SICK!love the video, unfortunately the elitists wont be able to fly like this anymore because of a 74 yr old man blacked out and crash into the spectators G-LOC. Just like NASCAR, AIr racing is done, you won't be able to buy your way back in this time, sorry, but true
@CaptainRon1913 F U ???, I scraped up these elitists off highways, by-ways and your driveway, next time when you make a comment, have some balls, be a man a speak with intention, when you put in the words FU as you hide behind your monitor, you show how much of a pussy you are, guaranteed you wouldn't be so blatant with your words in front of me.
@CaptainRon1913 a 5th grader... did i say FU to you? No you did, I stayed on point and obviously it stuck you right where it hurts, take it like a man or just throw away your computer, either way, calling one a 5th grader when you don't know who you are talking to, shows pure ignorance on your part, so go eat some dirty undies while your at it! Done with you!
That was an awesome video. I think the point is lost on some who criticize the filming. I liked how you showed the other planes and shadows as well as the terrain. I go to those air races every year and love it. Thanks for posting.
Have these pilots received training for flying in formation, or do they just learn right as the race begins? It is incredible what these planes do. Do these have ejection seats?
This is an awesome video. But man you totally suck at filming, I would of much rather seen where you where flying, like looking forward. No no, you had to film almost the whole time the planes flying beside you. Very let down on this, this vid would be so much more cool if you had forward shots more.
The rattling sound is the G-suit pump in the rear cockpit. It activates when the plane pulls more than 2.5G. The hissing with each pump in this case means that there is probably no suit connected to it, and the air is simply being pumped into the cockpit. The connection is on the left side of the seat, close to the camera, so it's quite loud.
Thank you, I was curious about that and I was about to ask. I thought maybe it was some kind of stall warning but when I think about it I doubt a plane going that fast is going to get a very high AOA even if they are pulling hard on the stick.
@geddon436 I have spent quite a bit of time around L-39's and unless this one has been modified then "Yes" they are hot and "Yes" they would function!
Negative. the class is limited to non-afterburning jets with less than 15° of wing sweep - aircraft like the Fouga Magister, North American T-2 Buckeye, Lockheed T-33, etc.
Fairly certain that's the G-suit pump in the back seat, without a G-suit plugged into it. They're fairly noisy and you'll notice it only comes on during harder turns, 3G+.

The Funeral March by Chopin would be the proper background music there!
Can you say- ASKING for it??
Death at 50 feet for fools who aren't qualified to fly this close to one another- and- being wealthy doctors, lawyers, etc. won't excuse them from getting slashed by the Grim Reapers' sickle!
The pilots are almost all ex military or otherwise well qualified pilots, not doctors and lawyers. They know what they're doing, they aren't idiots with too much money who bought jets off of ebay. And even so, rather have fun in you life a live short that live forever with no excitement.
Yeah, but what youre saying here is that only the ex-military guys could fly things like that. Thats BS, as I know a guy (he's a CEO) who owns his own jet and he's very skillfull. You're saying that doctors and lawyers who want to be like james bond buy a jet over GPS or so and fly it. But most of them are just as passionate and motivated to fly that thing as a air force pilot. You're profession doesn't justifie your skill.
I was replying to the comment that all the people who fly in the jet class at reno where dumbass rich doctors and lawyers. I didn't express myself right, but I believe that anyone who is qualified and skilled enough for this type of flying should go for it if it's their passion and what they love doing.
what business is it of yours? you don't race aeroplanes, and thus have nothing to fear.
i think it's an unbelievably dangerous sport, and i admire the people who participate, for their courage, recklessness, and even, dare i say it, i admire their stupidity.
let boys be boys. yes they ask for it, because that's just what boys do.
and everybody dies, my friend, and that man was saved the humiliation of growing old, living at a nursing home, and needing his diaper changed.
Does the guy in the rear have an official function in any of the 2 seaters at Reno; or is he just along for the ride...? And is there an "air boss" on orbit to keep everyone on their best behavior..?
This was shot during a Pylon Racing Seminar, a training and pilot qualification event held in June. During the races, no backseaters are allowed for obvious reasons. There is a Pace/Safety aircraft orbiting above, but they don't act as an airboss unless a racer has a problem and needs help.
totally crazy, you have to have a screw loose to do this, I am a pilot who flys aerobatics and this is pushing it. After watching this video it is pretty obvious an accident was going to happen. Flying this close to people you don't train with?? At .63 mach??
oh ok. now i know what you're talking about. Kind of sounds like the discruption in airflow from high gs is causing the compressor to buffet like that. maybe. haha
Our anti-g systems don't make this sound. It fills up at a rate proportional to the Gs and rate of Gs you pull. The g-suit valve is basically a spring-loaded, weighted stopper that opens the flow of bleed air as the Gs pull the valve down. The faster you pull, the faster the g-suit inflates - it's not like an on/off function.
I still think it's an over-speed warning, but am not too familiar with them being on non-commercial types.
zero airspeed = no airflow over the wings = no lift unless your prop hangining or some toher manuver (mostly dont in 3d rc) or unless your reffering to helis... :S

Sounds like an over-speed warning....not the stall warning. I don't think they'd be pulling that hard considering the amount of energy they'd loose.
contrail25 4 years ago
Hi!
This sound is from the Anti-G system operated by compressed air. If you don't have a connected G-suite sounds like this.
The system operates if the G-load more than 2g. At the left rear side of the cockpit there is a two position valve for different G-suite.
i.i.
csernyi 4 years ago
