The list of priorities is the first time I've heard that. Others have eluded to it, but you're the first to explicitly state "go from shape/lines to value, then edges." Most speedpaintings I've seen make everything look either very difficult or very easy (but impossible for me); you actually make me feel like I could do something like this. You also remind me that having form is more important than perfect subject drawing. I loved your commentary while doing this painting. Thank you

@idrawgirls ..I was thinking the same thing..:) ..hey I wanted to ask..(this may be a beginner question)..but I use photoshop to paint..do you put your colors down on a separate layer and turn it into a color layer?..when I color in the same layer It just goes over my original line work even with low opacity.

Your technique is awesome and pretty unique. Only Feng Zhu is using a similiar technique, but he is more focused into opacity setups. By the way, are you still in business? Because I somewhere read that you "retired".

@RiffInvader A lot of professional concept artists use similar technique. Feng is awesome, I was just starting out when I met him at NCsoft and ArenaNet back in the the day. Lol, it is a rumor but kind of true. I am working on a secret project. ;-)

XIA, do you ever have issues being able to listen to music via winamp or some other program while using photoshop AND camtasia? That is to assume you use camtasia haha. I wasn't having any issues the other day recording a painting and now when i place the pen down it only sets one dot. When I close camtasia it works fine. Maybe I need to set the programs to different CPU cores via affinity? Any thoughts?

Hi Xia, what is your opinion on display tablet (the pen tablet based on a monitor).

They are usually too expensive, the 21" from wacom costs $2000!

An digital artist at what stage should use this type of tablet? Do you recommend art students to purchase this type of tablets?

I'm having a hard time with the colour. I do the values first as best as I can, followed by the colour on another layer set on overlay, I then merge the two layers together, but struggle to continue from there; trying to blend one colour to another and then I face inccorect proportions =/ (I can fix the latter, but can you help me out with the first?)
