Thanks for the excelent video! Lately I've been more careful with my sax, but I've played it for 12 years, since I was a little kid, and playing it under cold temperatures, under the sun, under the rain, and with inexperinece, it has got a bit damaged. I've been a lot more careful in the last few years, and it's still playing good :)
Thanks! Just decided to get my own tenor tonight and just remembered that I had always shared one with another person and always let them clean it out. (I was too scared because I played clarinet before tenor instead of alto)
do you store the sax with the duster looking thing (pad protector in the horn) I bought an alto sax and it arrived today. It has the pad protector but no pull through cloths. I'm on a tight budget, what online shop would you say was reasonably priced? Mel
I tell my customers this exact same stuff constantly. Ironic when you consider I'm advising them how to save money by reducing the amount of visits and money they would have to pay me to clean and fix them.
I approve of this video. Infact I started to pick up some of your techniques in cleaning my horn. You also make a very good point about taking the swab through the bell. I was like ouch, because I am so use to going the other way. But you are right, why drag all that spit through the entire sax. I quess old habits die hard. But thanks for posting this vid. I liked it.
can that also clean mold

@abwlegacy
It's not mold, it's copper oxide. It's the stuff that forms with saliva and brass.

Good video, but I wonder if the left hand side keys don't get damaged by the position of the saxophone over the table ...

I think the spongy disc in the peace to clean the body is too big, it Got stoke in the thinner part..

I do disagree with this kind of cleaning. Gravity and breath push the moisture (saliva) down the saxophone where it sticks.
