Ron got off on a little tangent there at the end, but if we eliminated the (Federal) department of education, there is a lot of good that would come of it. As Ron was saying, the unions would be an option, but not the only ticket for teachers - competition is good. Then there is the fact that the states can do much better when competing for scholastic achievement and are not as prone to lean toward indoctrination and the usual propaganda. And, count on more useful degrees and tuition going down.

I think he takes it too far with the unions, there's a reason they struggled for so long, yes they used and abused their power but so did business. I also hope he would allow for federal funding to research what chemicals etc are pollutants. Everything else though about the wars and financial system I agree with, and that's why Dr. Paul will get my vote.

@jamschnitter He's not against the people who form Unions, or those who join; he's against the absolute power grab that can be a temptation to Union leadership. He's anti-corruption, not anti-Union. The Status Quo RINO Republicans, like Romney, Gingrich, Perry, and certainly Santorum, would completely do away with Unions the second they had that ability.

Ron got off on a little tangent there at the end, but if we eliminated the (Federal) department of education, there is a lot of good that would come of it. As Ron was saying, the unions would be an option, but not the only ticket for teachers - competition is good. Then there is the fact that the states can do much better when competing for scholastic achievement and are not as prone to lean toward indoctrination and the usual propaganda. And, count on more useful degrees and tuition going down.

When we bring business back to the MOM and POP there will be less need to pay other countries that use near slave labor for lower costs. If MOM and POP have to pay no taxes if sold locally and there are duties on imports, the cheaper labor is lost via duties. Mom and Pop can compete again! Less child labor and near slave workers. I live in Asia now and over 10 years so I am more that aware of this issue.

im gonna vote ron paul only thing is when he said he was going to eliminate department of education and education is the parents responsibility. Back in his days peope didnt even really need loans to go to school. So if he says that he will make school affordable for everyone that idea wouldnt sound so radical. If he stops saying things like "im going to cut entitlement programs" or "cut school loans" and stuff he'd be doing way better.

The school budget was hundreds of dollars a year per student, adjusted for inflation. When the government gets involved prices skyrocket as everyone climbs aboard the gravy train. School loans were lobbied for by banks and colleges for this purpose. more

Alexis D'toqueville said in 1789 it was nearly impossible to find an illiterate American. What about now? The father of modern biochemistry, GW Carver was taught to read by a little white girl behind a slave shack. She didn't need ten thousand dollars.Government does not enhance education, it interferes with it.

@WonkaMarijuana look into the ideas behind the reasoning for doing away with some of it. Milton Friedman and Thomas Sowell say it well. Ask yourself why your having to pay WAY more for that degree now AND we are already spending more and more on it through the Fed. THAT IS the REASON why it goes up without end(the Gov spending on higher learning) AND the cost increase. Some of the schools are sitting on 1billion+ dollars and STILL have increased college ed 300~% over the last 25 years...

@hoochymama Health isn't an issue for Ron. He just took part in a 20 mile bike race in 100 degree heat with 100% humidity in Texas. There is nothing wrong with Ron's health.
Rand will probably continue on to run for President after his father, but Ron can do just fine right now.
He's frusterated with all the repetative, stupid questions but I doubt he ever gets tired of talking about liberty.

He obviously has a body of work as a doctor and a legistator, and as a human, which shows he is not racist. If you were to say"how could a man let stuff like that go out under his name?", I would agree with the sentiment, and so does Dr. Paul. There is one mare aspect to this story, however.......

@magicidiot12345 The media covered this story a decade ago, about newsletters written a decade before that, and Ron Paul immediately disavowed them and took moral responsibility for not establishing more oversight. In the decade since, the media has brought it up every two years, like clockwork, without a single new developement. Why? The answer has to be ratings and shock value, because there is no news in this story.
But, there is a vastly more important question......

Before the caucus comes to your state go find 1 voter a week (3 in NH and SC)that are not voting and educate them on Paul. Then drag them to go vote. Also have them do the same.
