Wow - this takes me back. I used to watch UFO regularly at the Marquee on Wardour st. back in the early 70's, Some great bands played there back then. Don't suppose you have any recordings of Sharks from that period? (Feat. Chris Spedding)
Thank you for this post...and I think I speak for all fans...please post the whole concert...in it's entirety...in order if possible! One can only imagine what would have been possible had Paul Chapman stayed in the band the whole time...if him and Michael had really gotten comfortable working with each other...
Had chapman stayed, Paul Raymond woulda never been in it... wouldnt have had the 3 best LPs we were lucky to get from them - Lights Out, Obsession and Strangers in the Night.. I dont know about you, but Im glad things didnt workout w/ Chapman.
I just know it would have/could have been like a Thin Lizzy dueling (leads/harmonies) guitar kind of thing vs the rhythm/lead stuff they had. And I really like Paul Chapman...UFO wrote some of their best songs with him in the lineup and all the Waysted albums with him are amazing...he's not as good as Michael but he can hold his own...The Wild, the Willing, and the Innocent is still one of my favorite albums. Strangers in the Night is still tops though!
THAN YOU for this EMERALD GRADE ARCHIVE!!! UFO, quite simply one of the finest hard rock groups of all time! Saw them play live 4 times with Michael,2 times with Chapman, 2 times with neither. Bands today couldn't even begin to appreciate the scope of their band dynamic, let alone their innate talent, musicianship, improvisational skills and unique song writing. This performance captures a slice of the moody groove great artists could construct and exploit in the context of the live environment.
