  • I love the amp but I am wonder how much extra is it because it has Slash's name on it?

  • check out my bluesy afd100 demo!!

  • Kick ass amp if you ask me. I was testing it out at the guitar shop and really liked it, especially on the AFD setting. I was trying the EVH 50 watt head as well and though it had loads of gain even on just the crunch channel, I thought the Marshall had more character to it. The self attenuation makes a big difference as well. The Marshall YJM was very nice as well, and I'm not even a big Yngwie fan.

  • I never understood why amp companies never put attenuators in their amps?!?!

I have played guitar for 15 years, and have never "Needed" 100 watts, but I have always wanted "TUBE TONE" in my bed room. Every amp should now see what Marshall is doing, and start building in attenuators into all their amps.

  • @ESPsandEmgs Actually Marshall lifted the London Power Power Scaling circuit. Marshall always copied existing circuits so why stop now.

Go to the London Power website and learn about what really goes in to tube amp design. Kevin O'Connor is one of "the" key amp men.

Check out Fargin amps and Stephensons Amps too! They do license Power Scaling unlike Marshall.

Glad to see Power Scaling is now reaching the masses as it does indeed stop hearing loss without giving up the melting cranked sound.

  • why does slash get signiture everythings all the time? I want a tom morello signitrue guitar and a jimi hendrix signiture amp and strat

  • @PerplexTV1 jimi has a signature amp yet

  • @PerplexTV1

Slash is pretty popular right now so I guess that will make them more money.

Also, the hendrix signature amp is the 100jh and it smokes the afd in tone.

  • 3:30 for when he starts playing

  • I love the distrorted sound but the clean sounds shitty :( Only beacouse there is no good clean channel i wont buy it :(

  • @nelsonmisiek Well that's stupid. Plus I doubt you'd be able to find one for sale anyway.

  • This guys and the guys who drive the ferraris to test them have the best job in the world!

  • Does anyone elses brain hurt from this video? Purely for the fact he is left handed...

  • getting this amp before christmas \m/

  • Why was there a lot of mystery about the original amp?? was Slash that fucked up he couldnt remember what kinda amp he played??? or did the studio not tell him what he was playing through???

  • ohh yes he will be mine!!! but not in the next 2 months :D

  • Anyone know what Cabinet he's using?

  • @LtSweeting looks like a 1960b

  • @LtSweeting Without knowing what speakers are in the cab, this demo is almost worthless. Whatever they are, it sounds right. It should be mandatory to say what speakers are used in any video like this.

  • My amp kind of buzzes alot.. I was wondering what fellow owners of the amp are doing or if they have the same problem.

  • @GNRSDF774 Cables. Check them first.

  • If you ask me Slash and all of his guitar techs that worked with him up to the point the idiot took back his real Marshall head used on Apetite are IDIOTS. Why if you know you have an amp thats special, you haven't played others that sound ANYTHING like it, (I think it was just a modded marshall aiming at early Van Halen Tone) Why would you not open it up and have a tech write out a simple schematic of what it is and what mod was done. The old Plexi's are VERY simple.

  • @willeng84 Because it was stolen right after the album was done.

  • @Gabriopunk77 He toured with it and it wasn't stolen. He had toured with it and I believe had hired in some new techs, the head was rented from a local shop in California and was never returned thats how Slash got the head, it was a loaner and he kept it. One of the new techs saw a Property of ----------- Music Store or a rented sticker, anyway he returned it and Slash didn't know till it was a done deal.

  • @willeng84 so very, very true

  • @willeng84 The reason why they didn't was simple. They were all high.

  • @willeng84 Cause Slash lost the amp and never found it :(

  • I'd do some weird things with a donkey and some whipped cream to have this amp

  • The problem is that he NEVER played anything Slash on a Slash amp !!

  • @RocketQueenBand201 he can't for legal reasons apperantly,,,,,

  • It stilll never got very clean at all. I do like a little hair on my clean, like a cranked Fender sound. I am trying to narrow it down between an 800 or a Marshall Vintage/Modern 2266 50 watt Head. Which either one have a better clean sound than this.

  • this dude is a jerk.....

  • @KORINALOVER

Chris is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet

  • What this guy did is use the same tone settings for both modes. The #34 mode sounds like a wah pedal in "full treble" toe-down position. Obviously the tone controls are needed to get rid of some of that piercing treble.

