Es lo mas sensual que he visto, muy bien logrado. La sensualidad no necesita de la vulgaridad, Shakira no le llega ni a la suela de los zapatos a esta danza.
It's clear that there are lots of links to LOTS of different music and culture in flamenco...I just get tired of the connection being made (and of flamenco/belly dance fusion)...there is so much more that makes up flamenco...that's it really...I wasn't trying to start a "who knows more" discussion here...and, by the way, of course Aida Gomez is amazing...never said anything different.
She is really dancing as a princess, not a stripper. The pride , arrogance and elegance is part of the sexiness. You see she is being hot while despising on Herod's loveless lust.
@nicolezly I agree. Whenever I hear 'the male gaze' mentioned by a feminist, I think of precisely this scene. There is enough ambiguity to create quite a bit of tension.
sorry to everyone its just being racist and she acts like she knows everything and is the envy of everyone. Really really sorry. Really sorry. Except to merchantess.
mostarmerchantess firstly being big doesnt make a good empire. The "best empire" your retarded mind made up killed of africa through slavery bitch. Also the christians have spain through being racist, while muslims could have annihaleted christianity in spain, they were open-minded and let them live while the fucked up nazi spanish queen kicked out the jews and muslims. And i know seven languages and a major so please dont think yourself a goddess (as if you could be)
read some history books first !!! Spain was Siria in the past !!! spanish has arab blood, flamenco has arab blood... spanish guitar was influenced by oud, listen to the rythms, the gypsi laments, you know about flamenco as i know about english culture, nothing at all

Spain wasn't exactly Syria, you silly. It was Moorish. Moors came from Morocco and left thank God. Spanish don't have Arab blood they are honest handsome people not materialistic, cheating hook noses. And by the way you should learn a bit about English culture. It is one of the best cultures in the world. The English owned an Empire 2/3 of the world including your little sand dump holes. Too bad they didn't wipe you out completely. All you know how to do is kill each other.

Oh by the way just so you know my heritage is English, ITALIAN, French and Russian (married to Spanish). Therefore I happen to be someone well versed in different cultures unlike you. Please learn how to spell (Syria not Siria). I speak 5 languages and hold a Masters degree. Can you compare?
Congratulations !! You are the best !! You are God !!!! I enjoy with been only an argentinian woman but very very happy !!! And I sustain every word I wrote ... and Im not arab, you know?
My heritage is Humane but also armenian and libanese and syrian and spanish .... so what? You took a Master in soberbia and please reade some Edward Said essays first and look some maps of Siria (with i, not english country) in the times of Bizantne Empire , Mr Perfect Nazi
I was actually referring more to the music than to the dance, but seriously, compare flamenco (at least as danced by women) with belly-dancing and you'll see what I mean.
They are both dance of teh gypsies. Gypsies have traveled from the Middle East through Morrocco to Spain and all along the Meditterranean sharing their dances with each country adding/developing their own influence for centuries. Many Middle Eastern dance programs do collaborate with flamenco and hula/polynesian dances too...they all borrow and share with one another. If you google it you will find a lot more info. Also goodle dance and music ethnology.
@raqueldelosarcos1970 this world needs more poetry and imagination than science and knowledge...*all* ancient music of the indo-european world is linked...especially middle eastern and spanish...flamenco even has links with india...the oud and the guitar...and so on and so forth...
What r u on about??? I study flamenco I should know. And will people stop bringing Moorish origins of everything in Spain coz it's simply not true. Yes, the Alhambra is Moorish but not flamenco, guuitar and don't know what else. Come on 600 yrs has passed since the Moors they are HISTORY.
Does anybody have this music?! I'm looking for it desperatly...I will play Salome and i would like to dance to this music...PLEASEEEEEE! Does anybody know the name of the song and the composer?
Salomé is a ballet and film made by Carlos Saura, a famous Spanish director. The music for this ballet has been composed by Roque Baños. The film Salomé by Saura is available on DVD. The DVD sells for $20-30 (you can use Google Products), but I've purchased it for $9.99 + $2.99 shipping from an eBay store in China.
The sound track for Salomé can be extracted from the DVD with many computer programs.
Amazing...Aida Gomez is so graceful...Carlos Saura did a fantastic job on this play.
I remember watching it some years ago live here in Thessaloniki Greece. It was in an open theater and right at this scene it started to rain real hard. As the music got more frantic, the rain did too.Aida kept on dancing under the strong rain, passionately! The audience went mad!! It was a one of a kind, rare scene to remember!!!
Excelente!!!

flamenco has nothing nothing nothing nothing to do with belly dancing!
raqueldelosarcos1970 2 years ago 3
Flameno does have elements of belly dancing.
chicha1964 2 years ago
Like what? Will the advocates of the "flamenco and bely dancing have common elements" theory please back it up with evidence.
phillipinangel 2 years ago 3
I already explained that I was referring to the musical elements rather than the choreographic elements.
But the dance in this particular movie clip DOES remind me of belly-dancing.
And try listening to the accompanying singers at a flamenco performance and then listen to Arabic music. You'll see what I mean.
