Stockton was a lovely place but since the 00's has turned into a right shithole.
Every town has problems. It's a beutiful place but if you look for the problems you are bound to find them. I think it reflects British society quite accurately so don't blame the town.

As does the opinion's of the user named "fandigo69". Instead of Pakstani's being scapegoated, the "Mexican's" get blamed here for the towns problems, as well as the whole State. It seems both Stockton, California and Stockton, UK "share" many problems!......Why the hell is this name of "Stockton" so damn cursed for?? Very ironic indeed!

I live next door in "Tracy", but go to Stockton for school, friends, hang out, and basically do most things there. Whatever Stockton's many problems are I'm pretty comfortable there. I'm a little mad at Forbes Magazine pulling that stunt with voting it the most depressing place in the US to live. Typical Classism of the Upper Crust!!
Also to "wolfgrade" Plenty of those American Ford Crown Vic Cop Cars running around yesterday. Case of Arson that left an entire supermarket burned to the ground. They say it was kids playing with fire works, but I think that's just a story. To throw the gang members-dope hustlers off guard. This is highly ironic that you all are speaking so derogatory of "Stockton, UK"........ The principal city in my part of "Central California-San Joaquin, County". Is also named "Stockton" and our Stockton, California seems to have the exact same bad reputation for violence, gangs, drugs and generally bad shit, that yours does. We got voted the most depressing place to live in the entire US. We have many shooting's (different gun laws than you of course) and stabbings. Why is this name cursed?!

By coincidence, I have visited Stockton, Ca and agree it has similar problems to Stockton, UK.
It was funny seeing the American police cars with "Stockton Police" on the sides.