  • Comment removed

  • Very beautiful sound but....I think it was a processed sound took by microphone. It's not real sound we heard from the cabinet

  • @castless thats what the afd sound is aswell, just not with computers with outboard gear and eq on the desk

  • Sounds pretty fucking good. Who doesn't like this amp he doesn't like ROCK.. Simply the best sound of Marshall amp during decades is real now. Thanks Marshall and Slash.

  • I have a Silver Jubilee 2554. Great amp, pretty much gets a good Slash tone, not quite AFD, but pretty close. Plus I can get a good clean tone. Simplicity is always good, I like the look of this AFD100.

  • Wo Wo Woo,! Sounds good here on demo, but I played this at guitar center and was EASILY" not impressed!!.Was warm" and thats about it!!. I"ll take a 800 or Jubilee" over one of these any day!. Another fact for ALL" you tone snobs(Including ME!) is, I can get this and any tone out of My ROCKTRON PIRAHNA or my DIGITECH 2120!!. Fact "IS" these are all Dinasouar amps that have far been superseded by TECHNOLEGY!...Unless your just wanting to look cool and Retro"???

  • @dewycatt2112 If you think you Digitech can replicate accurately pure tube tones... well then obviously this amp is not for you. I use to have a digitech rack (still around somewhere) and boy nothing beats a tube amp.

  • I wish they would make this as an unlimited run like the Kerry King heads.

  • @007theAlien Dude,I own a Kerry King Head, and as far as I know they are NO longer available! I get people begging me to sell them mine for TWICE the cost!

  • left handed?

  • Mother fuckers! Marshall stole my idea! Built in attenuator in a tube amp! FUCK!

  • THis would make a good thrash amp I mean it replicates the sound of appettite of destruction even tho GNR isn't trash just listen to the bite and punch it pushes out I wonder how eargasmic it would sound boosted with a boss sd-1 or tube screamer

  • come on man, juuuust geeet it staaarted

  • Wow, Olie23231 is about the biggest tool I've ever read on here. Billy Corgan, EVH, or Eric Clapton could plug into this amp and sound like themselves. A sig amp is about getting a sound you like and writing music with it. Many people think a JCM 900 sucks, yet you think it is better than this amp. So if this was named a JCM 950 this would be an OK amp for people to buy? Idiot.

  • @Wryncgirs If you were a self respected musician you wouldn't buy signature equipment that affects your sound a great deal. You build up sound over time and grow as a musician. These amps basically just allow kids to go straight into sounding like slash and they won't learn anything about sound.

  • Does this come with the cab?

  • @insidemarshall PLEASE ANSWER. Where is Chris George from? Accent sounds like northern british isles, almost scottish sometimes...yorkshire?

  • Chris George should really learn a second scale...

  • I played it, and it's not really that bad. I still dig my DSL 100 cause the clean channel is so dynamic and ALIVE! Plus the DSL has the Deep switch which really brings out the bottom end and that lower midrange which fattens up the sound. When I use the H&K Tube factor, the overdrive is out of this world.

  • 4:53 Best Tone from a Marshall I've ever heard.

  • One of the best amps money can buy!

  • FInally this guy used a regular guitar, not he random "one of a kind" Emg loaded guitar.

  • @davidcruz141 his other guitars have dimarzio pickups, not emg...even though its hard to tell the difference, but believe me i was right in front of him a few weeks ago ;)

  • why don't you play some guns n roses? it would be much better....

  • @sanandriasforlife copy rights :X

  • @aiween1 dude, that sucks...

  • @sanandriasforlife he probably can't, legally because of copyright issues. But it'd be nice to hear. There's another demo he did where it sounds a lot more like GnR.

  • i like it but its sad that people are ablöe to buy "slashs sound"...

  • iv got a marshall JVM. that amp has 12 channels! but still it cant quite reach this awesome tone. if any marshall could then the JVM would but the AFD100 has hit the nail on the head for sure, anyoen who disagrees is wrong and can go back to failing at music

  • @hongkongbannanas no way, u can get way better tones out of the jvm, Ive played one at a local guitar store and i hated it, id even get a vintage modern over this thing, u must be a slash fan to think there got this one right. If u want an better that gets its distortion from the power tubes, get a yjm plexi or the marshall vm

  • @DylanB003 its down to preference. i am a slash fan searching for the slash tone. i wudnt get this amp myself due to the lack of a clean channel and also the limited amount of sounds available. when i play with my band i use a tone that you probably couldnt get out of the afd100 but still i think if you are after the afd tone then this is the amp for it.

  • lefty = head hurty

  • My cat just jumped at my AFD while it was on the top of my 4x12 it slid backwards on to a shelf and then fell down the back on to a hard floor! ripping the leads out the back, crunch, i pluged it in and it works fine! not a mark on it either, built to be roadie proof i think!

