Shergar was the greatest horse to ever live, no horse in history would be capable of going for home with 4 furlongs to go in the Derby and going miles clear to then be able to ease to an exercise canter for the final furlong and still win by TEN lenghs, Shergar won the Derby, Irish Deby and King George all in the space of about 7 weeks by a combined distance of 22 lenghs slowing to an exercise canter in the final furlong of each race, there is no horse in history who could have beat him

So what Shergar won many big races, the Triple crown in the states is easier anyways, as its only between a 1m and 1m4, were as over here its 1m to 1m6.5 which makes it far more difficult. Nijinsky was the last Colt to pull it off in this country though. Though Oh So Sharp won the fillies equivalent in the 80s. Very few horses take it serious over here its not like the American one, STS had the chance to go for it, but his connections couldnt be bothered with it

Just a small correction - The jockey was Walter Swinburn and not Frankie Dettori. Walter Swinburn was 20 at the time even though he looked much younger.
