You have a very nice guitar! I am thinking of getting one myself and, since my name is also Robert Johnson, it will already have my name on it. :-)
You did a very nice job on this Blind Blake song. It is nice to see someone embrace this type of music and show such devotion to learning it correctly. Keep up the great work!
Ditto jstilesmusic comment. The thumb-roll defines Blake, especially the roll in this song from C to E7 to A. But don't feel bad --- no one has figured it out, or if they have, they haven't the technique to play it right. Blake was a one-of-a-kind.
You don't do the most important part of it all--the thumb roll. This is standard picking, good, but Blake would sit you down and show you the thumb roll
We have an expression here on the east coast.... "That's the shit right there"! Really, incredible playing and a real nice Gibby L-1. I just love hearing that piedmont / rag style guitar played well. Nice job.

Nicely done! I worked it out by ear from the John Fahey version, but you went straight to Blind Blake, who owns this style!

How do you practice on this picking style? What exercises can I do coming from the electric guitar?
I can play alternate picking, tapping, tremolo picking, etc... but this one never tried........
andry123456 2 years ago
check out deltabluestip's channel. He has a few exercises that might help