  • best amp ever

  • Does someone know a pedal that can give me that tone ?

  • @grooveinthestate Boss OD3 and a Hellbender

  • @andrewkadar yep for the hellbender but for the boss ... not really sure. Thanks man ! i have to try the wampler plextortion too.

  • @grooveinthestate i meant if you put the od3 before the hellbender you can overdrive the hellbender to get more gain for lead, the wampler aint bad either

  • I don't understand this amp. Yeah, it's got an unbelievably killer tone, full stop. But I'm not paying 3 grand for an amp that doesn't have some kind of clean tone. Not that Marshall clean is every really anything to write home about. THAT'S NOT A BASH ON MARSHALL before you all get mad. This is a cool concept, Marshall crunch and high gain at it's very best! But no clean? Appetite has clean guitar somewhere doesn't it?

  • Listen to it hiss! :\

  • seperate volumes for the 2 channels I hope ?

  • Sounds pretty amazing and id love to have one, but id never buy a amp which has no option to have a totally clean tone, seems very limiting. Unless ofcourse you have the cash to buy this and a fender amp for your clean tone.

  • @davek71 Or get a POD or tonelab to get more tones and have some clean presets.

  • @diablo9333

which sound fake, electronic, and arent even nearly as good.

  • @jimamundo I have a tonelab and it actually is a ton better than the pod. It doesn't sound electronic at all because it uses tubes in it. You can actually get some pretty half decent sounds out of it as well.

  • @diablo9333

maybe so, but theyre not as good as a real marshall stack. dont even TRY to argue, theyre just not.

  • @jimamundo I didn't even say it was better than a marshall but here is what you commented "no option for a clean tone so it seems very limiting". All I was suggesting was that if you want a clean tone would be to get a tonelab. Then you could get the afd100 and have nothing to complain about.

  • @diablo9333 the Tonelab has a single 12ax7 in it...doesn't really mean anything...

  • @theflatearthsociety Yeah so? I was speaking about clean tones. I own it and love it.

  • @davek71 +!

  • @theflatearthsociety I was referring to you saying that the ToneLab has tubes in it...one 12ax7 isn't really going to do anything. I have a ValveTronix (similar circuit) and it's great, I wasn't trying to hate.

  • real men wear shirts with glitter on them

  • @Pianoblacks haha! i hope youre kidding!! its like the douch bag costume.

  • Is that power control like a PPIMV? How does it have a built-in power attenuation without taking from the power stage? A tech told me extra volume or wattage cutters built into the amo really just jack up the preamp stage and still doesn't let the master (power stage) drive hard.

  • It's always entertaining to hear all the losers bashing something new that comes out. The fact is, this is THE BEST Marshall that has come out in decades. Just because its a sig head means nothing! When I get my head its mine, not slash's. Therefore it is my sound coming out of it not his. I also love it when some idiot says something like, "I can get the same sound out of my $100 Piece O Shit . You sir, just FAIL! For the rest of us that have some brains, ROCK ON!

  • @millavanhalen Amen bro!! I hate buying sig gear(except for Les Pauls of course)but this AFD100 sounds amazing. It truly is the best amp Marshall has released in years.

  • The best Marshall ever made is the JCM Slash. In my humble opinion. Yes I know it's a silver jub, but I prefer the way the Slash looks.

  • @millavanhalen

Bro so freakin well put. I am buying this amp and will run it with my Dual Recto to do all my solos out of it. Cause the tone is freaking amazing. Not because it has Slashes name on it. ROCK ON!!!

  • @millavanhalen What if I said I could get the same sound out of my Mesa Boogie Mark V? Haha, just kiddin. I tested this amp and it was great fun, I liked it.

  • @nbcviper I have a Mark V and I love it but I can't really get it to sound like the AFD though. If I could only have one amp I'd keep the Mark V because it does a lot of legendary tones in one amp.

  • @millavanhalen I'll post a video of my tone and tell me what you think.

  • @millavanhalen Its not your sound at all, it's slashes sound. Want a real sound then get a real amp that means something and is significant to you as a musician.

  • @Olie23231 You must be one of those insanely talented people who builds all their own gear. Wait... no, more likely one of those people whose "own sound" sucks so bad that no one on earth would use it. By the way, I have 5 other high end tubes amps that I can combine sound with my Mesa high gain switcher. So "Whatever, you FAIL".

