This shows the general hypocricy of US foreign policy which does not command respect and that is why others came to join the fight. US foreign policy creates enemies not friends-Everything else you describe is still happening even in close US allies like Egypt, Saudi Arabia Turkey etc and yet I do not hear the US threatening to invade unless it is stopped.

The only enemy in this case is the government that sent them there. Iraq and Afghanistan were in no way connected to 9/11, AlQaeda is NOT an organization, but a list of people that the CIA had with people THEY could use for subversive actions and intrigues in the Arab world.

The commonality is simple enough. Most countries don't have anything near what you as an American grew up knowing. That is, Americans typically believe in fairness. Of course there are exceptions, but in general that's the essence of it.
