  • The Kawasaki KZ1000P was the ultimate police bike. Now, it's a toss up, as Kawasaki's new Concours has all sorts of electrical and supply issues from the upfitters, the Hondas have had wobble issues, and start making officers have knee problems from the body positioning, the BMW's are fast smooth bikes, but their high center of gravity and single plate dry clutch kill them in city driving, parades, and cone courses. The Harley Davidson's are the icons, but are slow and bulky. Victory = ugly!

  • Damn these guys have some serious skill to be doing those tight maneuvers on those big heavy bikes.. I couldn't do this shit on a 125...

  • /watch?v=ajOQOPe5Bxs&feature=related

  • Japanese Police bikers will make to guys suicide!:)))

  • Those Beemers are making pork chops out of the Harleys. The Harleys are "cooler" though. Everyone knows cool stops bullets.

  • i like the kz1000 but the bmw is better but i think best would be the ktm 990

  • The BMW is a great motor , but for maintance and from " drop to ride" repairs You can`t beat the Harley . any engine / driveline repairs can be completed within one shift , not days like the metric motors . from oil changes to tire replacement etc . less time on the lift means more equipment on the street . Remember this ,No one police unit has to intercept , they have to keep visual .. nothing is faster than the radio . look at the harely vs the bmw , which one would you want to work on ?

  • The BMW in my view.

  • if an officer pulls me over on a honda im doing to just lol and drive off

  • What makes the best police bike? Being a Harley rider I want to say Harley. But being a cop I can't honestly say it. I'd have to say BMW. BMW our performed Honda and Harley in tests in speed and breaking distance. And being air cooled, the Harley Davidson bikes would over heat in congested city traffic.

  • Throw back to a little old school, the long gone, but not forgotten Kawasaki KZ1000 Police models. Very few changes in the 23 years of post CHiPs production models, low maintenance, lots of availability in parts, so nimble and basic. Mine has 1991 KZ1000P has 80K and still rolling strong!

  • harley how can you let them beat you ... but you did not make a better bike yyyyyy you are going down now y did you not make a fast more drivable bike sad sad sad day for you they see the cash that is comming but you did not are you paying your top guys millions 2 i see

  • harley how can you let them beat you ... but you did not make a better bike yyyyyy you are going down now y did you not make a fast more drivable bike sad sad sad day for you

  • WOW! I would have bet the BMW and Honda were better than the harleys but They are not. The Harleys seem more controlable at low speed the only down side is the floor boards scrape.

  • @keltic185 believe it or not, the floor board scrape is something they actually want to hear.

  • this shit is hard to do.. props

  • thumbs up for youtube ADDS SUCK!!!

  • @kosmosleha Do you want your money back?

  • @halfthrottle don't you?

  • @kosmosleha What money?

  • @halfthrottle Huh?

  • @kosmosleha Exactly.

  • @halfthrottle Win!

  • Notice how they look in the direction they want their bikes to go. Alot of cyclists can learn from this!

  • the powers that be are mad about the maintenance cost that we have accrued after the warranty ran out so they will not even consider BMW again. Myself and my motor partner have looked at the Kawi 1400 and have found that they have an initial cost that is more than the Harley so I think that is what their choice will be

  • @cantonmotors That is an excellent point. I own a BMW GS and want to vomit anytime I think about going to the dealership to have work done. BMW's are stupid expensive to maintain.

  • @halfthrottle KLR

  • I currently ride a 05 BMW for my department and it looks like we are going to be going to Road Kings this fall. We shall see

  • @cantonmotors Seems a little crazy switch to Harley's from BMW's. Most people do that the other way round.

  • check those bikes for gyros... wow i wont ever run from a motorcycle cop on my harley i think id be caught...

  • Be American, Buy American!!

  • @twobanger Yup buy an American bike..................that has Japanese suspension, brakes, electrical hardware, and fueling systems.

  • Remember, Riding a motor other than a HARLEY is like getting a BJ from a F_G it feels good until someone see's you. The only true Police and civilian bike is a Harley. The others are just want-to-be's, mopeds on steroids, with blender motors as engines.

  • are these competitions open to the public to watch?

  • @mitsubishimirage This one was. It was a fund raiser for injured police officers.

  • I just don't like the Honda...sounds like a vacuum.

  • Just flicked by this video and all I have to say is what amazing skills they have, I look at bikes like the Road King, and the big assed FJ's and the Honda VFr's of toaday and think I would fall off them just looking at them. Cool how they make em go so slow and remain upright.