  • @millavanhalen I actually make the effort to get off my arse and make a sound for myself instead of harnessing comeone elses that has been mass produced by a sell-out guitarist. These amps are the reason kids these days have no musical imagination. Its the exact same reason self respecting guitarists like Josh Homme tell very little about what gear they use, and bravo, you sound like a puffed up ten year old

  • @Olie23231 You must be the ten year old. Why else would you be on this video posting comments if you are such a signature hater? Maybe I just like the sound of the amp and I don't care whose name is on it, unlike an ego manic like yourself who can't stand it if someone comes up with a product they can sell and happens to put their name on it. GET OVER IT!

  • @millavanhalen They put their name on it because they have no other interesting aspect anymore, so in slash's case he has decided to sell off every aspect of himself because no-one really cares about him anymore. Being a musician isn't about going and picking up someone elses amp and sounding like another artist, it's about building yourself up to be unique using equipment you've found yourself with a shit load of electro harmonix / mad professor pedals and some old little tube amps etc

  • @Olie23231 Maybe you are right, I should just throw away my Bogner and my Soldano because those have someone else's last name on them. Everyone should also throw away their Les Pauls because that's his guitar we can't use them because they are not ours. I mean, if you are so arrogant that you think that you are using a sound that no one else has ever used before with all the people that play or have played guitar on this planet, well, go figure it out!

  • @millavanhalen When it's guitars you can make them sound however you want, as they can be modified via amplification, amps however restrict and mould the sound produced a vast amount, therefore signature equipment restricts your sound. People shouldn't want to sound like other artists, they should want to sound like themselves! Do you think slash went out and bought a signature amp? And when slash first picked up a les paul no-one else in that scene was playing them

  • @Olie23231 Not everyone is trying to copy someones else's tone. To me if someone says I'm looking for and AFD tone its just an easy way to convey a sound in words. If I have heard the album I can then go "oh yea, I know what you're looking for". But it doesn't really mean the person is trying to copy it exactly. It's hard to convey a sound in words to someone else. I bought this head to do classic rock tones like Kix, Dokken, early EVH etc but not to duplicate them exactly.

  • @millavanhalen I get your point and I get how people buy it for a classic tone but I still think it restricts you a fair amount for the money compared to what you could buy. I think too many people jump straight at marshall these days, they should look at Vox, Orange, Mesa Boogie, Hayden etc

  • @millavanhalen Also in the likes of the les paul and other signature guitars, they are inventions, slash's guitars and amps are simply other pieces of equipment with other modifications, which is also reason to just buy a standard (better) marshall such as the jcm 900 instead of this, or not buy a marshall at all and go for something much much better

  • @Olie23231

hey how about you fucking worry about yourself not whether someone buys this amp and "copies slash's sound". this is a badass amp and tone comes from your guitar and fingers as well. this amp sounds badass and probably could cover slash territory very well but to be honest the guy demoing the amp does not sound like slash at all in my opinion which just goes to show there is more than the amp as far as tone is concerned. phrasing, and technique dictate a lot as far as tone goes.

  • @thuglyfe91332 I don't see why anyone would want that this amp if tone is all that it gives you. A slash like tone is not a tone of his own indeed but why buy an amp for a tone so restricting and boring? The type of people that bum this amp are the 13 year old guitarists who think that slash is the best guitarist on the planet. They wouldn't even dream of trying to find out what kind of equipment great guitarists like john frusciante use, It's sad

  • @Olie23231 now let me stop you right there, first of all, a Marshall Amplifier is one of the most common amps used by famous guitarists; Jimmy Page, Billy Gibbons, Slash (as you said), etc... simply because they amplify the best tone out there. A Marshall's Tone is no where near 'Boring or restricting'. If a kid at 13 years old wants to buy a Marshall amp, their making a great choice. Who cares if they want to 'Copy' slash? The Money you spend on this amp is well worth it.

  • @Puffmaster66 Then kids should go and buy a JCM 900 etc. They should look at what slash actually used on the tracks/albums they like the most and then go from that to explore the tone more. The only people that would but this are the kids that can't be arsed doing anything themselves and just want to sound like slash. People like me care, because more of this is happening and more and more kids are just losing their imagination when it comes to music because artists give everything on a plate

  • @Olie23231

honestly with your logic buying slash's signature amp and buying all of john frusciante's equipment would essentially be the same thing. wouldnt they both be buying someone's tone basically? reguardless this amp is badass and as far as "restricting" tone this amp is pretty versatile disregarding the fact that it doesnt do cleans well. its way more versatile than a JCM 800 which is probably one of the most popular and sworn by amps ever made even though its definitely a 1 trick pony

  • @thuglyfe91332 I don't buy any of john's equipment, just no-one seems to give him the recognition for being one of the greatest guitarists on the planet, and i personally feel he is the best on the planet. And if it's tone you want buy a vox ac30 or a hiwatt or a hayden or a fender, there are far more better amps that have more versatility and better tone.

