the stomach kind of lies transverse in the body, so the superior part lies under ribs 9-12 in anybody. what's around your belly button is the small intestine, major blood vessels and part of the pancreas.

no, the duodenum is the very first part of the small intestine that joins to the stomach, the illium is further down the small intestine.