  • i think there is no doubt that the HD is the best looking and sounding bike.. but its manouvrebility is HD style to big and moves like a slug :p but hey, ther arent any turns in the USA so that isnt a problem :D

guzzi v7 is the best bike the have ever had (H)

  • one cop is carrying a gun while the rest are not...

  • i wish the police in my local area would teach classes on how to ride

  • great control good job

  • The BMW's are definitely the best ones in that competition. In Mesa, Arizona I have seen cops driving Kawasaki 1400's

  • Does anyone know where the Utah Motorcops do their training? I live near timp harley and I hardly ever see anyone at this course practising. The cones are removed right after the compitition.

    UtahMotorcyclist.blogspot.com

  • I see a guy on HD without gloves, just bare hands! I know all of them are highly skilled professional riders, but it seems a bit odd. In Japan, I wasn't even allowed to attend rider's training if I wasn't wearing long sleeves, long pants and of course pair of gloves, and a helmet

  • If I get pulled over I would like to at least be able to respect the guy writting me the ticket. Hard to do if he's ridding some little off breed piece of crap. I mostly feel sorry for cops that don't ride harleys

  • @wantitnow1 The Harley's are so much slower than the BMW's and Honda's they had to make a separate class in the competition for them. So you, and all the criminals who hope to get away want the police to ride H-D.

  • @halfthrottle If you're going to make up it as you go, at least make it believable.

  • @ardvarkkkkk1 I filmed this event, there were different categories for the different bikes. The Harley's don't stand a chance against the other bikes, they don't compete against each other because there wouldn't be no competition.

  • @halfthrottle HDs are cult!

  • @wantitnow1 I mostly FEEL SORRY for cops that rides a HARLEY. Vote goes to Honda and BMW.

  • 2 cry out in jealousy because they cannot afford such awesome machines or failed law school.

  • dont get me wrong i love harleys to death but they are over priced pieces of nestalgia. they look and sound cool but that is all you are really getting with a high price tag. oo and an expensive tool kit :P. it took harly forever before they started using belts instead of chains and they still dont ahve a production shaft drive yet.... a bit pathetic really. typical american market, "you dont know what you want, ill tell you what you want!"

  • this is a very cool video.. hopefully that police officers in my country capable to do such things...

  • So cops driving around in just t-shirts can legally book people that drive dangerously?

  • the best police bikes: Kawasaki Kz1000p & Honda ST1300

  • very cool

  • I was almost too mesmerized to hit "like"

  • They should make the BMW F800GS a police bike. It has the capabilities to go off road and it is fast enough and comfortable enough to go 80+ mph all day on the highway.

  • @steveincairo I imagine they are out there, I have seen G650GS police bikes used to patrol the foothills around Utah.

  • @halfthrottle Yeah, the BMW definitely wins this, with the best ground clearance, and such a nice sound, I love the BMW motorbike, but I think they should make the BMW R1200GS Adventure a police motorbike, Here in the UK the BMW motorbike is used by the police, and it is so beautiful, the Honda, the paramedics use, both amazing machines, I like the Honda as well, its really agile, but the sound, puts me off it

  • @HMSDaring1 I could barely Hear the BMW, But that and the St1300 are now going to be the choice for the police force because of their lower maintenance costs, Quietness, maneuverability, and POWER! the harley makes more noise but doesn't nearly compare to the others in terms of output. It's just the cop bike of the future.

  • Harley says Peace Officer, the others feel more like Police

  • The next time they do the motorcycle rodeo Im going to try it on my wifes suzuki gs500F and then on a ninja 250.....lol See if I can beat it then

  • ok just to give an idea how hard this is to do, Im a very expierenced rider been riding for 14yrs. When they had the motorcycle rodeo here just recently I tried to run it on my GSXR600 and on my V-Strom and could not do it. Im truly amazed that they do it on some of the largest and heavist bike in production....you motor officers truly rock!

  • One thing I will admit, every one of these riders, despite the bike, are very good. Kudos to all the riders. But I can't help notice that the big Harleys, when tightly turning, the rider's arms are fully extended and even reaching. Seems to me that the BMW and Honda are the way to go. Another mark goes to Honda, as there is something to say for the smoothness of a 4-banger, and the ability to listen to your headset. Back to my main point, good job to the riders.