  • @Olie23231

    its all subjective man..

  • @millavanhalen Right!? It not the amp, its the player! :D

  • @millavanhalen

Yeah, and people forget that all Marshall's are already sig amps. They're signed by Marshall himself. Fuck off you loosers.

  • It dosent seem very versitile. It sound like it would be great for anyone looking to starts a GNR cover band, but I'm curious to find out what else it could do. I'm not trashing it, I just wish I could find a demo that dosent just show the GNR sounds.

  • @Noneedforaname97 well thats what it is for people trying to get that sound i think it sounds awsome

  • Sorry, but I 've been reducing the volume of my Marshall amps for years with the return level of a later inserted fx loop ... this is anything new - except for Marshall?

  • JCM 800 alway the best.

  • /sign

  • @Packy11920 Agreed.

  • @Packy11920 Not this time mate, here you got the plexi thing going on and the 800 usable at max crancking levels. Sometimes we have to accept new things can be better, this is one of those moments.

  • This is an amazing amplifier but i think that it is too overpriced, i know some people are gonna reply to this comment and say no shit is a signature but i think you can get a similar sound on a marshall mg 100fx half stack.

  • @metalshredder14 lies sir, lies.

  • @JeremyMoar i didnt say you could get the exact sound did i? i said a similar tone.

  • Dear brother demonstrator..Please please please in demos after this do one simple thing "turn down the guitar volume when playing" so we can hear what happens. No one turns down their amp gain during a performance everyone turns down their guitar volume.. how does the amp clean up is what we want to know. Otherwise nice demo.. Thanks

  • does this amp play clean? realy clean like having a clean channel. i play lots of clean stuff

  • @slashmalmsteen its not crystal clean like a fender... but you can get clean if you turn the guitar vol back and use lower output pickups.

  • which marshall cabinet are u using

  • Comment removed

  • juicy :)

  • what speakers are in the cab?

  • @goerge4 Probably the G12T-75s

  • Comment removed

  • I could get this sound with a jcm 800 4104 at the volume at 1 or 2!!! I still wanna try to get one

  • @joshua0226 To Everyone Posting That They "Get The Same Tone With Their Amp" Upload A Vid Or STFU :)

  • @djhawkster yooo calm down just sayin this is probably gonna be 20000000$ dollars

  • @joshua0226 That's the thing about marshall. They slap 2-3k price tags on shit you can get for 800..

  • The amp sounds great. Well done!

  • sounds like slash and acdc blended together :D i woould give anything for one

  • What cab are you using?

  • Pickin mine up in an hour! So fuckin excited, what an xmas present!!!!!!!!

  • as much as I like Slash, which is alot,I dont think I'll ever get this let alone afford it. Maybe as a collector or an enthusiast I would but for someone who wants to play professionally and pursue it as a career...I'd rather find my own sound.

  • wud u mind giving me one for free?? OJ lol. Sounds perfect well done slash and Marshall!

  • please get another player for doing this demo!!!

  • @psofoss yeah he's tripping me out with his left-handed playing

  • I better get saving those pennys

  • if you're going to play... PLAY!!!!

  • This Amps Rock as is Owner....)))°°°++++

  • The explanation of the amp's features was great but the playing was pretty boring. I don't get why he does'nt play any GNR songs if he is demonstrating the amp that is supposed to sound like the one slash used for Appetite for destruction

  • Sounds awesome man but you might as well have a trusty JCM800 which is basically what slash had in the 80's man,

& it gives you the chance to make your own sound if you dont wanna' sound like the big man yourself.

  • he recorded appetite with a modded plexi. The reason marshall made this amp was because no one seemed to be able to duplicate the mod.

  • .....'leave slash's afd to slash'....Hilarious - and I'm sure Marshall would be thrilled to hear you say it.Lol

  • INSANE!!! But still prefer my JVM ;-)

  • Comment removed

  • hey bro your good but leave slash's afd to slash

  • The POWER control is maintaining treble and harmonics even at severe attenuation.....that's awesome. Amp sounds great

  • nice earrings bro

  • I want this amp :)

  • third?

  • i know everyone hates this but i'm first to watch and comment in this video. suck it

  • @the59gibsonlespaul Gratz. I nearly was.
