@Angel48rules The farther you get away from true chromakey green, the more difficult it will be to key out. An olive green may be too similar to skin pigment of your actors, and though it may not look like it to the naked eye, your camera may pick it up and so may your editor. I would stay away from that shade.

@LaurenSparkleBlossom It will be tough, for sure, but if you keep the lighting even along the greenscreen, and be sure to have separate lighting for your subjects, then you should get an okay key.

@fanjomo I would say go with a Blue Screen. ;) Honestly, without advanced editing techniques and programs, there's very little you can do about that issue. The best and easiest solution is to either shoot with a different color backdrop (the most popular secondary color to Green is Blue) or change your shirt.

Hmm. I haven't heard of that problem.  Usually keying problems are because your subject is wearing green or because they're too close to the screen. If those aren't the issues, you might want to check out the Vegas website to see if they have any help specifically for that problem.

Im using vegas pro 10 with bcc plug in, and every time I go to key somthing there is a square of the green screen about one inch by one inch behind my subject that isn't bieng keyed out in my preview window. everything else is keyed out...except for this one small square (its 1'' x1'' in the actual preview window, not actual scale) any ideas whats up?

@KidVlogger317 You are "keying out" which can be caused by being too close to the greenscreen when filming, or if there is not enough light on you and the greenscreen. You should be well lit so that you are separated from the screen and make sure to light the screen well and evenly. Be sure to stand at least 5 or 6ft away from the screen. And of course, do not wear green when using a greenscreen.

This might be a dumb question but every time I drag a new video to my project editor it always asks me to create a new project. I can't get around this window that pops up. It won't let me exit out and it is very annoying. I see in this tutorial and many others how you can just drag the video clip onto the editor and start editing. How do I get this window to go away and act like your sony vegas in the tutorial? Thank you

@Gleekfan2010 I use vegas pro 10 for my production company and found the learning curve to be really simple. Before I got vegas I was using videospin and this was somewhat easier to grasp than videospin. That being said, I am still finding features I didn't know where available, and going to video's like this when I need a little help. Vegas is WELL WORTH getting. No professional equipment needed, just a good PC to run it.

I am trying to do this and for some reason it isn't working. I am wondering if it is the color of my background. Maybe it isn't green enough. I was able to do it with a video that I did of fireworks and another video I did of Navy pier. They were both done at night so that could be the difference.

@MrSparkcity I don't know how to include a fancy little back ground he has, but simply move your box, which is around sample text = ([sample text]) and move it to the left or right (your preference) like so = ([ ] sample text). This is your first key frame. Your next key frame will include the text. How quickly you want the text to slide in (or whatever effect you're going for) depends on where you place your next key frame. Experiment with it. Hope this helped. If not, send me a message

Wow, thanks for this video. Very helpful. I knew Vegas had a green screen effect but I didn't know it was called chroma key. Even Vegas Movie Studio has this effect. Easily the best video editor for under $100. Vegas is general is highly underrated compared to the big names.

It is because you shot it in 1080P, most of the time. You cannot burn 1080P. You can fix this easily by changing the quality settings on your camera to 720P or XP

The hardest part is always: how to find a good place for the green screen, make the green screen to not look too wrinkled and try to not burn the whole house with the lights. Everything else is easy. :P