  • notice they dont throw them big harleys around as fast as they do them cruisers

  • in my eyes the honda faces the best uses for the police driver, looks new and helps to turn the bike sure and effectively. the harleys makes the better sounds, of course.

  • HD's are for sure the most suitable police motorcycles for the american roads...but i think the most flexible and right motorcycle is the bmw...

  • @JimarasVidi Why for sure? What do they do that the others don't (except fulfill some kind of patriottic desire to ride a real US bike)? I don't think there are any police departments outside of the US using Harleys these days, they are all using BMW's, Yama FJ's, Honda Pan's, Kawa GTR's etc. Not classically styled cruisers that have low ground clearance because that is how it was done 50 yrs ago.

  • Gotta admit the Harleys sure look and sound a lot cooler that the scooters do. I think IF I were to be pulled over I would rather be pulled over by a motorcycle than a scooter.

  • @matrox And IF you were trying to get away from the motorcycle/scooter pulling you over, you would also prefer the Harley.

  • Love this

As a Medical Despatch Rider here in the UK, I've been using the older BMW K1100LT (still used by the police here).

And as wide as it is, I have to say I love it, it's great for filtering through traffic, the amount of times I've been held up by a moped filtering in front - it's annoying! I'll have to get a camera because most of my mates don't believe me, lol.

I was thinking of selling that bike, but I might keep it now I've seen this vid, lol, I'll go practise some manoeuvres now ;)

  • @MadStu When I was filming this I wanted to be riding that course so bad. I'm sure I would have taken out a world record number of cones, but it does look like a lot of fun.

  • The honda sounds the neatest. Wheeeeez

  • @trimzulu I actually asked if the Honda had a turbo charger, but it doesn't the exhaust just makes a sound like it does.

  • We're seeing a mix of classes in this collage of videos. So much also depends on rider skill and experience in competitions. GREAT video footage and EDITING here! Kudos!

  • Thats why they catch everybody, their bad ass riders, JUST PULL OVER WHEN YOU SEE THE LIGHTS- BITCHES, you know your caught, HAHAHAHAHA

  • what police motorcycle is the best? of course the harley davidson

  • which Bike handles best? it's not the Bike / it's the training the Riders had. great vid - Thanks for posting.

  • @1further

    yes got training

  • probably the Honda. Kawasaki should have never stopped production of the KZ1000P.... there was a police bike

  • they need clown costumes

  • Comment removed

  • bmw

  • Quoting one local LEO: "The Honda doesn't vibrate off it's kickstand during a traffic stop". Jurie's out on the C14, they haven't been in service long enough to know how they'll hold up.

  • Honda makes the better motorcycle for the intended purpose between Honda and HD. Cheaper to purchase, cheaper to maintain and quicker than HD.

  • @chechnya

yes but hd sound nice and it look gd

  • Kawasaki has a police model of the C14, i would take that over all the others :)

  • Nice vid!

  • i like the apperance and capibility of Honda. Hondas and BMW's have raised rear ends so they can make sharp turns.

  • I'll take the BMW....

  • I still prefer the Harley PD bikes, but there is no doubt the ability of the BMW. I still go out into parking lots and do "drills" ... dont get my wrong i love the open road, but object avoidance and slow speed handling go a long way.... even if I get really funny looks from other bikers (feel sorry for them when they need the skill)

  • Good ol' Harley FTW!

  • Damn, I finally took my MSF this weekend which wasn't bad but this looks like a real bitch lol. Very good riders

  • By watching the performance here, gotta say the BMW's are superior based on demonstrated events. It looks like it would be a challenge to ride a harley on these courses.

  • The BMW's and Harley's are in different classes. They don't compete against each other. Even the Road Kings, and Electro Glides were in separate classes.

  • I can totally see why. Looks like a blast to do though. That some pretty good riding. I would show up on an old Indian just so I could have my own class and dominate it! LOLZ.

  • Yeah filming these guys made me want to try the course so bad. I'm sure I would have taken out a world record amount of cones. But it would have been a blast!

  • The beemers are nice but I got to say, I LOVE the Harleys

  • Harley's look and sound great. But as far as safety, speed, functionality, and reliability goes; it's the BMW R1200RT no contest.

  • This is where Brian was at on Saturday and he did really good. I was impressed. There were several other events as well, he had a good time.

  • Damn I wish I could ride like this. Guys are pretty good.

  • I've been visiting empty parking lots since this event practicing slow turns and figure 8's.

  • Looks good. Enjoyed watching that.
