Gotta love it. These two are my current favorites. An Irish-American boy from Jersey and a Wessex boy from England. Both with Amazing song writing skills. Keep up the good work lads!
@Farmerjohn21 Can't blame the guy too much for thinking that, a lot of sources claim that the two were the same band and the name changed. The Wikipedia page is pretty ridiculous, Brian read it in an interview in 2010 and just tore it apart.
@piggenator Brian messes up the words to songs all the time, especially covers. and he obviously likes billy bragg enough to know the majority of the words, which is more than most can say.
Seems like they were doing the Too Much Joy version because they were playing the show in New England. Too Much Joy was from NY and the hidden track on '....Finally" (and right after A New England) is Underneath a Jersey Sky - which is a nice connection to Fallon and the boys.
only because brian doesn't know the words and is clearly just having fun! FRICK! I rate Brian over Franky boy anyday of the week,. Like em both though sick vid!
gawd. you can't have a "deeper" voice when you're singing the same song as someone else. they're both singing at the same pitch (apart from when they harmonise).
i'm overjoyed that these two fabulous people at least once shared a stage, and that they were quite so raucous about it :P

@bearawesome This charming man and the Gaslight Anthem are two different bands. the only similarity is Brian Fallon and a few early songs

@tomb1272 Learn to spell. Idiot.
(I hope that wasn't too hard for your incompetent brain to read)
antiwar94 5 months ago
@tomb1272 Maccoll over sang it, if you listen to billy braggs its very low hearted and emotional. thats how the song should have been sang.
I like this version because Brian and Frank have so much heart and emotion, theyre not just good singers

@diegocalderonme Frank Turner is the best singer alive. Screw off, and don't diss people you don't know.
At least learn about him before you say anything about him.

I wish they'd done this in Denver. Other than The Loved Ones, Frank Turner was the only opener that didn't suck.

Frank: We're gonna do some avant-garde shit.
Brian: What does avant-garde mean?
Frank: It means when your haircut's asymmetrical...

Any english musician who doesn't know all the words to 'a new england' is a disgrace to the industry.
frick?
Teessider1990 2 years ago
Fallon isn´t english, he´s from New Jersey. Get your facts before accusing somebody.
Kamikazepit 2 years ago 27
@Kamikazepit actually his dad was from Manchester, so that counts for something. It's sad that I know that...

@BearAwesome and The Gaslight Anthem were originally called This Charming Man, after the Smiths song...
Kilderkin0 7 months ago
Franks just has a naturally loader voice. Fallon's voice is a bit deeper too, most of the gaslight's song are tuned a full step down.
