back... anyways you hate it because that mass does exactly to you what you do to it
fausimo 1 month ago
@fausimo No what sucks the most is that when you try and help people they spit in your face as a thank you, especially americans, we're the worst. So I quit helping people that I don't think need nor deserve it if anything I'm more liable to throw a bottle at them. I never would have turned my back on the mass if they didn't do it to me first, so fuck em. I can't wait until the country is in chaos and people all along this miserable place starve just so I can see some form of justice.
